Came here only because I was under the impression this place loves dogs and great place to take your dogs. When our party arrived, we sat in a place that would be good with the dogs, because their was another dog near the entrance. My friend had asked for a high chair and the high chair arrived beyond disgusting. We were all grossed out by the state of the high chair and our table - no one wiped it clean or did anything. I helped and cleaned it for my friend and the picture that I posted is after the fact it's been wiped. Please imagine how bad it was before I wiped it with 4 sanitizing wipes. The waitress, Becky came over and asked if we're ready to order, meanwhile she saw our entire party wiping the tables and high chair and never once offered to clean it. She didn't even understand that we haven't looked at the menu because we're too busy doing the restaurant's job to offer a clean environment to eat and dine. She seemed annoyed that we weren't ready and left and turns out the other dog was her daughter's and they were there hanging out. She, of course seemed more cheerful there, then she was with our party that just sat. We haven't done anything to annoy her besides just arriving. The restaurant did provide water bowls for the dogs, but no one really seemed to be happy to see dogs being there, so not sure why this place would be a great place to take dogs. I just really thought all the staff here would all love dogs. I didn't taste the smashburger, but it was flagged that it wasn't a true smashburger, since there wasn't any crispiness or thinness. It was just a regular burger. I got the mussels daily flavour that was "Thai" - decent, but a lot of the mussels came closed and not sure why it would be "Thai" when they used jalapenos as their heat. Shrimp Basket - not great. Very disappointing experience - wished I didn't pick this place and wasted a meal here for the sake of wanting to bring my dogs to a place where I thought would be a great place for them. read more

Here's the deal: my family and I went to Rehobeth Beach last year, and we learned from that experience. I was tasked with putting together a list of eateries off the main strip. When my mom saw The Pig and Publican, she decided we would eat there our first night. And it was a good choice. We had to wait (a reasonable time) to be seated on the patio area, but it was a lovely night out. Our server was wonderful and attentive, and the food was great. It's a shame they were out of the mud pie, because I would have liked to try it. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and were seated promptly. Please note, if you are a party larger than 6, they will only seat you in the bar area. It looked like there were only two tables that could be pushed together to accommodate a large party, so I would call before arriving and being disappointed. They do have their own parking lot, which is a huge plus as the parking in Lewes is awful. Anyway, on to our experience... Our group of 6 all ordered something different and each person loved their meal. We enjoyed the Wild mushroom soup, Peaches and Burrata salad with grilled chicken, Chicken burrito, Drunken noodles with shrimp, Chicken and Brie sandwich with bacon, Asian bowl with shrimp, and the Asian bistro salad with chicken. We've eaten here many times. One of our favorite places when we camp at Cape Henlopen. We love their food. They always have new twists on sandwiches. I've been looking for a decent and tasty burger.....finally had one here! The PB and Jelly burger was not a disappointment! It was served with a FULL bag of chips (no air!) and a pickle slice. Omgosh, delightfully sinful! We also had a Nashville hot chicken sandwich that was crispy and tasty, cooked to perfection! Absolutely scrumptious! Lunch was under $50 and we are full. Very friendly, welcoming place - perfect for locals in the off season. Clean and casual inside. Drinks from the bar are exceptional - and a fantastic selection of beer, wine, and ciders. We love this little pub! Friends introduced us to it last fall and we have been coming and brought other friends. The staff and other patrons are always friendly and the drinks and food are delicious. But I just want to make a request. We went last night with friends and I was dismayed to see that you are removing the Asian Bistro Salad from your regular menu. I was lucky last night that it was on your specials menu. I would just like to ask that you please consider keeping it on your regular menu. Besides that it is delicious and hearty enough for a meal, I am vegan and that salad and the hummus ( without the cheese) are the only two items I can eat there. My husband (not a vegan) and I wouldn't be able to come to the P&P to eat if there's nothing for me to eat, nor would friends go there with us, either. I am sure non-vegans love that delicious salad, too, so if you would continue to offer it, I would be very happy because I want to continue to eat at the Pig & Publican. For our trip to Lewes summer of '24, this was easily our best meal and the only place that didn't disappoint someone in our party of 6 plus one little service dog. It started off great when we were greeted by Chip at the host station, who was indeed very chipper and lived up to his name. He was friendly and accommodating, getting our group seated at an indoor table immediately. Helena then took over, introducing herself and taking our drink orders with a friendly smile and sweet disposition. She came right back and asked if we had questions or were ready to order, keeping that good attitude going while taking care of business. We got a variety of dishes including the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, flash fried Brussel sprouts, fish and chips, muscles, and a couple salads, one with shrimp and one with salmon. Helena refilled our drinks while we waited for the food which came out promptly and piping hot. Everyone agreed this was the best meal and experience of the 6 restaurants we tried in town. The atmosphere was nice with a little bar and numerous tables, inside and out with several TVs in the bar area. The service was fantastic, everyone we interacted with was personable. And the food hit the spot, every dish. This was the only restaurant of the 6 places we went to that everyone enjoyed their meal and we all agreed it was the best we had on this trip. I told Chip the exact same thing when he came over to check on us during the meal, which seemed to make him even more chipper, which I didn't think was possible. We also saw this cute bird family that nested in their awning, the eggs had hatched earlier in the day and momma was feeding her chicks. The menu is diverse for a pub which is nice! We got the pierogis and they were alright, the mushroom soup and hummus were really good though. I ordered the fish and chips, the fish was not too fishy and the breading wasn't too much and crunchy! My mom got the pasta which was good but needed more Parmesan. My dad got the bratwurst and really liked it! The sangria was good. All the portions are big so you get your moneys worth. The one complaint was our waitress took forever to get us water and wasn't super attentive, but she was nice. read more

This is a great place to dine for good food and it has a nice size parking lot. A nice restaurant with great ambiance. Service was excellent, fast and friendly. My wife and I stopped there on the way home from cleaning our rental unit in OCMD. We had the German pretzel appetizer with beer cheese and German mustard. I ordered the fish n chips and my wife got the house burger. All were served piping hot, straight from the kitchen. The pretzels were soft and hot the beer cheese was perfect. My fish n chips were very good, nice thin and crispy batter. My wife enjoyed the burger as well, great flavor and none of the food was over seasoned, perfect taste. Robin, our server was fantastic. Bottom Line: Friendliest service in Lewes and super delicious menu. My husband and I finally made it to The Pig and Publican on a recent visit to Lewes and it was superb. The host was super friendly and communicative so he gets five stars alone. The wait staff including bussers were equally attentive and friendly. This is the type of place where I want to dine every day. My husband and I started with Publican Pretzels which I think were some of the best soft pretzels I've ever had. My husband also ordered Wild Mushroom soup and I enjoyed several bites of it. For entrees, there were so many tempting options but we both went with options from the Fish Board. I had the Salmon and my husband had the Mahi Mahi. Both were served with green beans and mashed potatoes. The Chicken and Brea sandwich, House Burger, Fish Tacos, Bratwurst Plate and desserts also caught my eye - next time! And there definitely will have to be a next time. We visited on a Friday evening in March and felt fortunate we only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. There wasn't a great spot to wait inside without being in the way and we didn't want to stand in the rain so we tried to tuck ourselves out of the way of other diners and staff. A few of us went for lunch as there are so few restaurants open on Monday's. My 2 friends had the soup and half sandwich. The only 2 soups were mushroom in a porcini broth and Tom Yum soup, extremely spicy. I'm allergic to mushrooms so no soup for me. The mushroom soup was ok , kind of salty with a layer of grease on top. The half sandwich was a turkey on a pretzel roll with cream cheese and cranberry, it was delish. I had the pit ham and cheese grilled on sourdough, it was just ok. The turkey sandwich was so stuffed with meat, but the ham was very sparse. We also had the Brussel sprouts, which were amazing. Service was good. This is close to a 4 star restaurant but just missed on the soups and the ham sandwich. We will give it another try. read more

I had great service and enjoyed their Buffalo Cauliflower bites. My only suggestion is to make them a bit more bite sized but otherwise they were flavorful and cooked to the perfect al dente. We immediately like the vibe of the restaurant when we walked in. We were promptly greeted and shown to a table. We asked for recommendations and they were spot on. The only hiccup was they were out asparagus for one of the dishes we ordered, however we weren't told they were substituting green beans. This was a nice little bar in Lewes, Delaware I met my brother and his wife at for a quick bite. Definitely not a tourist spot, this place seemed to be a very low key majority locals bar even though it's situated on the main drag in Lewes. We were staying in Lewes within walking distance and liked this pub so much we went twice in one day - the first time for a late lunch, and the second time for dessert in the evening! For a small bar and restaurant, the menu is varied and interesting. I had a half sandwich with soup (a uniquely spicy watermelon soup) for lunch and peanut butter pie for dessert.
