We happened to be in Smyrna for some business, and decided to have dinner here. It was a good choice as we thoroughly enjoyed the beer on tap, and the entrees offered. The interior was well decorated, with a friendly atmosphere. Our server was friendly and attentive to our needs. Their menu offers a good selection, with plenty of handheld items and classic Irish entrees. The portions were large and well prepared. Prices were reasonable as compared to other pubs or breweries. The bar was busy and people seemed to be having a good time. It was a little dark, but not unexpected for the bar area. We were there for dinner and only waited a short time for a table. The floor and table were in need of cleaning. We both ordered the shepherds pie which seemed like a good comfort food choice. The food arrived very quickly, but didn't look as expected. It was sort of scooped in a pile on the plate without any shape, and you couldn't see any layers. Looks aren't everything, and people make recipes differently, so we decided to still give it a try. Unfortunately, the taste was not any better. We weren't able to get past a couple bites and asked for the check. They did ask us to choose something else on the menu, but we felt it was too late for that. They offered us a refund which we appreciated. I went to Sheridan's on a Friday night recently and had a few problems. My sister ordered the Chicken Pot Pie, what was served was a bowl of potato soup. When we questioned the waitress, she stated that was what Sheridan's Chicken Pot Pie was served. I ordered a Chicken Jameson and was served something else. The waitress stated she had written down the wrong thing, and I finally got the dish, it was uneatable. Needless to say we won't be going to Sheridan's ever again. read more

Sheridans on St Patrick's Day was dead as a door nail. Empty and disappointed. Went down the street to another Irish restaurant and it was standing room only and a wait list to be seated. Definitely need to change things up for next year. We are Irish and go to Sheridan's every year on St Patrick's Day. Unfortunately, this may be our last. My rating is really 4.5 stars, as I didn't experience enough to it that extra full star. When I visited Smyrna, I went here for dinner and the only thing I regretted was not carrying enough money on me for, while it wasn't low budget enough for me to get anything (being rather poor sadly) it IS definitely worth the price! The owner, Ms. Sheridan (I forgot her first name), is super-friendly and I swear she's full-blooded Irish herself. She talked to several customers at the bar while I ate. The atmosphere when I was there was calm and relaxing too. The menu items are VERY authentic and I wish I got something more than I did. I got a tomato soup cup for $4 or so, and while that's usually a dollar more than I'd like to spend for a soup "cup," it was the best tomato soup I may EVER have had, and that's saying something for plain ol' tomato soup. Five people in our party and everyone enjoyed their meals. One tried the Irish Boxty, Cajun shrimp in it, and they really enjoyed it. Two others had sandwiches, which were very good. One had a specialty salad that could have had a little more variety in it, but they enjoyed it. And the last person had an entree, chicken divan. They said that was just ok. It did take a little while to get our food, but it was nice that someone apologized and said they got alot more people than they were expecting. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. We do not live in the area, but if we did would definitely go again. Prices were also reasonable, which is important these days. read more

I stumbled upon Sheridan's Irish Pub on a work trip to Delaware. I had no expectations when we stepped foot into Sheridan's and I honestly can say that I haven't been impressed with an Irish Pub in a long time. Sheridan's is very spacious and I can see this place easily accommodating both small and large groups. I visited Sheridan's a little before St. Patrick's Day and I could easily see this place being the number one place to go around that time. Sheridan's managed to get me excited for St. Patrick's Day even though I knew I wouldn't be around for it. The one thing that I noticed is that even though it's a Irish Pub they have a very diverse menu. Typically going to a restaurant that advertises being one style and having a scattered menu is a turnoff but the food was delicious. Both myself and my colleagues thoroughly enjoyed the food. They have a delicious vegetarian selection along with many options for meat eaters. Sheridan's would definitely would be on my list of my favorite bars if I lived in Delaware! read more

So disappointing. So came here as a group of 8 for dinner. I've been here before years ago and enjoyed my meal and service throughly. The night we went wasn't the same experience. First off the waitress seemed distracted most of the time and took forever to complete our drink order then took like 40 mins before she came back for our food order. We were pretty hungry by then. I ordered the soup of the day which was french onion and my friend next to me ordered the potato bacon soup. Ohhh and the water tasted like gross bar tap water which is also weird as well. I ordered a beer so I wouldn't have to drink the water. My French onion came out and was pretty delicious. Would have liked to see more onion and cheese on the soup but still pretty solid. My friend was still waiting on her soup but before you know it our entrees were out. I got the cajun shrimp boxty which is one of the popular items on the menu. Tastewise it tasted pretty decent but the shrimp in the boxty was super overcooked to the point that it was rubbery/hard instead of plump and juicy. I'm not sure how they prepare it but I'm pretty sure they cook the filling then place it inside the potato pancake. Sauce was pretty good and at least you get a ton of veggies. End of the night we all paid. My friend still got charged for her soup and when she asked the waitress to take it off she was met with some attitude. (Most of the night she gave us attitude as well) My other friend never got her onions with her venison meal and was also charged for it (luckily they took that off her bill as well) The cherry on top was when the next day I had my leftover boxty for lunch (I do not like to waste food if it's somewhat decent to eat) I discovered before warming it up a piece of straight black hair on top of my boxty. I mean I have black hair but LONG black hair so I knew it couldn't be mine. Not a fan maybe will come back here for drinks and maybe an app but just disappointed with the whole experience. read more

Came here for lunch with my wife while in the area. First, excellent pub vibe. We went to Ireland and this place reminded us of being there. Second, ordered a Chicken Cheese steak and a Roast Beef Sandwich and they were both excellent. The Roast Beef was thinly sliced and tender and the chicken was real diced breast. The fries and coleslaw were equally as good. Service was courteous and friendly. Highly recommended if you are in the area. read more

In town for a music festival and decided to stop in for a pint and dinner. Wow, they did not disappoint! We started with a Guinness for me and an IPA for my husband. We shared the Cabbage Roll appetizer, which was fantastic -- corned beef rolled into cabbage with a sauce over top, OMG delicious. For our entrees, I had the Beef and Mushroom Boxty, which was off-the -charts delicious. A potato pancake with shaved roast beef, mushrooms and onions inside, topped with a cream sauce. Shut the front door! My husband had the Fish and Chips, which he loved. Flaky fish, flash fried for the just the right amount of time, crispy "chips" he smothered in malt vinegar and, finally, fresh cole slaw. We sat at the bar and the service was top notch. Food came out quickly and the bartender was very helpful as we made our selections. If we're ever in the area again, this will be one of our stops! read more

If five stars means that this restaurant is "as good as it gets" I am unable to grant five stars. I will however give Sheridan's four stars, because I am a "fan"...it is a solid place and maybe it is "as good as it get" down in slower-lower-DE...?!?! (Should I lower my standard and expectations based on the location? I think not.) I went here tonight with my wife. We were greeted immediately by who seemed to be the GM or owner. Our service throughout our meal was good. It was not great. When I go out to eat and spend $40+, I'm looking to be wow'd. I'm looking for warmth from my waitor/waitress. I'm looking for someone to not only meet my expectations, but exceed them...I'm paying you, remember? Like I said, my service tonight was good...but it wasn't great. To be honest, as the meal went on, the place grew busier, and we were a bit neglected. Regardless, the food was good - I had the Fish & Chips (not the best I've ever had, but solid nonetheless; cod was not greesy, which is good; fries were totally unsalted) and my wife had the Turkey & Asparagus Boxty (very tasty). The restaurant is very clean, which is big in my book. I do want to say that this has got to be the best spot in Smyrna...and Dover for that matter. Sheridan's is, put quite simply, the best restaurant in Smyrna. The food is traditional Irish pub fare excellently prepared and served in sizable portions. The beer selection is the most respectable one in town - and, of course, there's no better place in all of Delaware to score a Guinness, Harp, or Smithwick's. In addition, they also serve excellent concoctions from the local 16-Mile Brewery on tap. The service is excellent, and the decor is tastefully cozy for a pub, replete with a fire-hydrant-tap and a fireplace. Of particular note is the traditional Irish breakfast that they serve annually on St. Patrick's Day. It's a fairly dense meal, but it's truly an old-world experience worth coming for. The restaurant is worth visiting any time, however - either for a more quiet place for lunch or a fun Friday night with live Irish music. I certainly plan to make this my regular spot as long as I live in the area. read more

Went here on Friday night for dinner with my son. Took a little longer then I would have liked for the waitress to come over and has us start our order and for a local bar it did not seem really busy for a Friday night. Once we placed our orders things did get better. Our wings came pretty fast and were big and fat. They were not overly spicy for being buffalo wings but it was a good change of pace. My son really liked the chicken cheese steak he ordered, he liked it better then the place he normally gets one from. The chicken pot pie I had was really tasty. The filling was not as soupy as some other pot pies I have had, but everyone makes things different so no complaint. Will definitely go back read more

I stopped in here on a Thursday night with my girlfriend, on our way home from the Delaware beaches. It was clean, the staff was awesome, and the food was delicious. I've been driving through Smyrna for the past 15 years on my way home from the beach, and just realized it's a great town to stop to grab a bite. Between The Odd Fellows (also awesome) and Sheridan's... this is the perfect town to stop if you're hungry. It wasn't too crowded when we got to Sheridan's, but by the time we left (around 6:30pm) every table was filled. I had a "boxty." I had never heard of one before, but it was outstanding. The serving was huge. My girlfriend had a roast beef sandwich- loved it. Great beer selection, and dessert was awesome too. I'll definitely be back again. read more

One of our favorite local restaurants. The food is very, very good and the service is excellent!!!!! If I was to say there was a problem with this restaurant it would be that they should consider changes to their menu on a regular basis. If you are a regular, you get very tired of the same foods. This is not a deal breaker, but I would come a lot more if there were changes in the menu. We enjoy coming here on Fridays as you can always get a table, a good meal and the beer is always cold!!! First, there are not enough superlatives that can describe what a wonderful place Sheridan's Irish Pub is. The owners, Joe and Shirley Sheridan, always welcome you as if you were a family member and not a customer. In addition, the decor is a throwback to the 1930's and exudes a warmth that can not be found in the modern day pubs/restaurants of today. The food is great (love the meatloaf and burgers) with a diverse menu that will sure to please and the wait staff always welcomes you with a smile and is very accommodating. Lovely pub atmosphere in downtown Smyrna. You can sit at the bar or in the dining area. The decor is welcoming and the service is good. We went on a snowy Tuesday and enjoyed not only the large selection of beer - many on tap - but the food was wonderful. My husband had venison which he raved about, perfectly grilled. Went here on a Saturday night around 11 pm. The place was nearly empty except for a few locals on the roof deck and a man playing live music. I felt bad for him, having the place so empty- he was pretty good. I can't give a stunning review of this place because all I had was a Coors and some potato leek soup. Both were fairly good and served at their appropriate respective temperatures. The bartenders were nice enough, despite the late hour. Though my experience was limited and lackluster, I thought they at least should get a listing. The place is cute. I didn't get a great look at their menu, but I'll be back for a full meal to see how authentically Irish they are. read more

We came here for dinner for the purpose of buying tickets for an event they were hosting. We had very low expectations for the food because well, its a bar! Bar food is usually right out a can with high prices. We were pleasantly suprised. I had the Sheppards pie and thought it was very tasty. My husband had the smokey mountain boxty which was also delicious. It was $35 for the two of us. The service was average but they were kinda busy. I would definitely eat here again. They lost a star because they dont let adults order the kids portion and their denial of my request was not presented in a friendly way. I cant eat adult portions and therefore had to change my order to something that is still good reheated. The waitress just simple stated that kids portions are for 12 and younger. No apology or suggestions on smaller meals. read more
