This place has been around forever and never disappoints. Great authentic atmosphere and food with a nice selection of Irish whiskey, but what I enjoy most are the fresh 20oz mugs of Pilsner Urquell on draft (they even get a keg of the unfiltered every year). The owner and staff are amazing. We threw our friend a super soft birthday party there, and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Our server Staci did a great job! Even though we were running around all over the place, she kept our beers and our bellies full. It's a great place to celebrate St. Paddy's Day (obviously), they do pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus around Christmas every year, and they have the nicest patio in Brookfield! read more

Food not great. The fish part of my fish and chips were unbelievably salty (and I usually add salt to things), the fries were a bit mealy (and cold). Good Irish whiskey selection, for what that's worth. Wife liked her chicken pot pie well enough, but apparently the chicken fingers weren't very good (children and wife all agreed)....making chicken fingers that little boys dislike is quite an achievement. This is mostly a place for drinking in well done faux-Irish surroundings, I suspect ... more than eating. I happened to be in the Brookfield area today with a coworker and wanted to get some lunch. But the only place I know in Brookfield is the zoo so I checked my trusty Yelp. That's how I discovered this hidden gem. It's not hard to find when you're looking for it (even though I've passed it many times in the past and never noticed it.) I've been to other Irish Pubs like Curragh in Edison Park and Peggy Kinnanes in Arlington Heights. They are such warm and friendly places with their brick and stone walls, wooden floors, fireplaces, and friendly staff. So I wasn't surprised to find those same things at this place. What surprised me was all the cozy places this pub had to hang out. Small room after small room, some with fireplaces, where you can sit and enjoy beers and great food with your friends. It's so comfy in this place and the staff so friendly I wanted to put my feet up and stay for a long time. Unfortunately, I was in the middle of my workday, so I decided I must return with friends after hours. They also have my favorite kind of patio. It's surrounded by building so you don't see anything to indicate where in the world you are sitting. So you can tell yourself you're enjoying a beer in Dublin and there's nothing to break the fantasy. Besides the great food and drink, our server Julie told us they also have a Friday all-you-can-eat fish and chips. So I tried that for lunch to see if it was worth traveling down there on a Friday to check it out. It is. She also told us they regularly have beer specials, taco and burger specials, and live music. She mentioned that the owner likes it to have a party atmosphere along with the authentic Irish Pub charm, so he regularly has Irish dancers visiting to entertain the patrons. She said St. Patrick's Day was fun and they have a great Halloween party every year too. The only thing I don't like about this place is it's not near my neighborhood. So I guess that means I'm just going to have to sell my house and move closer. :-) read more

Larger inside than it appears outside. Covid probably saved me from spending too many evenings here! They have a large menu, but I recommend sticking with the pub food: fish and chips, shepherds pie, Guinness stew, etc. Good service. read more

Update: last time I ventured recently, ordered Corn Beef & Cabbage for myself and family got appetizers and meals as well (earlier around 5:30pm on a Thursday, quiet there), one of our 4 waiters brought 3 of 4 meals within 12 minutes. My 87 year old Dad was without his Rueben, so we wall waited. 10 minutes later our food was cold, his Rueben came & we had to remind about the appetizer -- by remind, we asked they remove and not charge us, aka no longer needed. Corn Beef / Cab last time tested fresh and honestly amazing, this time - felt like leftovers that had been microwaved in about 10 min (wow, the time I ordered then received!!) Still charged us for App. (Cheese curds @ $12.99, cold) Not stoked. Maybe not going back. Wish I had better things to say... used to love this place. read more

My Family was recently at Irish Times and Michael was our server. This establishment is one of my favorite places to go in the area. The food is excellent, no one pours a better Guinness. Very often they have entertainment as well. I would suggest following them on various social media platforms for their upcoming events. Our server Michael was the best. Irish Times is known for their Shepherds Pie & Taco's but I stuck with the traditional Fish & Chips and I'm glad I did. The cod was lightly battered and fries & cole slaw. I'll have to come back for the Shepherds Pie. Oh yes, nice variety of beers. Craft & traditional. read more

Solid classic Irish bar. Warm welcoming waitstaff. They looked a little under staffed but the folks who were there were working hard. The bloody mary was ok but needed at least a celery stick. Friendly staff and great food. They treated me like family when I called in a to-go order. I got Irish curry fries and some veggie tacos. The food was perfect. If only I could have sat at the bar with a beer, the fries would have been A+. They were still delicious and authentic. Well well well, we usually go to Chief O'Niels on north side for annual St. Pats lunch but they were closed on Mondays. So we looked on Yelp for elsewhere. This was perfect! Love Irish times! Irish bars are my favorite in general because they're always usually stocked up on some good stouts! Their beer selection here is great and reasonably priced. Every time we've stopped in we've been served right away, with a smiley face. I really enjoy the old-time feel you get where you're here. You get a small cottage feel but with so much space. They actually have a room with an entirely separate bar for private parties I just learned about! The snuggly booths, dim lighting, and seating arrangements are so cozy. Everything about the atmosphere makes you feel like you're far away from Naperville in a little town in Ireland somewhere (I wish!) My favorite part of this place? Their FOOD! This is not your typical "bar bites" but homemade deliciousness that I end up craving. Their chicken pot pie is one of the best I've had. I can literally taste the flakey crust and creaminess of the veggies and chicken breast that make up the filling. It's always served piping hot because they make it fresh so make sure you order it right when you get there because it can take a good 20-30 minutes to cook. It's worth every minute and a steal for $13. Besides the great food and drink options, this bar is walking distance from the Metra which makes it so convenient to get to. Irish Times had been one of our favorite neighborhood spots for many years. That has unfortunately changed. We went for a birthday. After sitting for about 15 minutes with no contact at all -- no water and not so much as a glance from a server -- a couple of us went to the bar to get drinks. The bartender (who may have been the hostess) wouldn't get us drinks. Instead she said that our server would be there in a moment. After another ten minutes without a glance in our direction or so much as a "hold on, I'll be right there", we finally left. It's a shame that Irish Times is no longer what it was and a place you can count on. You're now much better off going someplace (really any place) that will at least pour a glass of water while you wait. read more

Time for Lent. Time to find a Friday fish fry and I found it: Irish Times! My fish and chips was great. Big pieces of cod (all you can eat). I don't see how you can eat more than what they give you (3 big pieces)! Tartar sauce was very good. Also, the fish is cool with malt vinegar or tabasco sauce. Fries were good and the cole slaw was right on target. Service was cool. As I looked around the joint, just about every table had the same thing: fish fry. Fireplaces add a nice touch! I wasn't sure about coming here initially but had a good experience. There are many rooms and apparently two bars. Took a minute to get initial service at the bar but she apologized so all good. Delicious Bloody Mary! They didn't have a cocktail menu but she offered to make what I wanted and the martini didn't disappoint. We ordered the shepherds pie and Guinness stew.
