I found G&W through Yelp and scheduled a pick up for a Biergarten Box (8-10 people) and a Backyard Box (4-6). Picking up was a breeze, I just showed up at the scheduled time and they had most of the meat ready. It ended up being a lot of brats, some franks, and some dried beef sticks. I will note this is a lot of sausages and no burgers, so we picked some of those up elsewhere. I also got a jar of mustard which turned out amazing. And yes, my wife and I were offered a couple beers when we walked in. Since we were driving back to our AirBNB right away, we saved them to boil the meat in. And wow, these were some excellent sausages. Super juicy and flavorful, and while I think there was some hesitation on the brats they were hits. The kids had no idea they were eating natural franks (which were gigantic) and they ate them up as well. The value was excellent too. By ordering online it knocked off 15%, so I paid around $90 to feed 5 families dinner and lunch the next day, and still took some leftover meat home. I was going back and forth and one of the employees encouraged me to go with something different. I asked if I could get it on a biscuit and would be sold. They checked and said yes, I was excited because I LOVE the biscuit. I decided to try the hash browns, too. You take a number and pick your seat, counter with stools line the windows to the outside as well as section that looks into the butcher cutting area. Food came out quickly and was thrilled at the hash browns, they looked so good. Shredded potatoes fried crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside - very good and I would definitely order them again. I am usually very picky about cheese, but I love pimento and the biscuit sandwich was amazing. So it came out as a split biscuit with the house ham and pimento spread, pepper jelly, arugula, heirloom tomato, and a fried egg. I cut the egg in half so I could take half home but it turned out to be nonsense as I couldn't stop eating the sandwich and finished the whole thing! Everything's high-quality and poor value after accounting for the price. I stopped in to pick up a pork loin because I was around the corner, looking for ~3-4lbs of meat. They only had a 1 1/2 pound in the case (order taker weighed it to confirm before going to the back, which should've been my first warning) so I asked if they had any larger ones. They were nice enough to check and offer to cut one. That's where things went downhill. After waiting 5 or 10 minutes, my order taker came back out to ask how I wanted it prepped (bone or boneless, skin on or off). I said skin off and ambivalent on the bones. This was my mistake, leaving my fate to the hands of someone profit motivated. I walked out with just about a 3 pound bone in roast, which is maybe half a pound more meat than the one and a half pound I turned down - not enough for my guests and I. Had I gotten a roast closer to 4lbs, I would've been unhappy with the price but not enough to write a review. Additionally, they only charged a dollar less for bone in. At $15/lb, I effectively paid the price of their beef for the meat after accounting for the bone. I felt tricked. In hindsight, I should've just turned it down when I saw the price, but I was a bit too shocked to say anything. So I paid my bill and swore that I wouldn't be coming back for anything but (maybe) sausage or a snack again.

There are several young employees who repeatedly fail to change their gloves when going from handling raw meat to slicing lunch meat. I have personally had to remind them to change their gloves on multiple occasions. Today, I watched the same employee pack raw ground beef for another customer and then, without changing his gloves, go directly to the lunch meat counter and begin slicing her lunch meat. This is especially concerning because I have personally reminded this employee of the need to change gloves in the past. Handling raw ground beef and then ready-to-eat lunch meat with the same gloves is a serious cross-contamination concern. I really like shopping at Mannino's, but management needs to address this immediately and make sure employees are properly trained and following basic food-safety practices. I would hate to see someone get sick because these procedures aren't being followed.

We decided next time we were in St. Louis, we'd swing through and check the area out. Iriskic is a small little market with a few aisles of Bosnian food products and a meat counter. The food selection is pretty expansive given the small space. There are products from candy to entrees to soda to desserts. We scanned the shelves and found some products that looked interesting and bought them. we also bought some cheese and meat from a cooler. We've eaten a number of things now and they were pretty darn good. The woman working the counter was really nice and answered questions about the foods and flavors of things. If you are specifically looking for Bosnian food, well, this is the place to go. If you are looking for something a little out of your comfort zone, this could be a great stop for you. The staff is nice, the food is good and atypical and nothing you will find in a standard grocery store.
