Today I decided to stop going to the Wednesday Friday 11 to 12 silver sneakers class. The class has…read morechanged. And it's because there is a yoga class that runs from 10 to 1045/1050. This means that the silver sneakers class, which uses chairs because we're all senior citizens, for example I'm over 80, sit on the chairs for some of our workout exercises. In any case, when we have to rush into the room after the yoga class, it becomes a chaotic situation as people try to reserve their workout space and move the chairs. Sometimes the chairs are too close together side-by-side, or the row in front or back is too close. In the previous silver sneakers class, before the yoga class started, someone from the class would arrange all the chairs into nice rows and would space the chairs out. Now that we are all bringing chairs in ourselves, and trying to reserve space, we no longer have set, rows and the side-to-side spacing between chairs is off. I noticed that there is a silver sneakers class on Saturdays at 11 to 12. And there is no class before the Saturday silver sneakers class. I'm plan on trying the Saturday class, which has a different teacher. I do want to say that Debra, the instructor for the Wednesday Friday class has been excellent. When there was no yoga class that started before the Silver sneakers class, Debra was able to go around and talk to everyone about their progress and any other workouts that would help. Now she no longer has time to talk to us individually, and the room is very chaotic. In addition, I think that the "studio" room could be striped to add two Pickleball courts. And if the basketball court was striped for Pickleball, another 3 or 4 courts could be added. Various gyms - churches and recreation and park districts - have added Pickleball stripes to indoor basketball/volleyball courts. These community centers usually reserve a set period of time for Pickleball and charge for the privilege. In a way, setting a time slot for Pickleball would be no different than reserving the basketball court for instructions.

Management is a total joke. This gym stinks and I guess they want to save money by not turning the…read moreair on. No circulation. ALWAYS out of paper towels and hand sanitizer in all the dispensers. People sit on the machines on their phone for 30 minutes at a time. Seems like all I smell on the treadmill is people's garlic breath from what they ate the night before.

Most businesses would be thrilled to receive that kind of commitment. Not Planet Fitness. Instead of accepting my money, they refused because I wouldn't give them direct access to my checking account. They wouldn't let me simply pay in advance, and they wouldn't let me use the payment method I was comfortable with. Apparently, taking hundreds of dollars upfront isn't good enough unless they also have access to your bank account. That says a lot about what this company values. Rather than making it easy for customers to join, they seem far more focused on forcing everyone into a billing system that benefits them instead of the customer. It left me wondering why a company would turn away guaranteed money unless recurring access to customers' bank accounts is more important than earning their business. I wasn't asking for special treatment. I wasn't asking for a discount. I was literally trying to hand them money for two full years, and they still wouldn't work with me. That's one of the most ridiculous business policies I've ever encountered. There are plenty of gyms with better equipment, better customer service, and payment options that actually respect their customers. Planet Fitness lost a returning member because of a completely unnecessary policy that puts the company's interests ahead of the customer's. If you're thinking about joining, read the membership and billing policies carefully before you sign anything. I wish I had known just how inflexible they were before wasting my time. Terrible Terrible company.
