Today I decided to stop going to the Wednesday Friday 11 to 12 silver sneakers class. The class has…read morechanged. And it's because there is a yoga class that runs from 10 to 1045/1050. This means that the silver sneakers class, which uses chairs because we're all senior citizens, for example I'm over 80, sit on the chairs for some of our workout exercises. In any case, when we have to rush into the room after the yoga class, it becomes a chaotic situation as people try to reserve their workout space and move the chairs. Sometimes the chairs are too close together side-by-side, or the row in front or back is too close. In the previous silver sneakers class, before the yoga class started, someone from the class would arrange all the chairs into nice rows and would space the chairs out. Now that we are all bringing chairs in ourselves, and trying to reserve space, we no longer have set, rows and the side-to-side spacing between chairs is off. I noticed that there is a silver sneakers class on Saturdays at 11 to 12. And there is no class before the Saturday silver sneakers class. I'm plan on trying the Saturday class, which has a different teacher. I do want to say that Debra, the instructor for the Wednesday Friday class has been excellent. When there was no yoga class that started before the Silver sneakers class, Debra was able to go around and talk to everyone about their progress and any other workouts that would help. Now she no longer has time to talk to us individually, and the room is very chaotic. In addition, I think that the "studio" room could be striped to add two Pickleball courts. And if the basketball court was striped for Pickleball, another 3 or 4 courts could be added. Various gyms - churches and recreation and park districts - have added Pickleball stripes to indoor basketball/volleyball courts. These community centers usually reserve a set period of time for Pickleball and charge for the privilege. In a way, setting a time slot for Pickleball would be no different than reserving the basketball court for instructions.

I have gone to every other instructor and I have loved every class- So Naturally I really wanted to enjoy this class because the workout itself was genuinely good and challenging, and I definitely felt like I got a great Pilates workout in. Unfortunately, I found some of the instructor's commentary throughout class pretty uncomfortable and distracting. There were several comments made about not liking when men attend her classes because they grunt and sweat too much, along with jokes about being unhappy when men are in certain classes. It wasn't just one passing joke--it came up multiple times, which started to make the overall atmosphere feel unnecessarily negative. I also think it's worth remembering that exercise isn't always quiet or pretty--people sweat, breathe heavily, and sometimes make noises when they're physically exerting themselves, regardless of gender. I completely understand joking around and bringing personality into a class, and I actually think that can make a workout more fun. But I also think a gym should be a space where everyone feels comfortable walking into a class, whether they're a man, a woman, or anyone in between. I would hate for someone to try Pilates for the first time and hear comments that make them feel like they aren't wanted there. At one point, the instructor even joked about being able to imagine someone leaving a negative review about her and said that she just has to speak from her heart. I respect being yourself, but I think there's also a difference between how we joke with friends and how we speak when we're leading a class in a professional setting. The workout itself was good, which is why this was disappointing. I left feeling like I had gotten a great workout physically, but the overall vibe of the class made me feel more uncomfortable than uplifted. I think the class would have been significantly more enjoyable with less commentary about who should or shouldn't be in the room and more of that energy directed toward encouraging everyone who showed up to work out.

While working out, my sister and I were recording ourselves performing exercises. An employee (Jackson) approached us and told us that we were not allowed to record ourselves anywhere on the exercise floor then proceeded to say "I'm not going to kick you out right now". This caught me off guard because I have worked out and recorded myself at other Planet Fitness locations without an issue, while following the rules regarding other members' privacy. Afterward, I reviewed Planet Fitness's published Mobile Device Use Policy. My understanding is that photography and video of yourself on the gym floor are permitted in limited circumstances, provided other members are not photographed or recorded without their permission, the recording does not create a safety concern, and it is not for commercial purposes. I completely understand and respect rules designed to protect members' privacy and maintain a comfortable environment. In fact, that is exactly why we intentionally positioned our camera so no one else would be included. What I find frustrating is being told that recording yourself on the exercise floor is simply prohibited when that does not appear to be how Planet Fitness's published policy is written or other wise communicated to members by signage (which there were none). If this particular location has adopted a blanket no-recording rule, I would appreciate clarification on that and where this location-specific policy is posted for members. If there is no separate policy, I would appreciate clarification as to why we were stopped despite taking precautions to comply with the published guidelines. Consistency matters, especially for members who visit multiple Planet Fitness locations and are trying to follow the rules. Members should be able to understand what is and is not permitted without receiving conflicting information depending on which club or employee they encounter.

She makes you work so hard and builds a sisterhood around all the ladies she trains. I came for BootCamp its on Saturdays at 8am. You have to try it. It's awesome. Its rough, it's hard, but its AWESOME. Along the back there is a large Barn door and that is where her office is. There is a bathroom to the left shelving to put your stuff on while you sweat it out.
