From fruit trees and fresh produce to yard sale treasures, mattresses, furniture, and even brand-new items it's like a giant treasure hunt. If you enjoy browsing and negotiating, many vendors are open to bargaining on prices. There are also plenty of food and drink stands if you need a snack while walking around. The restrooms are available and surprisingly clean and well stocked. Overall, it's a great place to shop, explore, and definitely get your steps in because there's so much to see. There are food vendors, bar for alcohol near entrance, and entertainment too! I enjoy coming out here to the swap meet, we try to squeeze it in despite so much to do but so little time. I just love to look at and shop for plants and also get the cheap, colorful fruits for the hubby! I like to browse and at the same time get our steps in. What did I get during this recent to Spring Valley, some new with tag storage, household items from Target, Toys for my friend's daughter, and fruits! Con: depends on the day and movie; it can get super packed, the entrance to purchase tickets can get long and extend to the streets; can be dangerous if no one pays attention. Bathroom is outdated, sometimes no hand soap or they run out of bathroom tissues or napkins. Other than that; such a great deal for new movie releases and in the comfort of your car. Por vida is advertised to serve champurrado, Mexican hot chocolate in the thick form, but the tamal guy at his cart (called Tamales Pepe) served a pretty damn good version too. His chicken mole tamales at $3 each were also muy deliciosos! Such a festive & fun event! We went for their Christmas rendition called "Noche Buena" so there were lots of lights, Christmas trees, and garland everywhere. I find swap meets to be kind of entertaining. Lots of knick knacks to sort through, kids toys and clothing, random things to see, and maybe you'll find something you didn't know you were looking for. I was specifically here for the fabric, and came across a few booths selling huge rolls and cutting them by the yard for roughly $1-$3 a piece. They had a wide variety from silk to velvet to cotton to fleece to linen to glittery mesh fabrics with lots of different prints. I chose a variety of floral patterns and a striped linen fabric. There was another booth that sold huge rolls of thread, zippers, bobbins, needles etc. you name it! Bought more stuff here. Including the admission fees ($1/person), I probably spent just under $20 for a bunch of fabric and sewing supplies. Looking forward to my next trip here!!

It's very cute to stop by when I'm in the area visiting some local place in Encinitas. It's a little hard to find parking off the strip, but honestly, it's normally such a nice walk that it's hardly a bother to walk to. Dog friendly (with well-behaved owners) as are most places along the coast, and the vendors are normally sweet small business owners.
