I've been in the restaurant once for a happy hour and enjoyed it. It was during Christmas holidays and I loved how festive it was. This review is based on the last two delivery orders we placed. I got the cajon salmon and shrimp with a side of Brussels sprouts and macaroni and cheese. It was delicious. I was surprised at how well it traveled as we live 20 minutes away. My husband got steak and fries the first time and chicken fried steak the second time. I'm already looking forward to eating it again this Sunday. read more

Ask for our server, Melissa. She's amazing! We were at Iron Horse for the first time. Our niece and her husband are frequent visitors here and they recommended it to us. The one night recently, we had a friend in town and we had all got to talking at the house and forgotten to make dinner and it was after 9 o'clock. In Lee's Summit, your choices are limited for restaurants that are open later than that. So we opted to drive out to Iron Horse Bar and Grill. We got some onion rings that were as big as donuts and very tasty. The appetizer plate is huge; three of us couldn't eat it all. We then got a southwest salad with chicken and shared that. And I got the hot beef sandwich and Melissa suggested some garlic mashed potatoes with that. It was very delicious. The drinks were cold, but just OK. We had some specific orders and it was the bartenders first closing shift. He will get better. read more

My wife and I took a trip down to Kansas City for Memorial Day weekend to spend time with family, including my wife's uncle and mother-in-law's brother. Saturday afternoon, we decided to slip away for some much-needed time together. After doing a little shopping, we stopped by Iron Horse Bar & Grill for appetizers and drinks, and it was a great experience. We ordered the Sampler Platter, which came with crispy fried pickles, bacon-wrapped shrimp, beer-battered onion rings, and chicken strips with dipping sauces. Everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. We also enjoyed orange and mango mimosas, which were delicious and refreshing. On top of the great food and drinks, our waitress was excellent -- extremely helpful, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. The customer service really made the experience even better. If you are ever in Kansas City and need a good place to grab something to eat and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, Iron Horse Bar & Grill is definitely worth checking out! read more

We came to celebrate a family birthday we had wonderful cocktails while we waited. Best mustang margarita ever! We were a large party and Esther was our server and did a great job making sure we all were happy. My mom was very impressed with the rustic onion soup served so hot and very hearty lots of caramelized onions I. The soup. Love the large portions the chicken and shrimp fajitas were seasoned well. It came out piping hot so good! I can't wait to eat the rest for lunch! We did eat a lot of our fried mushrooms they were not my favorite the breading on them was too thick for my taste but oh my the sauce is the best! Will go back any chance I get! read more

Probably my favorite place in Lee's Summit. They always have events going on and the staff is prompt and fun. I mostly come here to escape the hotel and work, the setting is relaxed. I've tried nearly everything on the menu and there's literally nothing I wouldn't order again. read more

We went for an early dinner, had onion rings appetizer, Rueben sandwich with fries and fish n chips w truffle fries. The Reuben, classic, the fries and onion rings, fantastic! The fish n chips were ok, tastes were fine just flavors were not to my liking. I should have substituted sweet potato fries. Good food and atmosphere. I want to go back while they have live music next time. While the chicken sandwich was really good, I wasn't big on the truffle fries or onion rings. The service was good. We went for happy hour and got drinks and some onion rings. I had the breaded chicken sandwich with truffle fries. The truffle fries were irredeemable. I didn't like the rosemary truffle seasoning, and the frier oil needed to be replaced. The onion rings were a lot more batter than onion. Each one was the size of a donut. I had to drench it in sauce, The rings just tasted like grease the minute you take a bite without sauce. I probably wouldn't want to get this again. The breaded chicken sandwich was delicious. I've been wanting to visit the holiday pop-up here and finally made time to do so. I made a reservation online, and when we arrived we still waited about 20 minutes. It was very busy and crowded. It looked like they were taking both walk ins and reservations. We were finally seated, and our waitress came over pretty quickly. She was friendly, but you could tell she was working hard. We ordered two Smokey Bacon BBQ Burgers with fries. I had truffle fries with mine while my son had regular fries. It took a while for the food to come out, but with how busy they were, that was expected. The food was okay. My burger had a heavy charcoal flavor, I'm assuming because they were trying to get it well done and there were a lot of onion straws on it. I also ordered a drink from the holiday menu, and it was decent. The decorations weren't impressive, and there weren't many photo ops once you were at your seat. The entrance, waiting area, and bar seemed to have the best decorations. Overall, not my favorite holiday pop-up, and I'll need to visit again when it's not the holiday season. read more

Went in for some drinks with a friend, good vibes and great service! Ordered buffalo chicken dip and it was delicious! Bartenders are very knowledgeable and kept great energy, which I love to see! My only complaint is that the live band was pretty loud which left my friend and I quite literally having to yell back and forth to have a conversation. Overall, I would recommend for a quick night out for a bit to eat and a drink. read more

Overall rating here is too low! I can't think of better bar food in the city. The nachos, quesadillas, burgers, and buffalo dip are favorites of mine. Great service, amazing back patio. Tried the Sunday brunch buffet. At around $25 per person it was ok. There was nothing stand out delicious, though there was a good variety. Some items were good, some items were not. The temperature of the food could definitely be improved as most dishes were only warm at best. They did have an attendant at the buffet which was nice as he was very attentive. I went today for the first time for happy hour and I was seated in the bar area as soon as I arrived. My friend and I ordered the Chipotle chicken nachos for happy hour and they were piled high with toppings and the chips were fresh. I was unable to eat it all as it was a large serving but only $10. I ordered a happy hour well whiskey drink and it was an additional two dollars off since whiskey was $2 off on Wednesdays. Make a reservation! I went with a friend for their holiday popup experience. There is no fee for the reservation during the holiday popup! They offer 10 holiday adult beverages and the place is decorated with holiday decor to the max, which was awesome! We tried 4 different holiday drinks and they were all delicious although I'd recommend to opt out of the edible glitter rim added to the glass.The atmosphere is fun with tons of holiday decor and all of the staff dressed in holiday attire. We went shortly before the end of happy and took advantage of their many happy hour options prior to our meal. The food was great, our waiter was very polite and attentive, until it got busier and we had to wait well over 30 minutes after we'd finished our meals, before he came back and we could ask for our check. I asked another waiter to alert our server that we needed the check and he still didn't come over. I asked the same server again to alert our server and finally a 3rd server presented our bill. The portions are generous and having had drinks and appetizers before our meal, we were unable to eat much of our delicious entree and took most of them home to enjoy the leftovers. Iron Horse also has nightly specials and calendar events such of karaoke and live music. read more

Love Iron Horse! I work nearby and we order it at least once a week. Their lunch specials are delicious and the portions are pretty large. The staff is super sweet and very helpful. They never mess up our large order. The menu is big and there's something for everyone on there. The ambiance in the restaurant is chill but upscale. The food was subpar. Onion rings were pretty yummy, the brisket was bland and the bbq sauce on it didnt taste like bbq sauce. The brisket looked like it was steamed or boiled, although tender, def not bbq. The mashed Potatos it came with were delicious and the carrots were a hit or miss. I'd get some soft delicious carrots and some undercooked hard carrots. Their steak was delicious, the seasoning were great! Although their potatoes were hard and partly cold, they tasted raw. Very disappointing. Our waitress was sweet but very inattentive. We needed extra sauce and didn't see her for a while, we saw other waiters pass by constantly but not ours. I'd understand if it was busy but it was not. All in all, I wouldn't comeback. There are better places that serve food that is worth your money. read more

They really don't have to be loaded, we just wanted to try it. They can stand alone though! The chicken wings were hot, perfectly sauced & the skin was nice & crisp! My daughter loved her hot dog & fries as well! Now lets talk about the space! The space is HUGE! So many tables, booths, etc. you could have a huge party & get seated comfortably! We went to watch a Chiefs game and this place was so much fun! There were TVs everywhere and it was clean, bright, and not overly loud (you could carry on a conversation). Had a really really delicious brunch buffet here with a large group. So many great breakfast offerings and all very tasty and good quality. I particularly enjoyed the scrambled eggs with peppers in them. The different syrup and sauce and toppings available for the waffles and pancakes were great too. The service was amazing, very attentive and personable, as well as continuous people monitoring the buffet foods and refilling if anything got low. It was our first time there. Went to try out the Ruben Tuesday Special. Our very competent server, Jordiyn was great helping us with navigating the menu and answering ALL of our questions. My 88 year old father has tried Rubens "all over the world" so he was very excited to try one at a place new. Went for Monday night burger special. I ordered burger with chips instead of fries. Told server probably couldn't eat whole burger so she suggested they cut it in half for me. Great! Bill came and there was a $3 upcharge for getting chips instead of fries and $3 upcharge for cutting my burger in half. What the H*ll? Server said she didn't know of these extra charges and when asked the manager, he could of cared less, and said it is what it is. Server did not tell us this due to lack ok training. We were never told of any up-charges. Went to discuss with Server's Manager. Manager was not interested in discussing so told him we'd never be back. His response, OK. At this point I told him he needed to do his job better in training his staff.
