Been here a few times. The pop-up for Christmas was absolutely delightful and the drinks were delicious. I ordered the cousin James, which came in a really cute boot. My niece ordered the spiked hot chocolate and she loved it. We ordered the barbecue fries as an appetizer and it was delicious. Previously, we've come here during bar crawls and also love when the menu changes a little bit for Oktoberfest. My parents absolutely loved their bloody Mary's. The wings are yummy as well as the brisket sandwich. It is one of my favorites. I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. read more

Another holiday pop up checked off the list and this one is one of my favorites! This was our second year visiting Smoke Brewery's holiday pop up and the decor like last time was so fun and festive. Bring your cameras because you will want to take lots of photos. It seems to stay pretty busy, so we always make a reservation and are seated quickly when we arrive. The staff is friendly, and the food and drinks are good. This time, my son and I split a smoked BBQ burger with a side of mac and cheese. I liked that they split it for us before bringing it out. We subbed the fries for mac and cheese since we had already ordered the loaded BBQ fries appetizer, which we really liked. I do wish the fries had been fried a little harder before being loaded, but overall it was a good choice and plenty to share. A new holiday tradition in the making... we'll be back next season. read more

Decorated for this years Christmas pop-up theme it was a great setup for a week night out and BBQ. Service staff were attentive and quick to offer their recommendations on food and drink. Well we made it to another halloween pop-up tonight. The Halloween decorations were very welcoming fun to sit and look at while have conversation and drinks like the Dirty Worm were just ok. Service was OK. The food was not very good. My Turkey Pesto Hoagie Sandwich for 17.00 was very bland and dry, I could have gotten a better one at Quiktrip. Tim's said his barbecue platter of brisket, pulled pork and burn ends were very very dry. l'll say ambience was very fun and entertaining. I would not go back to eat. Holy hell, their burnt ends are some of the tastiest! It's pork belly so you get that good layering of it. The beans are absolutely amazing as well. Our server is so cute too, and she's given us very good service. I wasn't staying long but this is a repeater for sure. read more

From their fun holiday pop-up bars (with lots of photo ops) to their happy hour and everything in between, the food and service has always amazing. I came here for lunch w a friend who lives in the area. He had recommended it so that we could grab some drinks and food. The spaces in downtown Lee's Summit and a decent size. The restaurant portion is towards the front and the bar is towards the back. They have a variety of beer to choose from and I had two and they were both good. The barbecue sandwich I had was on special and it was really good. I would definitely come back here for that sandwich as well as some brews. We had great service as well. She was very helpful since I told her I had never been in. Overall I would come back when I'm in the area. read more

I am torn between giving the restaurant/brewery 3 or 4 stars. Let's start off by saying the beer is great! Lots of fun, delicious options. Moving to the food. I believe their ownership changed and you can tell with the food. The food is now very, very average (especially, sadly, the ribs). We will continue to visit Smoke, but purely for the beverages alone. As far as the environment, it's clean and well taken care of. We do not prefer when they shower the restaurant with decorations around the holiday (call us Scrooge). The service is now also fair to midland. read more

Met up with some friends at Smoke Brewing.. before Christmas and they had it set up as a Grinch theme! The decorations were so cute and vibrant. They had a special menu with Grinch themed drinks.. such as "Yellow Snow" "The Grinch", "You're 8 years old and you have a beard!" "Cindy Lou Who" and "Cheer Meister Mule." We ordered some apps which were amazing. Most memorable was a cheese dip with bits of smoked brisket in it. Cute place with great food. read more

We went on a Sunday. 4 adults were nowhere near enough to conquer The Beast, which was their Sunday special. Every single item on that massive slab was an absolute hit, so do not ask me to pick a favorite. The server was on the ball and made sure to keep our drinks full. He frequently checked on us and we appreciated his efficient and friendly service. It was surprisingly empty for a Sunday late afternoon, but the TVs were on so we could watch the games. It was not terribly loud and we were able to enjoy chatting over the food. read more

Chris, Brian and I were brewery hopping and got hungry so we chose to eat here since they serve food as well. We had our eyes on the Beef 3.0 but they were out of it at 4 pm. Next option was the Pork Belly which they were out as well. What??? At 4 pm??? We ended up ordering the Patty Melt. The description says 2 patties but the sandwiches came with just one. Neither Chris or I were happy about that. They were just okay. The truffle fries were good though. They were busy so there was quite a bit of a wait to get our food. Food was good but not great. The brisket was moist and tender. The service was very good but they were down to one cook so the wait for the food was about 25-30 minutes. Our sever did keep us informed and our drinks full. The shredded brisket was only ok but on the sandwich with the combination or ingredients was far better. Either get that sandwich or the sliced brisket and you will be satisfied but not overwhelmed. The sauce. Decent but not outstanding. The "hot" was not that hot but had a distinct taste of celery. The beans were fair at best and the Mac and cheese was a bust. No flavor at all. The fries were pretty good. This place is half bar and half casual tables and not super loud so you can easily carry on a conversation. It's a solid 3 stars. Better than Taco Bell but again in n out takes the win. read more

Beer review Herd of turtles Very very light Pilsner, but good flavor Saison vista If you imagine a standard saison, this is what it tastes like Totally average kahuna Lightly fruity, light beer. Not as pale as other pale ales. Tasty, probably my second favorite. Pulled pork sandwich Not at all spicy, one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've ever had. The house slaw is the perfect sauce- no need for extra sauce. They cut it back in the kitchen, which was very appreciated service wise. The egg bun was a perfect smooth, sweet bread- almost like a brioche. Just perfection. The sweet potato fries are up there with my favorites as well- perfectly salted, and just a little limp (my favorite). I could eat them all day. Mcsteamy Tastes like a light cream ale at first taste, with an entirely different finish. Stellar, probably my favorite beer out of everything we tried. Yelling at clouds The name of this one made me laugh. Simpsons reference? Lightly hoppy, drinkable but I'm not a huge ipa fan Shelter in haze Fruity on the front end, hoppy on the back end. Tasty but a little hoppy for me. Highly, highly recommend. I would absolutely return, and look forward to trying other menu items. We were so excited to try this place but we were disappointed with just mediocre again. It was over the top on decorations and very short on flavor and quality. We did like the brisket sliced thick but what was the casing still doing on the sausage on the sandwhich? ‍ A hot chocolate for $10 ? The Keltic Cross beer was ok. Hands down, by far the best salmon I've had, in awhile! Both, my sister & I were quite surprised. It was packed with flavor, savory and just down right perfect. Sis had the meatloaf, it just didn't look appealing. The beer flight, not my cup of tea but my sis def loved 3 of the 5. The old fashion, was great..not perfect! I've been several times and was always satisfied every visit. I decided to create a free membership account which has some good perks. Beer menu appears to rotate and I've been able to get a new beer each visit. The food itself is delicious, I've had the brisket fries, and pulled pork burger. I've also swiped a bite from friends and can say the other items are just as good. They also cook your burger to your preference. Only time I've had a problem with service was from a misheard order on trivia night and there was lots of noise, so I didn't mind! The receipt still matched what I ate and I was fine with what I ate. Pretty comfortable atmosphere, dark, but still able to see clearly. Will need to try the patio once it cools off. The free membership they offer gives you a BOGO beer coupwhere for any beer of equal price (I believe once per month). And a 10% off on any meal coupon. read more

I enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere of the place so fun! I would say it's great for cocktails and appetizers! I loved the grinch cocktail and the appetizers of chicken wings and pork belly were really good an we all enjoyed them. It was a large group we were celebrating a bday. Being so close to Kansas City an we have so many bbq places it just was not up to par. That brisket was so dry and tight.. it did not taste like it had been on a grill the turkey did not have a smoke taste or ring it was very wet tasting like the deli kind they cut for sandwiches. Their cheesy corn was tight made with their beer cheese I would guess. I would go again for drinks an snacks with friends great for that. My grilled cheese would have been great but you can see from the picture they burnt the bread on both sides. The burnt taste just overpowering the cheese and pork belly slices. It was super busy and I did not want to send back plus I was so hungry I just ate it. I did tell the manager that stop by our table to tell the kitchen to put some butter on the bread and toast it and not burn it! That would have given it that crispy texture and buttery flavor with the good cheese and pork belly it would have been a big hit. read more

Disclaimer: Beer review only. Bumped up against the railroad in Howard Station Park, Smoke Brewing is an anchor of downtown Lee's Summit. It's easy to find and even easier to enjoy. Do you favor malt, or do you favor hops? Doesn't matter, as a Smoke Brewing will sate either palate and do it very nicely. On this visit, I sampled a Citra-hopped brew called 'Obscura', juicy and not too hazy all at once as well as a tremendous brown ale called 'Brindle', and both were smashingly good. There is very little that is not covered on their tasting menu, from pale ale to stout, with everything in between. Jeff (their resident bourbon wizard) even shared a taste of his 'brown sugar old-fashioned' with me, a sensational blend of bourbon and sugar that was well south of your average bourbon kick. When combined with a smoked orange peel, this was a fabulous cocktail base. But again, the beer. Smoke is serving up artisan beer and serving it strong. The color on their caramel-ly brews is absolutely phenomenal, clear and malty, and their IPA game is totally on point. I highly recommend a glass of 'Citra Obscura'. a pint that announces its hops on the front end but disappears on the back. I have not yet sampled the fare (hence, only a beer review), but the beer is outstanding and makes for its own brand. Great bar, great beer, great place. read more

Best wings hands down. Naked, sauced--they're amazing. I literally tell everyone they have to try Smoke's wings and with the white BBQ sauce! We usually sit at the bar and have always had great service there. The food and drinks are always great. We even have visited the new location inside Epic and it was a great experience. The DTLS location has a great atmosphere, and can get a little loud when busier, but overall not terrible. I love their large patio as well in the spring and fall. Would not recommend this place if you're looking for BBQ. I ordered the Mac and cheese with brisket, crispy onions, and jalapeños, which alone was $23. I also ordered a side of baked beans which was $7, but I was expecting a good amount of baked beans. I was wrong, it comes in a salsa cup. The mac and cheese is runny, the brisket is dry and tastes like the microwave it was cooked in, the crispy onions are chewy, but the jalapeños are fine but that's hard to mess up. The baked beans are definitely Bush's. Overall very disappointed and for the price point is not worth it. read more

Holy burnt ends!!!!! How have I tried so many places in KC and not found any truly mindblowing burnt ends until now!? Granted I'm not from KC and thus cannot judge true burnt ends, but as a Floridian, Smoke's burnt ends are the embodiment of the burnt ends of my dreams! Both beef and pork options have something unique to offer. The beef ones are meatier, tender and juicy with a deep umami flavor. The pork ones are like literal candy, fatty and unctuous and melt-in-your-mouth with a crisp sear. They're both insanely good and the two meat platter is the best way to experience them. Their beer is also very good! Let's not forget about that! I thoroughly enjoyed my Black Udder Stout and the Vietnamese Coffee Stout, and I enjoyed even more that they offer smaller 5 oz pours for lightweights like me! If you're trolling for BBQ and/or beer in Lee's Summit, (and let's face it - who isn't?) this is definitely the place to be! read more

One meal had to be sent back due to being burnt and was brought back burnt again. They did comp the sandwich. Service was horrible. No waitress for a while then once we had one, she disappeared again. We had to request refills from anyone walking by, when we could get their attention. We had to flag down the host a few times and ask for him to find her. Soup was not served before the meal as requested and even flagging down staff, glasses remained empty. I would recommend the fun atmosphere but don't dine here if you're looking for great food and service. You simply won't get it. . read more

We went here for a friend's rehearsal dinner in the side event space. Service was subpar and didn't seem super organized, but the food was good overall. My friend called to discuss with the manager after the event and was met with no apology and the craziest defensive strategy I've ever heard. They stated our group was drunk and belligerent (not true at all, especially considering the fact that individuals received max 2 drinks per person with drink tickets) and accused my friend of being drunk when he called to discuss. Also, there was only one bartender who had to leave for the main area if anyone wanted beer since the taps were not being utilized in the side room. Just very unprofessional and can't understand how you can run a business this way in the service industry. I also tried to go here in the past with a reservation and they didn't have a table for us. The hostess had a friend show up and was more concerned with that than her job. We ended up being seated in the patio area and no one came to take our orders so we ended up just leaving. read more

I don't get to Lee's Summit often but after visiting Smoke Brewing Company this weekend I should rephrase that in saying - I don't get to Lee's Summit often enough. The downtown area of LS is full of bars, restaurants, shops... and is a vibrant base for a city of 100,000 and one of the fastest growing in the state, and fits well in this bustling downtown area. SBC took best in class for food, beer, service and atmosphere in my opinion. Perfect upbeat music playing at just the right volume, well lit, old brick walls, a bar and multiple seating options gave the place an urban vibrancy that most suburban locations of this genre often lack. Our waiter was charming and efficient and gave us great advice on navigating the menu. I started with a Bavarian Saison that was most excellent and a 6.8 ABV if I remember correctly. Smooth with a kick. My wife and I shared the 2 meat tray. We chose Beef Burnt Ends and sliced Brisket to go along with the baked beans, cheesy corn, toast and pickles. We also added a side of the best seasoned fries ever. Brisket was thick, fork slicing tender and a great smoke ring. Burnt ends were charred right and fall apart tender and succulent when placed into mouth. Beans were well above average with meat and the corn was the cheesiest I've ever had. Sauce was very unique, the small cup provided was just enough for an occasional dip, it seemed to have a predominant maple syrup base. Pricing was high, but quality justified the adequate portions. Zero complaints. Eager for a return trip. read more

Often people visit Kansas City downtown or many other places to enjoy a nice bar. Great cocktails, good food, but this place had something really different. They had amazing truffle fries, great aïoli, grade, barbecue, and sweet selection of beers. Try to get your hands on some flights and some really good service, their staff is really friendly and had great suggestions on the food.
