Anyway I was simply setting at the bar and having 3-4 drinks in the mean time. Out of nowhere the female bartender gets a attitude and calls the police on me. No warning, no cut off of drinks no water offered.. Apparently she was tired of serving the only 5-6 people even there and wanted to go home. So she basically tried to ruin my life. I left, but did meet the Police outside and explained I had done nothing. Told them to go in and look at the camera surveillance. The came back and I said ok you didn't do anything but they have banned you from their business. They also said this bartender commonly calls them like this???? I said good I could never trust this place again anyway. I should have know why the parking lot is always empty. Go figure a bar that serves you alcohol and then calls the Police??? Tried Johnny's for the first time, and it exceeded my expectations! The atmosphere was great, with plenty of seating options, including high tables, bar seating, booths, and even outdoor seating. There were tons of TVs throughout, and we even had our own mini TV right at our booth! Our server, Tate, was incredibly friendly, quick, and provided excellent service, answering all my questions. As far as a recognizable local watering hole goes Johnny's Tavern is as regional Midwest as it can get...that is if you rep the Jayhawks of course since Johnny's is a Lawrence transplant that has been franchised. Just about in every suburb in Kansas City you can find a Johnny's, from Leawood to Lee's Summit. And the food and atmosphere is comparable at just about every location which makes it a recognizable experience just about every time. That consistency is key when it comes to sports bars because, when food quality and service depends on the day then it isn't a place you want to call your "home bar" but, Johnny's hasn't seemed to falter in years. This particular location came through for a win after a long day purusing Powell Garden (review to come later!) and definitely was a crowd pleaser. The chalkboard specials menu is where it's at! Just check it everytime you come in and be amazed and what you can find discounted, on this date the white cheese dip appetizer was $5 and the pork tenderloin sandwich was $9.99. We all indulged in some queso to start and I was pleased to find Space Camper on draft and once the chili, salad and sandwich came we were very delighted by the warm cheese and salty chips in our bellies. This is the second year my team has held their Holiday party at Johnny's. Better than last year. The party room is great. Music can be shut down in the party space. Service was really good. The appetizers we had were excellent. I am especially fond of the fried pickles! There is a kick of heat in them. The nachos were great too, but my favorite is the chicken street tacos. Had a family birthday here Saturday and the place was clean, the staff was super helpful and the extra room we got was amazing. It held 30 people comfortably. My husband had the egg burger. The egg was exactly how he wanted it, however, the rest of the burger was bland and needed salt for him to be able to eat it. Barely any fries with either entree. My chicken tenders were hard and dry. Our favorite part of the meal was the Tavern Espinaca. Was a pretty quiet dinner. Not too busy on a Monday evening. However, our waitress could barely be bothered. We ordered water and our appetizer. It came out right before our food did. Took almost 20 minutes to get our check. This is a good place to go to on a casual outing with friends. I went here with my husband and daughter. The music was loud inside, so we opted to sit outside, but before we ordered we realized that the music volume was practically the same. Anyway we end up sitting back inside and then ordered some drinks. We had the chips and queso and the the pretzel with cheese. Both were good. The pretzels came out hot with the perfect texture of being slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. My husband had the fried shrimp platter with hush puppies and cole slaw. I don't like cole slaw, but the one they make here I could eat any day. My order was the burnt ends with broccoli and elote. The burnt ends were too sweet, the broccoli was oversalted, and the elote wasn't even elote. It was like canned corn and cotija mixed with pico de gallo. The last time I was here I ordered street tacos and it was disappointing as well. The noise level was still really high and it made for unpleasant conditions in having a conversation with someone seated across from you. The temperature of the restaurant was also uncomfortably cold. It felt like I was sitting inside of a refrigerator. I also couldn't tell the employees from the customers because they were dressed so casually in like sweatshirt dresses, tank tops, and shorts. There was nothing to define that they worked at Johnny's Tavern. Overall not a bad place, but they butcher every Mexican dish and it just doesn't have an atmosphere that is enjoyable for me. read more

You know what's fun? Showing up to a bar and restaurant on a Friday to unwind. Chosing the bar, because you know, that's where the adults go to unwind. Then having a waitress on her day off come to find her husband drinking miller lites at the bar with her two infants. Her deciding to stay while the older kid runs all around the bar screaming, and the younger one just screaming because, you know, he's 14 months old in a bar. Yeah, her staying while the staff try to entertain the screaming kids and the husband just keeps on drinking those pops. Fun Friday. This place was nasty. We spent $50 on a burger, tacos and fried pickles and left more than have of everything untouched. The fried pickles were beyond salty and the ranch was like water. The burger was very bland. The shrimp on the tacos was fine. Every single sauce they had either on the table or with our meals was disgusting. The jalapeño ranch and green salsa that was served with the tacos both tasted like olive juice? Gross. The bottles sauces on the table were also disgusting. After a long time of social distancing and not attempting to hang out with people, I decided I could make the effort to be around people for one day. So after a day in KC, we went to Lee's Summit because everyone in the group lived there. One of us chose this place to eat and I've always heard of it from my KU days cause this place has locations all over Johnson County. Now it's not a place I would normally go to so I was like what am I gonna eat? I saw they had tacos on their menu and immediately knew that was what I was getting. Best thing was they were SHRIMP tacos. I love shrimp tacos a lot. They are my favorite kind of protein for tacos. My friends got burgers and another person got the teriyaki stir fry. I personally wouldn't get their teriyaki stir fry cause it looked drenched in sauce and I don't like my meals heavy in sauce. I'm not a big burger fan but if I ever have a burger craving, I could get one here. I loved my shrimp tacos though. They were incredible. I got their firecracker shrimp tacos and they mixed teriyaki sauce with some spicy sauce. They were generous with the cabbage, pico de gallo, shrimp. I honestly even thought about getting them again the next day but at a location in OP cause I don't live in Lee's Summit. Overall my food experience was good here. Ordered a Guiness and got a Dunkel. When I flagged her down and said, "This is not Guiness," she said okay and took it away. When she returned, she said, " it may not taste like Guiness, but it sure looks like it." Nope. Dunkel is more amber and not a thick head. Anyway, my son got a kids' cheeseburger, which is all he ever wants anywhere. At the end of the meal, he only ate like two bites of it. When I was putting it in the "to go" box, I noticed it was rare. Like red, not pink in the center. She said she took it off the bill, but when I asked for a receipt, she blew me off, walking by my table 4 times without acknowledging me. After 15 minutes, I had to flag down the manager to get my receipt. When she finally did bring it, there was no apology for the delay, just a drop off. I've never seen waitresses in sweatpants until this place. I ordered the basket I assumed came with fries which was wrong on my part because it only came with the chicken tenders. so once I got that figured out, I asked how much the fries were and paid for them. In less than 2 minutes she came with a white bag that had fries in them and they were cold, not even fresh. I had waited over 10 minutes after my pick up time and I did not want to wait any further and complain about my order after I asked about the basket already. I left the restaurant disappointed and defeated. I think, when ordering online next time, the chicken strip basket should be labeled that it does not come with the side as a basket at other restaurants typically comes with fries or a side. Again, I am a big supporter of the restaurant industry but that night my expectations were let down. read more

So MOLLY is a superstar server. We plan to request her station every visit. We've been here a few times previously and we've always had good service, but today was exceptional. Molly is just so friendly and attentive, she made our night. She also gave us a fabulous idea: For the next end of season baseball team party, we can't wait to reserve a Monday night party in the back room (accomodates 40-50 ppl) and take advantage of the $12 pizza special 18" (they can cut into thinner slices or into squares for the kids!) and the $5 big beer. I highly recommend the $17.00 Nuke Laloosh pizza: Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Canadian Bacon & hamburger - it's balanced beautifully and is our go to. Tonight we did a 4 topping special: pepperoni, Italian sausage, fresh basil and mushroom - YUMMY! I'd absolutely order this again. We truly enjoyed the extra cheese too. We usually order a side salad for an extra $2.99 and hubby and I split it. The pizza is so good we order it often, which is why I really LOVE the Monday special - $12 for any pizza specialty (or up to 4 toppings) Delicious crust, super fresh toppings and perfect cheese and sauce. YUM. Again. This is my FAVORITE pizza in town. And to get it for $5 off...well, it makes it taste even better. I've also indulged in the espinaca which is tasty, and I remember the salads were generously portioned. I gave this location another chance . I called in my compliant after trying this location for the first time. I order wings that were raw. I can say management sent me a gift card for the raw wings issue. Tonight I finished my bowling league and decided to use the gift card. Person who answer phone polite. I placed my ordered of a transitional cheese burger with lettuce,tomato onion, pickle. Ticket number40154 My burger was over cooked had no salt or pepper none of the items I requested above were in the sack. No ketchup for the over cooked fries. It definitely filled the bill -- had the requisite hundreds of TVs all over, plus each booth had its own dedicated screen. Maybe not exactly conversation-enhancing, but good for our task at hand. Service was good and attentive. One hiccup -- our pizza order lacked the grilled chicken topping we requested. Johnny's has a pretty broad menu, so a large family/group will have lots of options. Up and Under Burger with bacon and avocado was quite good, with a nice ciabatta bun to hold things together. We asked for a rare burger. Both of ours came out well done. Plus the egg on my husband's burger wasn't runny like we asked. So, when the waiter came back to us he reorder our dinners. I want to say the bartender Rae which is short for Rachel makes some really good drinks, we sat out by the fireplace and enjoy drinks, old friends catching up after a few years. I want to say this place is great, we met Miranda, Dalton, Dillon, and Savannah was our server, she made sure our drinks stayed full and since we were unerring we were really able to enjoy ourselves. We also met Chris who I believe was part owner came out to greet us, we had so much fun here I will definitely return. In my opinion this was the worst service I have received at any establishment ever. I ordered a melt, expecting a toasted hamburger sandwich. I received a plain white bread hamburger with butter on the bread and the ingredients spread on my trey. When I asked the server to fix it she couldn't understand what was wrong... I informed her that it needed to be toasted and wasn't done. She took it back to get fixed and I thought all was done. A few minutes later the manager came and asked why I returned the food and what my issue was. I informed her that I wanted the melt toasted and that it hadn't been toasted at all. She said "we don't place the cheese on the grill". I said "never mind, I'm good just cancel the order". As she felt with another upset table, offering them a gift card for a messed up order. I looked up "burger melt" in google to show her. When she was finished I showed her the images. Her response was "so you want it extra toasted". I said "no, I want it toasted at all, what I got was plain bread with butter". She responded again with "so you want it extra toasted". Again I said "no, it wasn't toasted at all and I want it cooked like the picture". They returned awhile later with my hamburger in a bag and said "we fixed the hamburger and comped you meal, but because of the level of volume we're going to give you boxes to take this to go". My wife and I both said no boxes were needed and she brought one for my daughter anyway. When I said we were good to go she argued with me. I didn't want free food. I wanted to be treated with respect. I eat out 3-4 times a week, I rarely have issues and have returned food 6 times in 20+ years. My wife is a server, knowing that it wasn't the servers fault we left a tip anyway. This was the worst experience I've ever had.
