A five hour repair turned into three weeks and $200 more than the quote, for work they knew was going to be done. After the initial repair failed they never called me. I made contact after a week and then again a week later to find the repair was complete. After I got my motorcycle home I found out the oil level was a full quart low after they changed the oil and filter. I'm very dissatisfied with the bait and switch quote, the lack of communication and the work of the tech. read more

I have been using Iron Horse for the last ten years or so to get my BMW parts and service. I usually have older bikes and I understand that the parts and service are going to be expensive at a dealership like Iron Horse. I have not purchased a bike from them. Generally, I appreciate that the office is quiet and no one really pressures me on sales. You often have to wait for service as they are busy or talking with each other, but they take my order and get me on the road in a reasonable time. I can place orders on the phone and pick up quickly. There are no discounts and you pay full retail, and mostly friendly. On the service side, They are busy! They have many bikes going in and out because they are pretty much the only BMW servicer in town. (Shout out to Bee Mer Werx) They have taken care of my bikes and I loved how they helped me out and talked through some work. It is expected that the cost would be higher at a dealer but they would get my approval and explain any issues...until one time they didn't. A little over 2 years ago I took my functioning 2004 R1200CLC in to change my brake lines to metal. They did a great job for the expected price but told me that the computer was having trouble talking to their diagnostic. Immediately, after I left the speedometer died, the brake light failed and warning on my iABS lights. I took it back only going about 10 miles. They really blew me off and refused to take any blame or to even do a cursory check of the issue. Based on hindsight research, they should have immediately recognized the iABS failure and gave me the info and been willing to take in to the shop to check out for 30 minutes...given what I just paid. Truthfully, because I trusted their integrity, it hurt as a customer. I still use Iron Horse for parts, I think it was just a bad day or they were busy. But it put me off going to them first. Now I order online first and go to them only if I need a part quick. I love looking at the new bikes and at the Motorrad clothing and accessories. I hope my last service experience was a one off, but it has put me off. I think they need to remember, as long as a customer is talking to you they will continue to be a customer, but if you don't listen they will leave after 1 bad experience. read more

I have been here several times over the years. I have never felt welcome in the store, never approached by a sales person. I have tried to ask questions of those on the floor, but I have been ignored. I have tried asking question online through their website and received no response. Many of my friends have no issues with the sales department, but since they aren't here writing this review this is based on my experiences. With all of this you might question the 4 stars. I will say their service department has been great. Whenever I call they are very responsive and helpful. The mechanics have also been helpful in tracking down issues I have had and helped me know what going on with my motorcycle and what needs to be done to fix the issue. read more

On the road from Alaska, stopped for a short notice fuel leak fix, happily done in a couple hours. So, scheduled a 12k service and flew home for a week. Returned to a ready to go GS, fully serviced and inspected with some minor repair, replace and adjust. Bike's running better, smooth and quiet so, with new confidence, am off to lower my latitude, cross into Zona Tiempo Mañana. Saw a 1999 BMW R1100RT on the Iron Horse web site. As i live approximately 4 hours away, it was not convenient to just "pop" in to look at it. I had a couple of question so i sent an email. Within a very short time, i got a phone call from Ken K. He answered all my questions, plus gave me brief history on the motorcycle, and its current condition. I also asked for some additional pictures of the RT. Ken sent pics later that evening and also gave me his cell phone number in case i had any additional questions. Didn't want to call, so i fired off an email that evening, and received an answer about 1 hour later. FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE !! The next day i decided to purchase the RT. Having never bought a vehicle in another state, never bought a vehicle sight unseen, i was a little unsure. Ken walked me thru the process, answered ALL my questions, told me what paperwork to get together on my end, etc. That Saturday, i drove 4 hours to get see the RT for the first time, complete the paperwork , etc. Ken greeted my wife and I by name and guided us thru the purchase - smooth as silk. Very very painless.... I left Iron Horse completely happy with my decision and my "new" RT. I needed some valve adjustment shims for my KLR (yeah a Kawasaki!) The local motorcycle megastore doesn't carry many parts. But some BMW parts will work. So I headed to Iron Horse. It was early in the day so they weren't busy. It was fun! You can see the repair shop floor from a window in the parts department for one thing. But the guys in Parts were patient and enthusiastic. And knew stuff! (I swear, the superstore parts guys can't find their rear end unless they use both hands.) Best of all, they did shim exchanges, had an excellent supply, and only charged $4 for shims. Take a micrometer, tho, BMW shims aren't necessarily marked. I'm getting an old BMW next month. This is a really great dealership, with an old fashioned attitude regarding customer service. It's like a family in there and they are all good people. I have purchased two motorcycles from Jim and Ken since I moved to Tucson and they are always helpful, no pressure and more than fair to me. In fact they bend over backwards to be helpful. They encourage test rides. They held a bike for a month for me once when I was traveling overseas and saw it on the website. And recently in this brutal summer heat I wanted to try a shorter windscreen on my RT and Ken found a take off from another bike to try for as long as I needed to make sure it would solve my problem. It's little things like that which go a long way toward ensuring customer satisfaction. I also use their parts and service department, for everything except oil changes, which I like to do myself. I came here to buy a used vehicle. Dave Sirkow, promised me the vehicle was in exceptional condition and there are no problems. Once I got there, Jim Richardson rushed me, wanted to take my cash, and didn't think I needed a test drive. Obviously they were hiding something! This company is very dishonest, they are liars, scammers and have no integrity! The owner John Cartwright agreed to do a $2,000 refund to compensate for the not disclosed defect. Then two hours later he texted me and said he changed his mind, and that the deal would be voided. The next day the sales manager Jim Richardson told me he was not interested in my sob story, and to get the F*** off of his property! Very disrespectful, unprofessional dealership. read more

They changed my front break pads and destroyed my abs system. Then they said it was due to old unchanged break fluid on my part. Worst experience. My bike had regular maintenance. Super BMW store!!! I was on a road trip and had a flat tire. I contacted Iron Horse that evening at the close of business and they got me on the schedule first thing in the morning ahead of anyone else and got me going again in no time flat (no pun intended). The tech that worked on my bike changed my tire like he was working on a NASCAR pit crew. Super fast and friendly service. After two month's long search for a used motorcycle, I found THE ONE on CycleTrader posted by Iron Horse. I live in Austin, Texas, and couldn't afford to travel to Tucson and test drive the bike. I'm a very cautious buyer especially with that kind of money, but Jim Richardson and the sales staff at Iron Horse did a great job of providing me the info I needed. I got the bike in record time from HaulBikes and love the bike. After the sale, Jim found out that the original seller still had the second key to the bike and Jim mailed it to me a week or so later. I stop in to demo a used bike. I walk into the store at 5:30 and go to the counter for help. 2 guys sitting in the office BSing, one is sitting on the desk. He gets off the desk and asks if he can help. I explained I was here to demo a bike. I told him Jim and I spoke the day before but the bike I wanted to try was missing a part and could not be driven. I leave work early to come and drive the other one like it. That's when I get told that Jim was the only one that was authorized to allow demo rides. He then looks at the clock and says, plus there is only 30 minutes left before closing. I showed up driving a $75,000 car, obviously qualified to buy, and I'm not allowed to drive their $14,000 bike because Jim wasn't there, and..... there was ONLY 30 minutes left before close! Sorry I interrupted their BS session in office. I thought they were there to service and sell bikes. If Jim is the only one "authorized" to let some ride?(Which seems strange for a dealership) Then great, get some ambition and call him and explain what is going on! Don't give me some lame excuse there is ONLY 30 minutes before they close! If you want to stop helping paying customers at 5:30 then close at 5:30! I have been in the car business for nearly 2 decades and have spent MANY of days working well PAST closing time to help people out! It was one of the least professional things I have seen from a dealership! SAD. read more

I have purchased multiple bikes from Iron Horse and I have all of my service done there - including non BMW motorcycles. I have lived in different cities and dealt with multiple dealerships so I believe I have a pretty good frame of reference when comparing how one dealership performs over another. The owner and staff at IH always seem to have my best interest at heart and they go above and beyond whenever necessary. The technicians and sales representatives are not only highly skilled but highly knowledgeable regarding their motorcycles. With other dealerships I have found many times where I knew more about the bike I was interested in then the sales rep did. This has never been the case at Iron Horse. When reading some of the less than positive reviews regarding IH it is hard to believe that they are actually based on reality. Not every experience, or any individual for that matter, is perfect. I can only believe that the attitude required to write a hateful review may be the same attitude that precipitates a less than acceptable experience in the first place. It could also simply be one's inability to take accountability for their own actions and therefore blames someone else. If you are interest in BMW motorcycles or need service on your BMW motorcycle - not giving Iron Horse a try could be a mistake. read more

Absolutely terrible company. First motorcycle I have ever purchased and it was from these clowns who swore up and down that the bike was fully inspected and all maintenance was performed. After getting home the next day to discover the battery was shot, I hoped it was just a fluke - it was not. I took the bike to my local BMW Motorcycle dealer and had them do a proper inspection. I am now having to shell out $1,152 for repairs on a bike I just bought. I understand it's a used bike, but to misrepresent the condition of the bike? Come on... read more

Been going to Iron Horse since 1978. I've always experienced phenomenal service from them. They have receive several service awards and are known nationwide as one of the best BMW dealers for service. One Saturday evening I was riding home with a bad tire and they stayed open for me to do a tire change. Another time, they found and fixed the problem when someone else changed my front tire. You can stand there and watch them work on your bike, or sit in the lounge and watch them thru the large window they have. read more

As a relatively recent transplant to Tucson I was hopeful about finding a BMW dealer I loved as much as Max BMW back east. I needn't have worried. These guys have it going on in the same way Max does - the vibe in the shop and between the crew is excellent - loose, fun, friendly but professional. The recently expanded showroom is beautiful, comfy. They have a better-than-average selection of apparel and accessories. I have not purchased a bike there (yet) but I have had a few service experiences and they were frankly excellent: First I was seeking help dealing with BMW on my rear drive brake flange, and Brian the excellent service writer was great in contacting BMW and advocating for me. When the time came to repair the flange, their tech Jeff got the job, did it beautifully, and when the time came to pick it up he went over what he did, and also showed me an area on the bike that will need attention before long: An output shaft seal that has just started weeping a skosh. Never tried to sell me, it was just a "keep an eye on it" conversation, and he showed me where and what. He had looked over the entire bike when it was on their lift, and shared his observations. Super detail oriented, very professional. Then he helped me load the bike. Awesome. Really happy to have these folks in my new home town, enjoy every visit to their shop. Recommended! read more
