Nerd Rangers - Customer had their LaCie external hard drive literally go up in smoke. Thankfully, we were able to perform a 100% recovery!

I truly feared all of my files were gone forever. Wedding pictures, baby photos, and vacations we'd taken over the years. Plus all my music and video files. Adam and the Nerd Rangers saved almost everything for me on a 5TB drive. Their pricing is incredibly reasonable. I'd called a couple services that would have needed me to mail off the drive and they quoted me much higher rates as their minimums. I'm so glad I found Nerd Rangers. They're local and kept me updated every step of the way. I can't recommend them enough. Thanks again guys!

They ran their tests, charged me a fee and could not replicate the failure. Once I got the computer home, it crashed once the game was being played and they said they did everything they could and I was out of luck. I decided months later to see Adam at nerd rangers. He was very thorough in gaining background on the issue. He asked me whether the other repair shop tried to run the actual game? I was not sure so he went ahead and loaded Fortnite and said he would do his best to replicate the issue. Later that day he reached out to let me know that he believes he found the reason the game crashed (as it did for him) and he felt confident that he fixed the issue. When I went to pick up the computer he reassured me that if for some reason the fix didn't work he would continue to work with me to identify the problem. Happy to report that I've run multiple games with zero crashes and everything is running fine. The level of service, detailed questions and customer care was excellent. Thanks Adam!

I called Triple Check Techs and an extremely knowledgeable person answered the phone. He asked me a few questions and then told me how I could go about fixing the problem by getting an inexpensive device from a computer store. Rather than taking my computer and doing a fairly expensive fix the man helped me get my problem fixed in less than 30 minutes for $30. I will 100% use Triple Check Techs for all of my computer repairs in the future.

(One other place had an answering service.) It sounds like the business is run out of the various techs' houses; they prefer to pick up your computer and the fee for doing so ($69) is applied to the service. Tim came by a little later than he'd said (well, it was a Saturday) and was polite and professional. He called Monday with a price; computer was repaired the next day and dropped off where I work. There's a 30-day warranty for most work. Included in the $190 or so price: removing a virus, providing advice on how I got it, a reminder that our internet provider gives customers free antivirus software, a complimentary data backup, and pickup/dropoff. Hope I won't be back soon, but I'll call these folks again if I have troubles. Checks and credit cards OK.

Jaime is awesome and my own personal hero…read more Last year while I was finishing my master's degree, my relatively new PC laptop was dying slowly but surely. (Clearly it couldn't handle all the awesome I was churning out on it.) As a graduation present to myself I bought a Mac and sure enough, a mere week after I bought a new laptop my PC laptop died. Less than two years old and it was toast. (And this is exactly why once you go mac, you never go back.) One of the IT guys at my last job offered to fix it for me, but then I quit that job and felt awkward taking him up on his offer. So, no more PC for me. I was lucky that I had a brand new laptop so my PC dying wasn't the end of the world, but it had everything I did for my master's degree on there, except my capstone/thesis. No, I am not a total idiot and I DO use Dropbox, but all of my research filled it up so if it wasn't capstone related it got kicked out of my dropbox folder. Fast forward a year later, and it sat collecting dust. I kept meaning to try to fix it myself, but that never happened. It was also eating away at me that I lost *everything* I did in grad school, and considering I am actually using my degree it sucked not being able to go back and reference things I did. I kept weighing the cost of having it repaired vs. just letting it go, but one day I finally decided to take it in. I did a quick Yelp search for computer repair, and Techlife popped up first. I read the reviews about him being so amazing and the great prices, and I packed up my laptop and drove over there. I was actually expecting parking to be a nightmare given its proximity to Wrigley, but both times I came here it was super easy and I got rockstar parking right in front. I dropped it off and as promised, Jaime called me a few hours later with the diagnosis - my hard drive was bad. He could install a new one and attempt data recovery on my old one. This all went down on a Friday afternoon, and by Monday morning everything was done and... *drumroll please* By some miracle, he was able to recover EVERYTHING. It's all there, every last paper and important/sentimental photos that I forgot I had that I am SUPER happy he recovered. The best part is the price - it was so good! I got his amazing service, a new hard drive, Windows installed, data recovery, etc. for a price so low I was convinced he forgot to invoice me for something. Even the data recovery was cheap, though he did admit if he would have had to send it off it would have been hundreds of dollars. Jaime, you rock. I'm hoping all of my computers stay in working order so I don't need your services again, but if I do, I will be knocking on your door.
