Recently moved to Jefferson and decided to give this place a try! Best ribs I have ever had hands down and I lived in Memphis for ten years! This is the coolest BBQ shack I've ever visited. Pork plate comes with Brunswick stew coleslaw bag of chips and a drink all for under $10. Everything I tasted was top notch. All outdoor dining with picnic tables and umbrellas provides enough seating for 60 people. This is like being invited to a friends back yard barbecue. There's a screened porch with seating for eight and it even has a chandelier over the table. The barbecue pit is shaped like an old train engine and they use real hardwood for smoking. I've tried eating at this bbq joint 3, maybe 4-5 times over the roughly 14 yrs I've lived in west Jackson county. Once every few yrs I'll be 'hungry and in Jefferson' and tired of the usual burger fare, so I'll tell myself I'll give them one more try, fingers crossed someone there has finally learned how to bbq meat correctly. Today I've finally had what I will say is the last meal I'll ever have from them. Honestly just about the worst ribs I've ever tasted. No flavor at all, no dry rub, no smoke at all! The BBQ sauce tasted like off the shelf. It's like they pulled them out of the dry freeze pack and just threw them into an oven on 350, as-is. BBQ pit must not have any flavor cooked into it either since they don't appear to use much wood smoke or seasoning in their cooks. Idk, maybe the pit and stacks of wood outside are just for show? Oh, and only 3 half-hearted attempts at side options - I've had those before too. Honestly, if someone would open up a halfway decent bbq joint in west Jackson county they'd kill it and iron pig would be out of biz. We always go all the way to oakwood for BBQ and we have lived in the Jefferson area for almost 10 years now. I will never go out of my way for BBQ or stew EVER again. I have told everyone I can't believe I have never tried this place before. I have literally rode straight past it a thousand times! The staff was really friendly and the food came out fast. The only thing I would change about this place is the hours definitely needs to stay open later. Especially on game nights I'm sure they would do much business. Highly recommend! read more

We love the food at Iron Pig. Our complaint is this : what kind of restaurant closes at 7:00 pm on a Friday night and runs out of food at 6:30? Also seemed like an inconvenience to serve us. We chose to get Iron Pig instead of Big Oak hut will rethink it next time! read more

Stopped at Iron Pig while driving by. Great service and friendly staff. Now onto the food. The pulled pork sandwich (my standard measure for a BBQ joint) was very generous and tasty. There was a nice smoke ring on the pork and lots of crispy goodness. Try the hot sauce, you will not regret it. read more

Best baked beans I've ever had. They are sweet with 3 types of beans and ground MEAT. The pork is tender, juicy, and perfectly smoked. Finally, the whole chicken is one of the best around. It;s so tasty it doesn't need the BBQ sauce (but it's even better with it). I highly recommend the cole slaw too! read more

We pass this (always busy) little stop daily. On a rainy, dreary day, we by chance decided to give it a try... for the same amount that would normally feed just two of us, we were able to get enough food for a small army! We aren't super big BBQ fans here, but let me just say this... There wasn't a drop of food left and it was only three of us that ate!!!!
