A friend told us about Iron Rooster. We had never been there before but were looking for some special items to put together to give our lovely neighbors. Frederick was very attentive and helpful and introduced us to his wife, Miran. The shop itself is like stepping right from Fairhaven into an old European shop. Miran made some suggestions and we left it in her hands. She is extremely creative and we could not be more pleased with the result! This bakery is fine for Bellingham. The pastries were fine. Coffee was fine. But the way you pay is not fine. They use the standard Square payment method where you expect to sign on an iPad screen. However, they have removed interaction with the iPad screen and do not allow you to sign because of their COVID precautions. So here's the rub - customers can't choose to leave a tip if they're not signing the screen. So you will be asked...out loud...in front of everyone else in line - "Great, that'll be $18.39. WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEAVE A TIP?!" I always tip, but asking customers for a tip out loud in front of everyone is very uncouth. It would be far more respectable to simply wipe the iPad screen after each and/or provide hand sanitizer, which would allow customers to leave tips in privacy. Or, just raise their prices and don't ask for tips. If you can afford $5 for a croissant, you can probably afford a slight markup....I wish them well. read more

LEGIT pastries and coffee just like the reviews below have stated, and probably thee best danishes, croissants, fruit tarts and brownies I've had in Bellingham thus far. In addition, I placed an order a few days via email, and I asked to pick it up outside of their normal business hours, in which they easily accommodated my request and changes to my original order. So the space itself is wonderful. No seating but well layed out. It reminded me visually of a bakery I used to frequent in NYC. I have now been there twice, and I am not sure I will back again. The cakes do look intriguing and so do the scones, but the chocolate croissant I tried was very disappointing. The chocolate itself was fine, but the layers and the slight crunch that I expect from a good croissant were nowhere to be found. My one and a half year old was rather pleased with it though. The second time I went I just ordered a cappuccino. I've had Camber's beans before and I am not the biggest fan, so I wasn't expecting to be overly impressed, I was expecting to drink it all. The cappuccino was so poorly prepared I cannot really called it a cappuccino. The shot itself tasted ok, but frankly the way the milk integrated was awful. Maybe the shot was too watery, because it tasted like an Americano with a little bit of steamed milk on top (really it was that gross). But everyone who works there is nice and the space is good. I could have just hit the wrong barista, but I will not order coffee there again. read more

I have no picture, but that's because someone graciously brought our office a box of treats and they lasted all of 5 minutes. The knives and hands dove in and everything was destroyed. The almond croissant was heaven, so flaky and buttery, and a proportionate amount of almond filling, even on top! So nice to see one filled appropriately, you really got the almond flavor. Also tied the coffee cake, so moist and full of cinnamon. We ate them up way too fast, can't wait to pick up some treats for my family some time. read more

As an out of towner, I was overjoyed to find a bakery to make a pie for my husband's 40th birthday. I emailed the owner days in advance, called him, and secured the order with my credit card. The day of my husband's 40th birthday I arrive to the bakery after a very stressful drive to the location. When I explained that I was there to pick up the pie I had ordered, the owner stared blankly at me and responded that he didn't know the order was finalized. I reminded him that I gave him my credit card over the phone and that he said it would be ready by 10 am Friday and that I could pick it up any time that day (it was already 2PM.) The owner stared blankly at me and stated that he remembered that phone call now, but did not have a pie for my husband's birthday. I was in disbelief. He did not offer to make it right. He did not offer me anything else from the bakery. As I stood there totally overwhelmed, he dismissed me and told me that he didn't know what I wanted him to do. He didn't have a pie for me. I asked him if he could recommend a place where I could get a pie and he was zero help. If you need a pie for someone special, order it from a bakery that actually wants to make it for you. read more

Pastries are so good and the espresso is as well! Only thing is they are pretty pricey but it is quality food and drinks.

By far, the best chocolate croissant in Bellingham AND the best iced coffee I've had. While there's no indoor seating, there's a lovely communal area in front of the shop that made for perfect seating in this weather! The decor/atmosphere is divine, as well. First time here. Staff was friendly and helpful. Had the quiche which was fresh and delicious. Very few tables but I did find a spot to sit because most people seem to take away. So much variety with the pastries! I was disappointed with the amount of disposables used - the utensils, plates, glasses for customers were all plastic / paper. The best almond croissants in town, perfect pastry and generous filling. Everything I've tried here -- hazelnut biscotti, pear tart, cookies -- has been truly top notch. The bakery only has 3 tables/limited chairs, and some awkward bench that was blocked. Very cute place and the selection looked nice but horrible set up. We had to leave because there was no place to sit and I wouldn't come back. Tip to the owners: invest in some more chairs if you want my business. I thought about ordering a coffee but considering it would need to be to-go and the staff seemed unable to deal with anything but serving pastries (there was no one operating the espresso) I decided against it. Cute litte bakery to stop in & grab a delicious pastry and coffee. They offer multiple different types of pastries from cakes to quiches to beautifully crafted danishes. We ordered a few berry danishes and they were very good tasty with a nice fallacy crust and ample filling. The only complaint is the coffee orders take far too long to fill. We sat in the establishment for about 10 minutes waiting for out lattes and there was only one other man in front of us. We had nearly finished our pastries by the time our coffee drinks were completed. But overall great baked goods. read more

Holy moly...we live on 10th St in Fairhaven and have been so excited to finally try out this new bakery. We stopped in today around 11 am today, the bakery was adorable, not too crowded and was full of people enjoying their sweet treats and coffee. We immediately zoned in on the chocolate almond croissants. Pretty sure we both died and went to Heaven. For a croissant, this was simply amazing. It had a crunchy sugary texture to the entire pastry, and was sliced horizontally so it could be smeared with the almondy goodness. Their chocolate sticks were perfectly melted inside, and left you feeling like you had plenty in each bite. Hands down the best croissant experience I've ever had.
