I live in Honolulu and was going to Maple Ridge to see family & looking for 3 cakes to celebrate 3 birthdays, a gluten free cupcake, a delicious, special birthday cake for my sister & a regular cupcake. I spoke with Sara, a friendly, knowledgeable person. We discussed their popular cakes and I selected their black forest cake because Sara told me the cherries were special and delicious. My niece said that her gluten free chocolate cupcake was moist and had a good texture. I "accidently tasted the buttercream frosting and it was very good. The black forest cake was phenomenal, I have never tasted a better cake, and yes, the cherries were scrumptious! The whipped cream frosting was rich, delicious and tasted like 100% whipped cream. Dark chocolate shavings generously adorned the sides of the cake with plenty of loose shaving to have a taste. All 8 adults raved about the cake and agreed that it was the most delicious thing that they have ever tasted. When we arrived to pick-up the cake, we could not resist the yummy, well displayed cakes, muffins, giant cookies & variety of other baked goods. I selected a mini ginger bundt with cream cheese filling & crystalized ginger, pecan orange giant cookie & oatmeal raisin giant cookie. The bundt had a good balance of molasses complimented the cream cheese frosting. When I visit Maple Ridge again, I will be sure to stop by to load up on their goodies & another black forest cake...unfortunately, my niece is celiac and unable to indulge in most of the pastries. I'll be dreaming about the black forest cake from Hawaii for a long long time! Sorry, I neglected to take pictures.

Larger but still great…read more La Parisienne has become a tradition when I visit Seattle. Imagine my surprise when I walked to the old door and didn't find the same welcoming space. Instead, at the end of the block I found a long line that I had to enter. The food is still great, but some of the personal touch feels missing, it feels a lot more like you're visiting a corporate cafe than a neighborhood spot. I am not saying that the staff working the tables is bad at all, it is just not the same without the manager/owner chatting with you after she serves your coffee and seeing how everything is. Or when you hear them speaking amongst each other in French, making it easy to feel as if you're a continent away. I'll keep coming back, I just miss the old feel.

I love La Parisienne. They recently expanded into the neighboring space and updated the interior,…read moreit's more spacious now and looks very nice. However, my second visit after the renovation felt different from the first one. I came for lunch, and the atmosphere had changed: there was no music, almost no people, and the space felt very quiet and empty. The old La Parisienne was smaller, cozier, and always had a lively French vibe with music and energy. For me, some of that atmosphere and soul feels lost after the expansion. It's always difficult to balance growth and modernization while keeping the original authenticity that made a place special.

I found this place while looking for coffee on the way back to Seattle after Deception Pass, and…read morehonestly this place was such a gem. I'm usually a little skeptical of themed coffee shops because I worry the drinks will be too gimmicky or way too sweet, so I almost skipped it. So glad I didn't. I was genuinely impressed. The cake was so moist and not overly sweet at all, and the drink was sweet but still had a real coffee flavor instead of just tasting like sugar. The decor and overall vibe were also really cute, and everyone working there was so nice. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the whole experience, and the quality of the drinks and desserts actually backs it up. I'd definitely come back and try a different theme next time. Really impressed by this place.

You can tell a lot of care goes into the details. The drinks my husband and I ordered were spot on--flavorful, well-balanced, and clearly made with intention. Everything felt thoughtfully done, from the presentation to the overall experience. We'll definitely be coming back, and honestly, I wish I could join their team--that's how great the vibe is. If you're looking for a place with personality, great drinks, and a memorable atmosphere, this is it.
