I had bookmarked one of these on Indy's north side based on Ken's, Wanda's and Erin's reviews. But this one is located at the I-70 exit if you are going to the Exotic Feline Rescue Center in Centerpoint. We had visited that facility in the morning and we were ready for lunch. I was not prepared for what I thought was just going to be another "truck stop" restaurant. I don't know if all Iron Skillet's are this way but this one had a an awesome salad bar. So I ordered a one trip deal to complement my meal and regretted not getting the all you can eat because they also had a lot of other hot food buffet style that I could have easily filled up on. Plus there were small dessert options so you try different ones. The salad bar section had way more choices that what I am used to. The decor was updated and not worn out. The servers very friendly and helpful. So now I'm a new fan of Iron Skillet, particularly this one. read more

Staff were arguing food was cold dude was it like you we asked for staff not very friendly place is dirty and dusty.

I've never been impressed with the Iron Skillet. The food is always cold, no matter what you get or what time you come in. We decided to use the 25% off coupon we got in the mail. My husband ordered steak and eggs. I ordered an omelette and grits. Our total was $30 (before the coupon). All of our food was cold. My husband's steak was bloody. My husband and I were traveling for work, necessary as truck drivers. We have learned that Iron Skillet is one of the better travel center chain restaurants. We pulled into this Petro in Brazil and went into the Iron Skillet. This was a visit that didn't disappoint. I had the chicken fried steak, it was accompanied by real mashed potatoes. The gravy was tasty. All of this along with the usually well turned out salad bar. My husband had the chicken fingers, he said the breading was excellent, light and not greasy. The waitress and hostess were both helpful and friendly! We are becoming frequent Skillet fliers, lol. Highly recommend the Brazil, IN location. read more

So far so good, the salad bar is limited but they have what I always get! The waitstaff are very lazy just like the lady who's supposed to be working the fuel desk, only problem is she and they will disappear for 10 to 20 minutes at a time not to be found anywhere! Found the fuel desk lady outside smoking, saw her peeking inside the window while I stood at the fuel desk before coming to the restaurant. Carrots were a little mushy but the flavor was really good. The fish tasted great too but was kind of chewy. I attribute the textures being off due to my getting there late in the lunch rush. The freshly cooked chicken was perfect. Good food. Good service. A keeper. read more

First off it always fascinates me that when I get on these websites that many of the people on these websites just can't be pleased. Those are the ones that I just want to say stay home and cook for yourself. Now for my review of this establishment. It has always been clean every time that we have been in there. They do have a buffet that I feel is a bit overpriced for what is offered. The staff is not always the friendliest but then I think of what they have to deal with on a daily basis. Truckers these ladies are not your date and they are not there to be objectified by you. They are just trying to make a living here. Leave them alone. Now let me tell you what is awesome about this place. We get the same thing every time we go here. The hand breaded chicken tenders with the crinkle cut french fries. Always made to order and arrive at the table piping hot. The ranch they have I am not sure if it is homemade or not but it is delicious. You can get the basket which comes with 6 tenders, fries and garlic toast for $7.89 which is a great price or you can pay a couple dollars more and get a trip to the soup/salad bar with the meal. They have a pretty decent salad bar if you are one who likes salads. Last night we went and they were out of both of the main desserts which was depressing but maybe it was a sign that I didn't need it. Make sure you try the hand breaded chicken tenders you can't go wrong with them!! Pepsi products is always bonus points with me!! I will post a few pics shortly. I didn't expect the food to taste good at the Iron Skillet, we have one of these back home in CA but never really tried it. I snagged the veggie omelette with hash browns instead of the country potatoes (server said they don't taste good) along with sour dough bread. The entire meal was delicious! Our server was kind and attentive, while I did find something gross I my drink, it did not ruin my experience here. read more

Well I'll start with the waitress, ok some what friendly. Now the food, Flys blowing all over the buffet, and salad bar. I order beef brisket tacos combo. The meat has no seasoning, taco shells were very grease, and the Spanish rice had no favor all. I think they should stick to what they do best. Getting hard to find a decent meal theses days. I ordered the sirloin and couldn't eat it due to quality of meat. Server was very polite and tried to make me happy, but there was nothing on the salad bar that was worth eating. I guess the price was okay, $15 for me and my kid. Next time I will go down the road and try the other truck stop buffet. read more

Reading the other reviews, maybe I just caught it on a bad night and close to closing (9:30pm). We ordered Chicken Fried Steak (CFS) for myself and Spaghetti for my wife. The CFS was huge and good. The Spaghetti not so. In fact, my wife slid the plate away after taking only one bite. I told her she should have brought the quality to the attention of the waitress, but she was reluctant to. She just compensated by taking advantage of the fruit/salad bar. My disappointment; however, was with the waitress (Lisa). For whatever reason she seemed to be in a very terse mood with multiple other customers, and her demeanor with us was anything but pleasant. She definitely had a difficult night from her tone of voice in all interactions. Hopefully, this was an exception. But, to the kitchen staff...may want to look into your pasta quality/taste. After getting my children's plates, we were told that they're closing in 10 minutes and we needed to hurry up and get our food. All four members of our family (including a 2 year old) were asked 3 times to hurry up and get our food, which left us no room on the table. my neighbor told me about this place and said they have a buffet . so we went on Christmas day to check it out, although a bit pricey we found it clean, friendly and inviting. the buffet was very fresh, and we'll stocked and tasteful. the employees were both helpful and friendly. I only gave it four stars because of the price. I do think however it was a great choice as we didn't have to cook nor clean up afterwards. I will return in the future to see what their normal buffet is like and am glad I was told about the iron skillet that not only offers a buffet ,but as well a menu to choose from. read more
