Surrounded by incredible local art, the Artists Colony Inn sets a unique experience. The building has charming colonial features. The dining room's large fireplace is cozy. I saw works of art by the original Brown County artists including L. O. Griffith, Adolf Schultz and Will Vawter. We were seated quickly and drink orders taken. The menu has basic breakfast items with homemade biscuits and locally sourced eggs and Fisher Farms ham. Our server, Sarah, was friendly and super attentive. She checked on us multiple times and kept us after glasses filled. Food came to the table quickly. We received 5-star service! I ordered the Country Ham Steak & Eggs. The eggs were light and tender. The ham was tasty. My only complaint was that the generous serving potatoes were overly salty for me. My husband had the popular Brown County Breakfast. He loved the generous portion of smokey bacon and the freshly made biscuit. (Order the biscuit!) The local eggs were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere or this restaurant is very relaxed. It feels like you are walking in to a farmhouse. The service was good and our server was helpful. It does seem like a restaurant that is more geared towards adults but my son was able to have onions/peppers removed from his sandwich. The breakfast menu is slightly limited but what they had was good. The tallow home fries were nice, crisp, and seasoned perfectly. The pancakes were fluffy and the fresh iced tea was phenomenal! It's extremely rare that I salt my food at restaurants. As far as I'm concerned, the salt shaker doesn't even exist on my table. And yet, I found myself sprinkling salt on my breakfast quiche, because the poor egg tart that I ordered tasted like nothing. What a bummer, because the quiche was super cute and hand-sized. And yet. The quiche came with a delicious cup of fresh fruit. Now, the fruit -- cut strawberries, blueberries, red grapes -- were fresh and juicy. Sometimes, it's nice to have some fruit in the morning. The coffee was excellent, which, when it comes down to it, is what really matters. My server was friendly and attentive, and was always quick to refill my coffee cup. If I were to rely on my quiche experience to rate the Artists Colony Restaurant, I would probably go with three stars. But the coffee is good, and the fruit cup is good, and the dining room is cute and there is nice seating out on the patio, which overlooks the hustle and bustle of downtown Nashville. Delicious! The omelette was tasty and cheesy... accompanied by fresh baked bread served buttery & toasted along with bacon that was just the right mix of crispy and chewy. My husband enjoyed the light, airy biscuits and creamy, flavorful gravy. We also loved the beignets served w/ fresh apple butter. My husband took way more than his share of the beignets! Artist Colony Restaurant is highly recommended. The Sweet Potato Pancakes are light and fluffy, with a delicious brown sugar pecan sauce are amazing. Fried potatoes are crisp and seasoned perfectly. Eggs prepared correctly and delicious. Get the Sour Dough Bread...it does not dissappoint. Also, recommend the French Onion Soup, Potato Skins and Bison Cheesesteak Egg Rolls...all very tasty and filling. The Turkey Manhattan is a huge serving with homemade mashed potatoes, sour dough bread and the best gravy you could want. Service is fast, friendly and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Please know that the Artists Colony Inn restaurant is a great one. Why do I say this? Well, for several reasons: 1) the food is excellent, 2) the environment is very pleasant, 3) it is conveniently located right in the middle of town and 4)... I saved the best for last... the folks that serve you are the BEST... people like Scott, Debbie, Sue, Cathy and Audrey (to name just a few), are much more than wait staff, my wife and I have come to count them as friends. And the BEST of the Best: Velva, whom we've have known the longest. How many restaurants have people that know you personally - like when your birthday is, how many grandkids you have or where you like to go on vacation? We really enjoyed our breakfast at the restaurant. I had the hikers hash. the potatoes were nicely cooked with onions and peppers. they had a little crispness with a soft center. they were a little larger than a typical hash - about 3/4 in cuts. the sunny side up eggs were perfectly cooked with the yolk runny flavoring the skillet nicely. i had the the multigrain bread and really enjoyed the heartiness and you can tell the bread was fresh. I enjoyed the coffee. It was not bitter at all. Very smooth. Sugar nor cream were needed. The service was attentive but not obtrusive. My partner had the egg sandwich. The scrambled eggs were creamy and havarti cheese was a pleasant change up to regular American or cheddar. I thought it was a great start to our adventure. read more

We went to this restaurant on a recommendation from a friend who has a home nearby. We're not regulars to Nashville, so happily took the advice. It was a mid-week breakfast, so not a high traffic time, but our experience was mediocre. Service was slow, the food was fine - but not worth the price - and we didn't feel the atmosphere/staff was welcoming to our well-behaved toddler. Visited for lunch with two friends. Ordered a chicken sandwich with cheese, and fries. Chicken was horrible, rubbery, I could not even chew it. Asked the waitress for something else, some soup. Then she insisted on taking the whole plate back, the fries too. "If you want me to take it off the bill, I have to take it all back." Really? You'd rather throw the fries away, then let me eat them? Take the horrible chicken, or even offer to just take the chicken off the bill. Kind of of dark cloud on the lunch. The soup was really good. read more

I stayed at the Inn and enjoyed dinner my first night there and breakfast my last morning. I had a few requests to work within my diet and they were super accommodating. For dinner I had the Amish Chicken and green beans. The chicken was moist, tender and cooked perfectly. The beans were cooked southern style and were delicious. For breakfast I had the Brown County Breakfast and replaced the meat with a fruit cup. Everything was tasty and much more than I could finish.
