Our appetizers were good and we enjoyed the rolls and apple butter. I don't even know where to start with the rest. There were 4 of us total so we shared everything. We did the sampler trio with mushrooms which were my favorite, cheese fries and cheese curds. The fries and curds were average. We then split the breaded tenderloin and spicy breaded chicken sandwich. I'm guessing since we said we were splitting the they split it for us but gave each person a full bun. Nice thought but you had half the meat and a whole bun. As soon as she sat the tenderloin half down in front of me I knew I wouldn't eat it. I could see the gristle and it turned me off instantly. I took a bite of the spicy chicken and couldn't even bite through the chicken it was so tough. 3/4 people spit one of the sandwiches in their napkins. It was so bad. Why a 2/5 stars instead of 1. The mushrooms were really good and the onion rings were too. The service wasn't bad. This place is in the middle of nowhere, it says Lakehouse but it's just a big pond. Amazing! My wife, daughter, and me decided to take a random road trip today and stopped in on a whim. Man, are we glad we did! What a gem!! We sat outside on their deck overlooking a beautiful pond. It was perfect! Great atmosphere and family friendly. The food was great! My wife ordered the 10-piece shrimp with steak fries. I ordered the NY Strip with steak fries. My daughter ordered the kids fish sticks with fries. My wife and I split our meals and shared with each other. My steak was a perfect rare, the breaded shrimp were absolutely delicious! Our salads were amazing too! The onion rings were a great appetizer! My daughter's fish sticks were also great! Not you typical Gordon's fish fillets. No! These were hand-battered fish! I had to try a bite. They were delicious! The service was fantastic! Our server Theresa took excellent care of us. Theresa was so friendly and made us feel right at home. Went on Mother's Day, and got a nice seat inside with a view of the water. Outdoor seating also, and a great atmosphere. Got some free rolls with cinnamon butter and apple butter. I recommend the cinnamon butter. Ordered fried shrimp with a Caesar salad and baked potato. The salad came out and was amazing! They gave me grilled shrimp instead of fried, but that's fine; I like both. I recommend ordering two skewers if you get the grilled shrimp. The baked potato was massive! They gave each mother a free little cheesecake, which looked and tasted very good! Our waitress was very polite and service was quick. Even though it's not in town, locals know this is a great place! 5 of us tried to go there to have dinner. They wanted to seat 5 people in one booth. There was table empty big enough to seat us but it was reserved. Upstairs dining was closed because outside dining was open even though it was overcast and looked like rain. We agreed to go outside to dine hostess seated us under a roof and someone else came out and said we had to move it was also reserved. The only place left was uncovered outside dining with rain in Forcast. All I can assume is they did not want our money. Very rude and unaccomidating. I ordered Cod dinner with salad and mashed potatoes. The cod was wonderful and not at all greasy. The salad and Mashed potatoes were very good too. The food is good and I recommend it. However having said that this place is in the middle of Timbuktu so if you enjoy that kind of thing it's probably a good place to go. My boyfriend got some kind of chicken dish with mushrooms and cheese and he really liked it and his fries were not at all greasy either. This was an absolute gem in the middle of nowhere. My brother and I both started with steak fries and beer cheese (loaded). We then ordered the bluegill entree with 2 sides - mac and cheese & a house salad (which was huge! - the salad a peice and splitting the appetizer would have made a meal!). Everything was fantastic. Our waitress Shaylan was absolutely wonderful - witty, right on time, and always had a smile. I ordered the special that was prime rib served cold and baked potato that wouldn't even melt the butter and cheese. I won't return and at minimum wouldn't recommend either item. Sub-par dining experience at the least and if I could give it a negative I would have. We eat here several time a year. This last visit was very disappointing. The broccoli cheddar soup was ice cold for everyone at the table and had to go back. Me and my family tried Big Willey's Lakehouse this last Sunday and I was pleased. They had a Prime Rib special and we all had it. The steaks were cooked and seasoned right. The sides were very tasty. My husband ordered one of the specials and the waitress brought him the wrong special that cost $10 more. He told her it was wrong but she refused to bring him the correct one. We asked that she at least bring the fish that was part of the special he ordered. She said it would be an additional $5. We paid the bill and she charged us full price for the wrong special! We paid $10 more more for the dinner he didn't order. With the fish it would of been $15! We eat out at least three times a week and I've never left a bad review until now. In over 20 years living in the area, this was my first time here. I can't say I was impressed. For the food they serve, it's ok. We went on a Sat afternoon in between lunch/dinner so we could get whichever. The previous night's specials were still on the board and we were kind of ignored for a few moments when we walked in. The entire menu seemed to consist of everything deep fried with one or two not-fried things. I can go anywhere and get deep fried stuff. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and as an original East Coast gal, I found them rather bland and boring, overcooked and nothing special. imo: Stuffed shrimp honestly should be baked. Lettuce in the salads was brown and there was WAY too much dressing. My croutons were basically crumbs. Dessert wasn't impressive either, something I could have picked up at a grocery store. After all this time living here and hearing about this place, I really had high hopes. I probably will not be back. read more
