Well as a truck driver I don't consider myself as a picky eater, I eat whatever I can get my hands on, so I decided to treat myself here and ordered my strip and eggs that comes with hash brown and toast, let me tell you! The only think was okay was the toast beside that, over easy egg was over cooked not what I asked for, meat was hard to chew and well done and has a funky weird taste when I asked for medium well, also the hash brown tasted like it's been cooked in a dirty oil and has a freezer burn, waiters in the background yelling and using foul language when the place has costumers, place is garbage and trashy, will not recommend anyone to eat here I should've went to ihop instead. read more

#5/2022 Well it's been a year few months so I suppose it's time for an update here. I've always liked this Petro truck stop at the Ohio Indiana State line on interstate 70 roughly an hour East of Indianapolis 35 miles West of Dayton Ohio. Like many places covid post covid they're still having their troubles with staffing the hours are currently 7 days a week though 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.. I've had a few meals since then but I've decided to update my review I had a nice breakfast on the 10th of January 2022 in the morning and came back in for another breakfast on the following morning since my load down at hills pet food in Richmond wouldn't be ready until later on that afternoon. Both times I was seated and greeted quite promptly the food was fine they're doing what they can with what they have. I hadn't had the steerburger steak and egg for a while so that Tuesday morning I did eggs over medium sourdough toast which is more like a hunky toast giant bread very yummy hash browns could have been a little more cooked but they were okay but whole meal was fine. I'll still continue to stop at this Petro when I'm in the Richmond area and make a trip out to it it's only 10 miles from Richmond which is perfectly fine to camp out for the night keep up the good work here in the skillet though food quality was just fine. read more

Our tour bus stopped here on it's way across country and I found this to be a nice place to stop. The staff was nice, much nicer than I might have been had 50 people just walked in my place of business. They have a very nice area to shop for tourist or travel items, including Ohio State Buckeye goodies, for those who adore "the red". Since this was not a food stop and can not speak to the food, but I will say the wash room was a bit of a mess and I was one of the first ones off the bus and in the facility. read more

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast. His meal was $17. Mine was $14. We each ordered coffee. Our total came to $43.81 with tax. I was shocked to see that a cup of coffee at a truck stop cost $3.79 per person. I've tried calling several times but their phone os always busy. The food was great. The waiter was new but still did a great job. I'm just in sticker shock over $3.79 for a cup of coffee at a truck stop. read more

It's about 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday 1/9/22. The place is not very busy. It is clean. I watched my waitress eating behind the line in plain customer view in between taking my order and bringing my drink. That happens a lot but as a former general manager I would never accept that kind of behavior. The food was good and served in a reasonable time. read more

Imagine a plate full of the scraps from other people's tables and you can imagine my meal. I was looking for some home cooking and I didn't want to have to clean up after myself. I've been to a number of truck stops all over the country and they're usually good. Here, the wait staff was friendly, even though they were probably very tired. I looked over the menu and ordered the Steak Tips and Gravy. I thought that $8.49 was expensive but it was one of the cheaper menu items. She mentioned that I could get soup and salad for $2.79 more, I believe. I declined. The salad bar didn't look particularly good and I'm not really much for those anyway. My food arrived and I noticed that the steak tips were tough when cutting them. I almost choked or one or two pieces. Then, I noticed something different. Some were well done and others were rare, possibly with every state of cooking in-between. The mashed potatoes were crusty and the texas toast on the bottom was okay. Still, it felt like they had taken my meal from several plates and pieced it together, as though several people didn't finish their steak and they cut off the remains. Once again, the service was good but the food was not. The store had typical convenience store items, plus a number of electrical devices for use while traveling, and a number of audio books and DVDs. The prices were a bit high, considering that Walmart, CVS, etc. were close. $11.43 for the meal with drink seemed expensive also, especially given the food. MCL didn't seem a bad option afterwards. I tipped, mainly because I doubt they could be making any money with the ridiculous wait staff minimum wage. read more

Always have stopped at this Iron Skillet for breakfast, and enjoyed the food. Not knowing they changed their menu beginning 2024 I went in for my usual omelette, hash brown, toast, and juice that normally ran $20 + tip which was reasonable. No longer can you order their signature omelets its build your own or a veggie. Ordered veggie, hash brown, toast, and juice total $26.34+ tip. Buyer Beware menu has changed and prices are outrageous! They just lost another customer, nice job corporate! read more

Before shutdown(pandemic) this was one of our favorite places to eat. We had a couple of not so good experiences there in the last few months but decided to give it another shot. BIG MISTAKE I ordered Biscuits and gravy, sausage patty, hash browns...my husband tried to order a fish dinner platter, to which he was told they do not have cocktail sauce or coleslaw any more, so he went with what I ordered. It took almost 30 minutes to get our food, and when it arrived, was ICE COLD. Never saw the server again until time to pay our bill, which was almost $40.00. Will NEVER eat here again!! read more

As a driver for JB Hunt, I found the turn around space for my 18 wheeler more than adequate. Food at the restaurant was just okay, but I must note that the Onion Wings with honey maple ranch dipping sauce made for a unique highway fine dining experience. The vending machine in the men's restroom is fully stocked with herbal male enhancement products, as well as other items. "Nikki" who was working the back parking lot, provided excellent service, at a reasonable price. read more

This place always has truck parking available. We have always been able to find a spot up close as well. The store has everything a trucker could need like GPS, discount movies, audiobooks, CDs, medicine, bath products, and even had Valentine's Day items available like chocolate, teddy bears an gigantic cards. Lots of souvenirs for Ohio and Indiana. Bobbi and Kaitlyn were fantastic in assisting me with my Valentine's Day needs and I was very surprised at the level of help and service they provided. Thanks ladies! ;) The Iron Skillet was pretty typical. This is not five star food, y'all. This is biscuit and gravy, fried chicken, chicken fried steak and hamburger kinda food. It will be greasy, but it's cheap and will do the job. The waitresses were friendly and always kept our drinks refilled. What more could you ask for in a truck stop restaurant? The restaurant also makes their own homemade fudge and the store had a nice clearance section full of 3$ headphones and electronic extras. This particular Petro also had a Verizon Wireless stand, a game room, CB shop, laundry and a small movie room with plenty of seating. Don't miss the massaging chair! 5$ for 15 minutes. You'll barely be able to walk afterwards but what can ya do? Overall, pretty stellar truck stop even if you have to go through two states to get into it. read more

Fast pumps, an easy on/off from I-70 and reasonable gas prices. The exit is technically in Indiana, but it's Ohio after about 10 seconds. This trip, Ohio gas prices were about 10 cents less a gallon, so we were holding out for the state line. Also, the upgrade to premium gas was about 25 cents/gallon, much better than the 30-35 we saw at many stations along the highway. read more

This is the worst I have ever been treated by not just the waiter but the manager on duty. I ordered the goulash dinner that comes with mozzarella cheese I ask to hold the cheese and I wanted a fruit bowl. My husband ordered the beef and noodles. When food was brought there was cheese on my goulash and he remembered after he gave food that I ordered with no cheese he grabbed my plate to take it back my husband asked for salt and pepper the waiter said I'll bring it right to you along with her fruit. We waited over ten minutes my food was sitting under the heat lamp while said waiter was helping everybody else and ignoring my food sitting. Hubby had finished his food ( which was also cold) by the time mine finally came now minus the garlic bread no fruit no salt and pepper. When husband started to complain waiter jumped on n and said you got a complaint I get manager. The manager comes over we tell her our complaint she immediately says oh he's new. Like that solves all our problems, she than says so I guess you want this all to go. We said yeah, plus my fruit, garlic bread, fruit and banana pudding please. She starts to walk off and says week if the garlic bread is ready. We had to do take out because of the fact their dining room is closed because of Covid 19 ; however, we didn't mind! We ordered oatmeal and toast! The manager did it all and had a lovely conversation with us! He was working as the cook, manager and wait staff because as they were open they were only allowed a manager and a wait staff and his wait staff was sick and he was waiting on the replacement to come in! Nice nice man!! They're opened from 8 am to 9 pm with a limited menu but if they can do it they will? We got our oatmeal and toast and it was really good! Usually we have to add a lot of milk but not this time! It was just to add the butter and brown sugar! Remember these restaurants who normally have buffers and rely on dining customers are now relying on take out customers! That also means they have to buy more take out containers that they didn't have to purchase before! Also be respectful! Talk to them! They like adult conversations too! Buffet is always fair, could be more fresh during slow times of the day , waitstaff is friendly and prices are fair . I recommend ordering off the menu . Food is 3 1/2 stars for truck stop food and better than most truck stop chains . read more

Holy hell. I've ate at some dumps, but this place... The cook took an hour to get out our one neighboring tables food, then proceeded to tell us about the "chicken fired chicken"... I couldn't get an answer on how that was accomplished. Then we have the "whitefish" in the menu and could not figure out between 5 haggard waitresses what the hell the fish actually was. I've had better experiences in other Petros. I am surprised that this place is operating. I came to this place in November. I went into the restaurant and ordered some food along with some water without ice. Ten minutes later the waitress comes back and asks if I wanted a coffee. I restated that I wanted a glass of water with no ice. Later she brings me a glass water with ice. After my meal I went to the store to buy a coffee and some cough drops. The cashier was following me around, as if expecting something to happen. I go up to the counter to pay, and the lady is off somewhere pretending to be busy. I wave at her and she returns to the front. She checks the prices on my cough drops and suggests that there are better ones in the back, long and behold all the cough drops are the same price. We walk back to the cash register, and she keeps talking about how the cough drops were so cheap. Then as I am about to pay she asks to see my ID. All that trouble just for coffee and cough drops? Don't eat here! Worst meal ever! Was there at 5 pm for the dinner Buffett. All the food was old, I couldn't get over how stale the cake was, the chicken was old and all that was in the tray was what must have been the remains of some old anorexic bird, the cornbread was undercooked, salad was but a few leaves left, and the casserole, what ever it was, was nasty and watery.
