Hubby & I stopped by here on a Saturday morning around 11 AM. There was a line at the door but it moved quickly & we were seated within 5-6 minutes. The ambiance reminded me of a cozy cabin. Our friendly & knowledgeable server gave us several suggestions on the menu. I ordered breakfast while hubby got lunch. I got the Sunrise Special & requested cheddar cheese for the omelette. Hubby ordered the Roasted Garlic & Herb Tilapia dinner with mashed potatoes & green beans as his sides. Our food came out in about 15 minutes. Hubby loved his food & ate every bite. I liked my breakfast & ended up taking some home since the portion was a decent size. I ordered a slice of rhubarb pie & sugar cream pie to go. The sugar cream was delicious but I didn't care for the rhubarb. We would definitely eat here again. read more

"Stopped for lunch at Eaton Place restaurant while I was in Eaton, and wow--what a nostalgic experience! Walking in felt like stepping back in time, with warm, wood-paneled walls, a counter bar, and the friendliest waitstaff who have clearly been there for years. I had the Philly cheesesteak with sea salt fries--absolutely amazing! While sitting at the counter, I chatted with a lady who comes here weekly for the Sunrise Special. It looked incredible: a big breakfast casserole topped with a cheese omelet, crispy hashbrowns, homemade sausage gravy, cheddar cheese, and served with toast. She got a half-order, and it was still huge--enough to take some home! Pro tip: she says to get the hashbrowns extra toasty. If you're ever in the area, Eaton Place is a must-visit. read more

The name of this small town diner is "The Eaton Place" (get it?) and I'm definitely a fan. It's bright, bustling and loud and the food is comfy and delicious. Breakfast all day, plus steaks, fish, burgers and daily specials that usually jnclude things like meatloaf, porkchops, turkey. Two soups of the day plus a couple menu standards. The soups are usually a very good choice. And oh those pancakes. At least a half dozen fresh baked pie options every day too. The staff work like crazy, no one is idle at any time, and they are somehow all cheerful and smiling. Early risers will be in heaven since they open at 6 AM. The earliest I've ever been was 7:45 and by the time I finished eating I could see the crowd starting to build. It is always packed and super busy, and unless you want the counter be prepared to wait rather uncomfortably for a table. Personally I like the counter. The restaurant holds a lot of customers, so you should also be prepared for a possible extensive wait for your food. I've glimpsed the kitchen and they are also working at breakneck pace in there. It's just there are so many mouths to feed, and there's no similar non-chain "eating place" for 20 miles around. If you show up after noon, keeping in mind they close at 2 PM, they may have run out of any given pie, soup, or special. That's the tradeoff when everything is fresh made in the morning. I stopped in here with my BFF on the way to Indy. We both got the sunrise special and I was super yummy. The coffee was drinkable, not bad, not amazing but good. The service was spot an and very helpful. The bathroom was clean. I also got a slice of rhubarb pie to go. Best rhubarb I have had in years. I would come back here just for the pie alone. First visit to this very solid diner. We had a short wait that served as evidence that this was a good choice. We both enjoyed selections from the breakfast menu that were delivered hot and well prepared. Ohmygosh what a rare gem of a restaurant!! A perfect mom and pop diner that offers pie fresh baked every morning! My BFF and I stopped in for breakfast. Came here today for the second time and I got served cold biscuit and gravy, it wasn't even warm, it felt warm to the touch but the meat inside it was freezing cold. I didn't know if our plates sat a while or what. But this experience was not worth it this time. Hopefully next time we get hot food. I don't come out but maybe once, twice a week. I would say this restaurant isn't a very LGBTQ+ friendly space. I'm a trans woman and the server barely acknowledged me, didn't try to make a bit of small talk like I see them doing with other customers, and even misgendered me to other staff. The Eaton Place Restaurant is the locals hideout in Eaton, OH and for good reason. Good food, outstanding service, and reasonable prices are what make a trip to Eaton Place Restaurant worth the drive. As usual, I am on the road for work. You can only eat breakfast at the hotel so many times before a change of scenery is necessary. This is my 6 week in a row at the hotel so a change of scenery is absolutely necessary! I picked Eaton Place Restaurant to have my morning breakfast at this morning. The restaurant is just north of downtown right off of U.S. 127. The building is unassuming with plenty of parking. I walked in and was greeted by the friendliest staff around! I plopped myself down at a booth, grabbed a menu, and looked it over. My server came by with silverware and a glass of water. I asked her what she thought of the Sunrise Special and she immediately said that was a customer favorite and probably the most popular dish they served. With that kind glowing recommendation, I just had to order it plus a nice, hot cup of coffee. The Sunrise Speical for the uninitiated is a cheese omelette covered with hash browns, sausage gravy, and topped with cheddar cheese. It also comes with toast of your choice. I chose sourdough. My breakfast was brought out quickly and was hot! It isn't often I have to blow on my food to cool it down before I take a bite! The Sunrise Special is a nice twist between an omelette and a breakfast bowl. The omelette was cooked very well. The hash browns were crispy. The gravy was good if a bit on the bland side. The addition of Frank's Red Hot sauce was a nice addition and livened things up a bit! The staff at Eaton Place Restaurant are exceptional! They are nice, friendly, and happy you are there. They made my day! Eaton Place Restaurant is a local hangout and this morning was no different. Decided to stop at a local winery during a #roadtrip, asked for a good local place to eat, and this was the recommendation for good diner fare. Definitely an old school diner setting, some bar stools at a counter and booths, then another addition with more seating. I think the menu said they've been there for 45 yrs. Of course I had to try their #reuben! Using my gold standard of the king of all reubens (Big Dave's Deli in Zionsville, Ind), this one did not disappoint! Had the onion rings (nice, big) and cole slaw as a side. Plus a diet coke, everything came to only $10.01 after tax. Just OK. Hard workers, decent food, maximized seating in the restaurant. Definitely a "ma and pop" diner where regulars know everyone. Great prices! Our table ordered a total of: 4 pancakes, coffee, soda, large OJ, 2 English muffins, bacon, and 4 eggs. Our total was $27. They messed up the pancakes (not sure how) and we were given the rest of our food and told the pancakes would be out soon. We finished everything before they were brought. Coffee and drink refills were a bit lagging and we had to ask others for refills because our server hadn't come by except to deliver food. Ok experience, nothing amazing. read more

This is a good place to go for breakfast, from anywhere in Preble County or further. They also have lunch but they close at 2:30 in the afternoon. I lived in sight of this restaurant for 2 years when I was at Northedge Apartments. I never tried the place because I figured it was for old people and had the kind of food I didn't really care to eat, and that my schedule was 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. 4 days a week. Now that I'm old and don't work at the same place, it should be okay, right? After all this time, I ventured into the place, not knowing what to expect other than good food. I think it must have been expanded, as there is seating to the right as well as to the left, but the counter is to the left. Rather than take up a booth or table, I usually sit at a counter. Be courteous, right? I sat almost in front of the pass-thru to the kitchen. There was a dry erase board up and to the left giving the lunch menu. Everything was quite neatly in place with those old amber and red plastic tumblers, coffee mugs, and flatware behind the counter. On the counter was a small group of jellies, salt and pepper, napkin holder, and a menu. The counter itself was a yellow formica, which was never really stylish but it fit the home town feel. A woman asked me what I wanted to drink fairly soon after I sat, and she had my Apple juice and a water in amber tumblers quite quickly. She also brought utensils and a napkin. I set the fork aside as it seemed to have food on it. Cheese and eggs can be sticky, but please, inspect the flatware. It wasn't a huge deal, as there was another to the left of me. They had a number of egg and bacon dishes on the menu, some omelets, biscuits and sausage gravy, and something called Sunrise Special. I didn't see any scrambled eggs, so I was about to order an omelet, and then, I looked further to the Sunrise Special, which included a cheese omelet, hash browns, sausage gravy, and cheddar cheese on top with toast on the side. They called it a casserole and you know that the midwest is big on casseroles, so I thought it must be good. At $5.89, I thought that it must be a lot, considering my recently experience at McDonald's, getting a burrito for just $1.00 cheaper. KFC tried something similar but it looked nasty, so I had better hopes and put on a tolerant attitude, just in case. The place was busy so it took a while and I tried to occupy myself while plate after plate came from the kitchen, trying not to look desperate. When it arrived, it came in a small, oblong baking dish that I would normally use for baking ziti. There were two pieces of Rye (Rye bread! they also had white and wheat) toast, cut into halves, already buttered. I believe scrumptious is the word most people would use to describe it. The combination was unusual and it tasted so good. Of course, had I ordered them separately, they'd all end up mixed in my stomach anyway. It was the kind of food that was a little bit heavy but not by much, and it was made with care. The omelet was light and fluffy with cheese inside, and the hash browns were brown, and the sausage gravy actually had sausage. It was worth the wait! I certainly can't complain about the parking lot at 6:40 a.m. It wasn't full. The only thing that wasn't right was the fork with food on it. read more

This place is like going back in time or being on a movie set. You walk in and it is do welcoming and the staff is very friendly. I was tempted to get a tuna melt but my server suggested a chicken salad melt. I have been trying to watch my portion sizes and trust me, they give you hungry size portions. The sandwich came out and was on perfectly grilled rye bread and was huge. I decided I would eat half of it and take the other half home. When I was done with the first half, I argued with myself and came to a conclusion that it was so good so I ate the second half.
