If you want great food and great service and genuine people come to iron skillet restaurant!
Leo X.

We stopped by for breakfast on way to the cemetery. My buddy was visiting his daughters grave for the first time in over 20 years ! Across the way is iron skillet restaurant. Why not eat first and slowly adjust to the visit. Patrick the senior head cook has been serving amazing "gravy" since the first brick was laid ... that means so be the restaurant opened ! Find out for yourself why? Great service. Genuine hospitality! Especially from our server, she's the best !! Dennis was so happy with our experience at iron skillet restaurant that we took pictures of all of them ... thank you all!!

Their portions look reasonably sized, but then you start eating at it becomes really hard to finish your plate. Cordon Bleu or chicken fried steak are both winners. They have a Sierra Mist with lemon on their menu which is surprisingly spot on.

I know it's an awful shot. It's 3am and we needed a bathroom.

This review is only for the bathroom on this day that I stopped by on a road trip to Texas. Their bathrooms were clean, well supplied with toilet tissue, has awesome warm air hand dryers, probably about 4 stalls in the ladies room, and it smelled nice. Did not make any purchase at this place. They do have a little grocery store too. And it looks like it's open 24/7!

If I was a trucker, I wouldn't discourage the fact that they took 35 minutes to take my order.

The food -- we loved every single thing we tried. Boudin balls, greens, shrimp and grits, catfish campti. Come hungry! Portions are big and for a fair price We got lucky and didn't wait too long but I've heard there can easy be an hour wait. You can sit in the bar area or enjoy the water view. So good I might be back tonight!

As the oldest continuously operating Black owned restaurant in the United States, the café has been serving incredible Creole cuisine and preserving an important piece of American culinary history since 1921. The rich history alone is worth the visit, but the outstanding food will have you coming back again and again. The legendary stuffed shrimp absolutely lives up to its reputation. Each bite is packed with flavorful Creole stuffing, perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and incredibly satisfying. It's easy to understand why this dish has become one of Shreveport's signature foods. The red beans and rice with smoked sausage is another must-order, delivering rich, smoky flavors and comforting homemade goodness. Their gumbo is equally impressive--deep, hearty, and filled with authentic Louisiana flavor that tastes like it has been simmering for hours. And if you're craving a sandwich, the po'boy selections are loaded with delicious fillings and served on fresh bread that makes every bite memorable. The restaurant's location along Cross Lake creates a beautiful waterside atmosphere that makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, lunch or dinner, the scenic views provide the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal. The portions are generous, making the prices more than fair for the amount of food you receive. You definitely leave feeling like you got excellent value for your money. Even better, the staff is welcoming, attentive, and genuinely helpful, making guests feel right at home from the moment they walk through the door. If you're visiting Shreveport and want authentic Creole cuisine with incredible history, outstanding service, generous portions, and unforgettable flavors, Orlandeaux's Café is an absolute must-visit. It's not just a meal--it's a taste of Louisiana tradition that has been passed down through generations.

Let me say you better come with your appetite. Or you're going home with leftovers. I wanted a po-boy, shrimp n crawfish. It wasn't in the menu but waitress made it happen. That's a good waitress. When the platter showed up, it had a po-boy loaded, LOADED, with shrimp and tails. So many that they fell on ver into the FFs. Everything was excellent. Big shrimp. Lots of tails. An excellent tartar sauce. The FFs were some of the best I've ever had. I asked for crispy - they were perfect. I had so much left over the wife and I had it for dinner. When I got home, I told my daughter in law, who's from Shreveport, and she said Sam's is the best. She's right. Can't wait to try other offerings.

Service & food quality has been excellent on 2 visits within the past 2 months. Ambiance is warm,…read morewelcoming and pleasantly peaceful. My current favorite is the Ahi Tower and TNT. The pyramid is also a nice experience if you're seeking some crunch with your bite. I can taste the love for their craft in the food, which is why I will continue to patron this fine establishment. Doomo Arigato Gozaimashita for this positive experience. 10/10 overall.

Notes: 1) been here once…read more2) private parking lot Pros: 1) food tastes pretty fresh and there's different options that go beyond sushi 2) service was quick and great (even if they are short-staffed 3) ambiance is good Cons: 1) they have a particular style and you'll see it in the options (particularly the sushi ingredients) Rating: 4.5/5 For being in Shreveport, it's actually pretty decent sushi. I think every roll is fresh and it was worth the drive over. I would say that most sushi had very similar ingredients: something fried, a fresh fish, and then whatever makes it special which makes the taste similar at times. Another way to say this is that the fish is not the star of the show, the other ingredients and sauces are. The salad sampler was actually a great deal. Lots of fresh ingredients in there. The salad was great with the ginger dressing and the miso soup was good. The service was great. Very attentive and very friendly. They were looking for more servers so they may be short staffed at times but i think it's worth the wait. The ambiance is good too. Makes you feel like you're in some place authentic. And it's locally owned. I'd say it's worth the try. You get pretty decent sushi and good options for all kinds of dishes. Salad sampler: 5/5 good deal and fresh and good Miso soup: 5/5 classic Salad with ginger dressing: 5/5 (I love ginger dressing so I may be biased) Rolls: 5/5 individually but once again they can start to taste similar at times (which makes it a 4/5 overall for all 4 rolls) I did not try the fried rolls or the other types of rolls but I have heard the sushi burrito roll was good. Ahí tuna also looked good as well
