Recently went for lunch which is an outstanding deal. Soup or salad, sandwich and a glass of wine or beer for $10. My husband and I both had the falafel, he had it with soup, white bean and fennel and I had salad. One of the best falafels we've ever had. Soup was also excellent. My sister and her husband both had the Not just a BLT on rye. They both loved it...bacon was cooked to crispy perfection. The fried egg was also perfectly cooked...soft in the center but not runny. Their food menu includes a fantastic variety of Spanish/Latino tapas, their cocktail choices are plenty and the wait staff are all full of personality (our favorite is Megan). We've also enjoyed their weekend brunch, with bottomless mimosas, their tres-leches cake is sinfully delicious, their food specials are always tasty and the sangria is addictive. The rustic decor is marvelous and the seating is cozy and comfortable, despite that it's a small establishment. Reservations are always recommended, as they are busy and fill up quickly. My wife and I just had our first meal at Iron Vine and everything was excellent. All four tapas plates we ordered tasted great and the $9 dessert sampler was fantastic, with the highlight being the pastel de guava. On top of all that, we really liked the ambiance. They've done a nice job decorating the small space. And the sliding glass&wrought iron entrance is cool as hell. No stars! Please don't waste your time. The dishes looked like something college students would make after a hard night of partying. They are out of control with their prices. I ordered some kind of steak,won't do that again. The waitress was good for one thing and that was to carry a dish. She knew nothing about the dishes. Some of the flavors didn't make any sense. Veggies should be bright and colorful, these were limp and discolored. While we were eating a cute little meat pie we had to laugh because they were 4 for $10 dollars. If you go to any local corner store they are 4 times the size and they are $ 1.00 The only thing I can say positive about it is that the crust was good. I know this because there was more crust than meat. I didn't want to add a star but it wouldn't let me post unless I did. No stars should be an option! read more

Bad food, even worse service. I ordered the mango habanero wings and the mixed fries. The wings seem like they came out of the freezer and the sauce, like it came out of a packet, rather than being fresh made. And even though they brought the orders out separately, the food was not fresh or hot. But what irritated me most was that our waiter had the nerve to rush us out. Even though there were several tables open next to us, and no one waiting - he came to our table and said he had other reservations coming in - so if we could please leave. I've been to fine dining establishments and whole-in-the-wall places that were standing room only, and I have never been asked to leave. I don't know if he was racist or just really bad at his job. But if his goal was to make sure we never come back or recommend this place to friends, then mission accomplished. read more

New place, should be pretty good after they iron out the details and go through the growing pains. There's a lot to like here, but as a whole the restaurant isn't quite where it should be. The weekend brunch is excellent, and can be recommended without qualifiers. I found the dinner service to be a bit rougher. The Columbian breakfast and blue crab benedict are excellent. The empanadas left a lot to be desired, basically because they were a bit too ambitious; there's something to be said about simple food, done well. We were in Westchester for Labor Day weekend and made a trip "up da riva" and went to Peekskill for brunch. It was excellent! We had the Picante Burrito, the Colombia Breakfast, and the El Jibarito... The EL Jibarito was a tender hangar steak between two tostones with avocado, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayo. The steak was remarkably tender and the tostones were nice a crispy. The Colombia Breakfast was essentially scrambled eggs on an arepa. Again yummy, but maybe the best thing was the Colombia chorizo. The patates were also very good. I would totally recommend this place. Don't let the state of Peekskill, which is sad, scare you. The Iron Vine is worth the trip... Oh yeah and I forgot to mention the amazing white sangria and fully flavorful Bloody Mary... read more

Wanting to love this beautiful new restaurant in downtown Peekskill. The restoration of the space is careful & gorgeous. The food is very good. We had vegetarian empanadas which were nicely spiced and not too doughy. My spouse had the vegetarian special which was an assemblage of fresh vegetables sautéed and over some excellent polenta. I ordered the chicken but the waitress put the order in wrong so I happily accepted the salmon with quinoa and a vegetable purée instead. Delicious. We ordered a bottle of Pinot noir and the waitress informed us that they didn't have that bottle but had a substitute which we gladly accepted. The wine was a disappointment, not bad, but no character to it. The wine was of the same quality that we drink in a local Italian joint with better glass wear. The bill was reasonable, although there were mistakes. We were charged for something we didn't order and the substituted wine was charged at $5.00 more than the bottle we originally ordered. The waitress made the adjustments once we. Explained that we should be charged the same price for a substituted bottle. The only other mention is that the seats are gorgeous but not terribly comfortable. Hoping that once iron vine finds it's legs it will be standout. read more

My husband and I went for dinner last night and were completely happy from start to finish! We are so glad we decided to go to Iron Vine! Our waitress, Ali, was fabulous. She answered every question and was on point every time. She recommended the El Cocodrillo, a house cocktail, made with in-house infused jalapeño tequila. Absolutely delicious! We had seafood empanadas and croquettas de chorizo for appetizers. Both were delicious! You can tell immediately that the empanadas are homemade and fresh. The seafood filling (crab & conch) inside was excellent. Both the crab and the conch were fresh and not imitation. The croquettas were amazing. Filled with chorizo, potatoes and manchego and deep fried with a mango chutney sauce. Perfect! The chutney was spicy but not over done and paired perfectly. I had the El Jibarito (skirt steak) sandwich for dinner and my husband the Cubano. I'm not a huge fan of of plantains and the El Jibarito is served on plantain tostadas so I asked if it was possible to get the sandwich on something else. Again, our waitress Ali, explained that the skirt steak is served whole so it's hard to put it on a roll. She said it could be done but assured me that the plantain tostadas were the perfect pairing for the sandwich, made fresh and cooked perfectly. She was 100% correct! I absolutely loved every bite. My steak was cooked to perfect rare from end to end and the meat was tender. Usually when you bite into a steak sandwich it's hard to get a bite but you wouldn't even know you were biting into a steak sandwich the meat was that tender. My husband loved every bite of his Cubano, hand made fries and homemade ketchup. The menu is small but that is the best part! Every dish is made fresh daily and all local. Absolutely delicious!!! I would rather have a restaurant that has "limited choices" so that the focus is on quality ingredients, cooking and taste rather than quantity. Pretty good lunch spot with good coffee (french press!) and good sweet potato fries. Good option in town.

I really want to like this place. The staff is friendly and the owner clearly takes an interest in his customers. The place is pleasant and inviting too. We found the Cuban sandwich to be a bit on the dry side and the fries somewhat undercooked. While the date ketchup is an interesting concept, it is far too sweet. The drink combinations are interesting too, but the huge spheres of ice substitute novelty for effectiveness. I'd lose the "cool" sphere. Finally, I do wish that waiters and waitresses would remember which customer ordered each entrée. When there is a party of two, it should not be all that difficult. That's what separates the good restaurants from the mediocre ones in my book. I think the country music has to go too, but suspect that the owner is into it. It just doesn't fit the theme of the restaurant. I hope to give Iron Vine one more try in a few weeks. read more

This was the first time for me visiting Peekskill. I had scoped out this little gem of restaurant ahead of time and it didn't disappoint. Loved the warm rustic decor, friendly staff and the delish food. Ordered the Tostones (the sauce did it, wow) and Scallops over quinoa with watercress and lobster sauce, very good. Also got a dessert that was way too big, but oh so tasty, lol. Some locally made salty caramel icecream with whipped cream and toasted popcorn (they were a bit too chewy though) and nuts. They had salsa music in the background, loved that. Not cheap, but not overly pricey either. Would definitely come back, if I'm up that way again. read more

Big time Brunch Guy right here and this place delivered on the food. Perfectly grilled skirt steak and eggs were fantastic. My lady had some sort of smoked salmon concoction that was also delicious - have to test the fundamentals at these places and Iron Vine delivered. I will tell you this is a better spot for eating Brunch than drinking Brunch. My lady and I as well as one of my buddies and his girlfriend all ordered the $25 bottomless mimosas which started out okay. They have a wide range of tasty juices you can mix the champagne with so you aren't relegated to the standard OJ combo. After about an hour to an hour and a half of steadily knocking them down we noticed the waitress taking longer and longer to fill our pitcher. Before long this turned into 100% juice pitchers arriving at our table. I know these places aren't trying to lose their shirt on the bottomless drinks and you also don't want patrons walking out hammered drunk at 1 in the afternoon. With this said, I do want to get what I pay for. I guess it will always be hard to satisfy the boozed up Irishman inside of me. Definitely a place I would return to; although next time I may dabble with the cocktail menu instead of relying on the all you can drink. read more

This place has a well deserved overall 4 star yelp rating, and I agree with it. This place is in what seems to be a relatively "run down" downtown Peekskill area but it is on the same block as another pretty well known gem in westchester. The space is very welcoming and the bar area is actually quite beautiful. The cocktails are good but far from proper cocktail lounge quality(maybe my NYC standards are too high?). The food here is absolutely amazing. The chimichuri wings were a great way to start. My wife had the chicken thighs which were boneless, grilled to perfection and simmered in a spicy/thick sauce. I went with the skirt steak sandwich which is served on a plantain bun. Yes, they literally take plantains, fry and mash them up in to a flat almost tortilla like bun. FRIKKEN SWEET. The chipotle mayo, avocado and medium rare skirt steak all went together beautifully. I wish I was more hungry so I could continue on to dessert, but maybe next time? read more

Walking in, I was struck by the decor...lots of brick and wood. Our waitress/bartender/ hostess (she was the only one there for the first hour!) was very peppy and handled her multi-tasking very well. I had the seafood empanada, which was deliciouso, and the skirt steak, which was cooked perfectly at medium-rare and fantastic. What I did not like was the side of potato- basically one potato sliced into four thick wedges and baked. Very bland and boring. The dessert was great also- dark chocolate creme catalina (Spanish version of creme brulee) with accents of orange and star anise which were beautiful in their subtety. Drinks from our waitress/bartender/ hostess were great as well. My wife's pork dish was overcooked- however, since I am reviewing MY food and experience- I give it a solid 4 stars. read more
