My test of a 'classic' Italian restaurant is their Carbonara. Their menu pompously says it's 'done the right way!' When asked they said it has cream. That is a 'no!' I tried it anyway. This restaurant is very nice. The atmosphere is low key, comfortable. The food was quite delicious, generous portions, and prices were reasonable. There were four of us at the table. The service was polite and attentive. My only criticism had to do with 2 things - 1. The clearing of the table before dessert. The bus girl grabbed the silverware in one hand and piled up the used dishes right in front of my son, some with puddles of sauce. He said he felt in danger of getting splashed. This method was obviously convenient for the bus girl, but was unpleasant for us diners. 2. A small thing, but when the coffee was served the young server reached in front of me to place it in front of my daughter; I felt I had to sit back to accommodate him. He should have brought it around and served it from beside her. In such a fine dining establishment these small lapses are noticeable and easily corrected. read more

A very calm, refined (quiet, dark, blazingly white linens), yet laid-back atmosphere with impeccable service and very good Italian food. The restaurant is readily accessible by car off a main street with lots of private parking in a pleasant courtyard setting. We enjoyed our orders of crab cakes and lobster ravioli, with wine and beer, and pistachio gelato and decaf espresso for dessert. We came early on a Sunday evening, winter solstice, and it seemed that many locals were patronizing this establishment, including couples and groups of families/friends. My wife's ravioli was not hot (only in places). My Carbonara was nothing like any Carbonara I've ever tasted. Instead of the egg/cheese/bacon one would expect, it was cooked in something akin to Cream of Mushroom soup. My wife's salad was excellent. The food is okay. I had dinner there recently and we were seated at our table and ordered a drink. Before the drinks came the waiter was on top of us asking to take our order. We said we weren't ready to order. He stood about 5 feet away and kept coming back every 2 minutes asking us if we were ready to order. It was very annoying, uncomfortable, and rushed. I came here for my bday for dinner. We were in the mood for Italian and since I don't live in the area we just Google nearby places. The restaurant is sorta hidden. When we arrive to the lot, I didn't expect for it to be the place but it was. Inside is nice. The guys there were very attentive. Fino is hands down our favorite Italian restaurant in northern Westchester. The food is excellent and the service is world class. We always feel welcome and well treated when we dine in. When we order via takeout the service is quick and the food transports well. The options tend to be traditional southern Italian which is generally what we like (e.g. Chicken/Veal Parm, Red sauce dishes,) but they often have a Chicken Sorrentino special which I highly recommend. They always have a number of specials to supplement an already solid menu. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the dining experience. read more

Consistently good food and good service and one of the few restaurants which is open on Monday evenings. We enjoyed an appetizer of fried zucchini which was so delicate and delectable and not what we had expected. For entrees I ordered the Spaghetti Puttanesca which was excellent and my husband ordered the Cowboy Prime Rib special which was perfection personified! (A very large cut served in slices with tiny potatoes.) For desert I had an excellent Creme Brûlée and he had a Napoleon that was homemade and almost too pretty to eat. We were celebrating a birthday and it was the perfect choice of restaurant. We were the only diners as it was a Monday night after a snow storm! Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I've been to Fino multiple times, and have never been disappointed - it's my favorite local restaurant when I visit home! The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, sometimes busy but never crowded. The bar can be active at times with friends catching up. The service is what makes Fino stand out. We've had Valentino as our server several times, he remembers us and always extends a warm welcome. He is knowledgeable about the extensive menu and specials, delights in suggesting wine parings and advising about preparation, the Italian regions from which the wine or dish hails, and about how the ingredients are sourced. All this along with genial conversation and attention (but never intrusive). I can't speak to the seafood dishes; my pollo and pasta dishes are always fresh, delicious and makes me crave more. One of my favorite dishes is the Ravioli Ortolana, which I had yesterday; really large portions (I had to take half to go), fresh and very tasty. I suspect one could also order off menu and they'd be happy to accommodate as they're eager to please (though I don't encourage this as the menu options offer something for all). There are even gluten-free pastas, though these, unlike the others, aren't homemade in-house. Desserts are really amazing - tiramisu of course is good, though I prefer their carrot cake or chocolate. The wine list is extensive featuring options splendid Italian vintages, though there are also options from the U.S., Austria, New Zealand/Australia, and Argentina. If I had to make any suggestions, they would be option of olive oil and more varied selection of bread. I would also encourage Fino to use paper containers for guests needing food to take away, rather than styrofoam which is terrible for environment. I highly recommend Fino, and try to have Valentino as your server. read more

Haven't been to Fino in many years. I'll start by saying the food was very good. The service/our server left a lot to be desired. The response to asking for a wine list was, "well, it depends on what wine you're ordering". So we asked again for wine list and was told they didn't have one. Someone else in our party asked again and was finally given one despite the displeasure of our waiter having to go get it. Very strange. Why lie about it? Next up, I respect a servers attempt to take orders without writing them down, but I suggest not doing so if you get the order wrong. He Brought out two of the same entree, one of which was the wrong one. My guest was nice enough to just take it and waiter comped us a cup of coffee (you would think the wrong entree would be comped). Lastly, as we were eating our dinner, I overheard another waiter listing off all the specials of the evening. First we heard of it. I think our waiter maybe said 10 words to us, which did not include any specials. As I said, food was overall great, so maybe it was a just an off night but definitely took away from the dinner. read more

I went to Fino's Easter Sunday with my family. Our waiter, Jason, was fantastic. He was thorough with the wine list and gave us wonderful suggestions. We had ordered fried zucchini, fried calamari, and baked clams. The zucchini and calamari were very salty; good, but too salty. I had the veal parmigiana. It was DELICIOUS! I don't understand the good reviews for this restaurant. First, there is a musty odor when you first walk in. Second, the paper menus are stained and dirty. The upholstery on the chairs is stained and dirty. The decorative wine bottles are covered with dust. The drapes have been hanging there for years - I imagine not clean. I ordered the veal chop Valdestano. The steamed broccoli was brown in spots. A steak knife would have been helpful, but never offered by the inattentive server. I ordered the ricotta cheesecake for dessert. It was not ricotta cheesecake, but New York style cheesecake-nothing special. Will not return while this restaurant is under this ownership. read more

I originally found this restaurant from the Chophouse Grille's website and had bookmarked it earlier in the week because it is a new restaurant in town. I tried making last minute reservations on Valentine's Day at a number of different places and everywhere was booked so I figured I'd try here just for the heck of it. I called around 5:15 and got reservations for 6:30. We were happy! Once we arrived we were seated within 5 minutes. I noticed while standing there that the restaurant was packed, the bar area was pretty full and a band was just setting up to play romantic music - a good sign of a new restaurant! We were seated in the back corner which was perfect for us because we needed a high chair for my daughter who sat on the end of the table. I'm not sure how many high chairs this restaurant owns but the one we got was broken and didn't have the strap in the middle of her legs to keep her from slipping. I asked the waitress for another one but she said the 'other one' was occupied. Luckily my hubby is like MacGyver and was able to jerry rig the seat. Because it was Valentine's Day they were using a special menu - for $37.50 you got an Appetizer, Entrée, Dessert/Coffee plus the ladies got a red rose and candies - that was a bonus for me! :) I ordered the Eggplant Rollatine and Stuffed Pork Chop. Hubby ordered the Cold Anti Pasta and Ravioli's. Not sure exactly why but just after he finished his Anti Pasta he started not feeling so well - I had a little taste of some things off his platter but not the meat - not sure if that's what did him in. My Eggplant Rollatine was delicious though and we both enjoyed our entrees too. For dessert they served everyone the same thing - I'm going to call it a heart shaped eclaircronut. It had the appearance of an éclair, texture of a cronute with cream in the middle like a donut. I was a bit confused by what we were eating but it was yummy. Also, we didn't order anything for our daughter because we had her eat off of our plates. We figured she wouldn't be getting a dessert but the waitress brought out an extra one for her so we had 3 in total. That was really nice. When the waitress brought the check to us she brought over 2 flowers and 2 boxes of candy (one for me and one fore my daughter) - SO NICE! I read the reviews and decided to try it, 4 stars is supposed to be good. We came here for dinner on our way back from King's Storm. I was kind of disappointed when entering, the decoration is outdated and bland, even gloomy. Sevice medium, we were waiting for 20 minutes to place our order, very slow sevice. Food was OK, nothing to boast about, just eatable, I had a New York Strip Pittsburgh style, it was well cooked but a bit too fatty for my taste, spaghetti carbonara OK, and had fried zukinni. The wine I ordered was a bit stale so I told them and were kind enough to replace for a new serving of wine. All in all I think no more than 3 stars for this Italian/ American restaurant. read more

It was fine. No big issue with the freshness or quality of food. Our waiter was very personable, but staff was definitely overwhelmed. Didn't have the best service, food didn't come out in a timely manner for what it was. My biggest issue with this place was that nothing was seasoned. The arancini has no flavor even though you could see the filling. The veal Milanese was mostly breadcrumb with no seasoning other than salt and a mountain of parsley. None of the food was offensive, it was fine, but definitely not worth the price tag to be as bland as it was. read more
