We showed up with a table of 7 (with a reservation), and they took good care of us. They did not seem very busy, but probably because it was the day after Christmas. We had a whole team of friendly servers attending our needs. I couldn't decide between the Polish specialties, so I got the Big Polish Platter, which gave me kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, and pierogis. I absolutely love it here. The outside is really sweet and welcoming and inside is just as cute. It feels like a hometown bar with a gigantic food menu. I went for fall comfort food and got the Beef Goulash with a potato pancake. I didn't want something huge, so they were able to do a half portion for me and it came with a salad. The beef in that goulash (basically stew) was so incredibly tender and had tons of flavor! It was fabulous. And, everyone working there was kind and helpful; even the regulars at the bar playing Quick Draw were fun to chat with. Very deceptive place. Looks beautiful and you'd expect authentic Polish food, considering their menu. Which is not that hard, especially when you have a Polish themed restaurant. However, if you want the Northwoods Inn menu... save yourself the money and time and just go to the local grocery store and head to the freezer section. Because it's all frozen crap. You can taste the freezer burn on all the fried food. Or microwaved. 2 mega-oily, freezer burned, tiny mashed potato pancakes, with no potato flavor are $8. Bacon wrapped, potato pirogies were - AGAIN - freezer burned, tasted mass manufactured, no seasoning, no flavor yet were soaked in grease and so disappointing. We ordered several items and nothing was worth it. Wasted ambience, wasted menu, wasted opportunity to provide the public authentic Polish food. I'm truly sick of restaurants providing sub-par food to their customers because they can get away with it. Too many places locally take advantage of decent, hard working Putnam County residents. Why pay for 4 and 5 star meals but get 1 star quality? read more

Usually excellent but not this past Saturday November 11, 2023. Food was excellent as always but the bartender was a blond ditz. Took almost an hour to get food, we finally got a placemat and napkins but no silverware. She was so busy BSing with people at corner of the bar ignored everyone else, between playing on her phone, talking and making herself coctails she forgot about all the other customers. We never had bad service but she was the worst! The owner may be desperate for help but no one should be that desperate...If this had been first time we went, it would be a 1 star review!!! She took about 15 minutes to get a couple their first drinks even though place was empty since she was busy talking, making her espresso martini and sipping it and playing with her phone..Terrible service and will never go back on a Saturday which she told us she works.... read more

I didn't know I liked Polish food so much! All of the food was delicious. The most perfect portions! We stopped by during the week- we also had a restaurant.com certificate- we still found the meal was very affordable- although we only were drinking water. There was one other couple in the dining room with us when we got there, more people came- but we had a lot of space to ourselves. Always wanted to go to this place I really like it they have a nice outside and very big and nice inside. The food was phenomenal I enjoyed it immensely unfortunately the service needs to be tweaked waitress spends much standing around in the kitchen waiting for the food and she should be keeping her eyes on the customers And then today I need the check in the kitchen when in a while. I have been to this place before Covid-19 and it was always great. I decided to make a reservation for Valentine's Day. I liked that the tables were apart and the staff were practicing social distancing. The service was really bad. It took forever for our drinks, we ordered dinner, nobody said anything about soup or salad. We each got one roll. We're waiting for our meal and suddenly the waitress runs up and finally says we get soup and salad. Looks like the salad has shrunk as well. It took like 20 minutes for each item. We finally got the food, the ribeye was good. My husband ordered the flat iron steak and it was so tough he stopped eating it. Definitely disappointed and won't be going back anytime soon. read more

So excited to find another restaurant which serves Polish food! Mostly the basics - pierogis, bigos, kielbasa as well as Zywiec and Tyskie beers. We came pretty late at night and the place was empty other than a group of Czech girls. Apparently they have happy hour every night from 8-10 with 2-for-1 drinks! Unfortunately, the draught Zywiec tasted a little flat to me... I'm hoping that was a one-time incidence because I would love to come here more often. Its so rare to find restaurants in this area that goes beyond the traditional italian, irish and oriental but this was a winner. A good variety of menu items, particularly polish dishes. I've been here twice now and sat at the bar both times. Each time I had a different bartender and the service was terrible on both occassions. At least the first time the girl working made some minimal small talk, but it was obvious who her priority customers were and I was not one of them. Then tonight, I feel like I'm annoying/frustrating the bartender just by being here. It seems to be how she treats everyone. Very short, no small talk, practically rolls her eyes when she takes an order....not friendly. Also, the music they chose to play here is totally bizarre. Cussing and n-words one minute, and slow 60s jams the next...the food was pretty sub par. I got the salmon with double veggies. The food is NOT authentically Polish or homemade. I'm 100% Polish & I'm VERY disappointed. The food was overpriced, not good, served cold, and very slow service for an empty restaurant. The "homemade" pierogi dish is $15 for 9 tiny frozen factory made pierogi, they taste nothing like the real stuff and are NOT homemade!!! They actually tasted microwaved and were served cold. BIG rip off. The salad was wilted, brown iceberg lettuce. The osso bucca (golonka) dish was also cold & tasted old/reheated/microwaved. The service was SUPER slow; it took over an hour to get our dinner after we ordered. And it was all cold! Why did it take that long? The Żywiec beer on tap was also flat. I went with my family to the Northwood Inn today for lunch. I had been there once before about a year ago and the service was really awful, but we wanted to give it a second chance. Unfortunately, just like last time, it was so inexcusably slow WE WERE THE ONLY TABLE in the restaurant at 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon and our food took an hour after we ordered to start coming out (And 15 mintures after that for the last person's meal to come out). And we didn't even get our salads until 35 minutes after we ordered them, so the waitress isnt so great at her job either. It's a shame, because the food is decent and it's a nice looking room. But the slow service and slow kitchen are major issues- no wonder it was empty for brunch on a beautiful Sunday. Going to a restaurant shouldn't make you mad- its supposed to be enjoyable. I was very excited to eat here and was looking forward all week. Unfortunately The food was a major disappointment. Potato pancakes seemed to be from a store bought mix. Brown gravy was Jared. Goulash was tasteless, same with stuffed cabbage. The Pirogies were definitely home made as seen from their non uniform shapes (a good thing), but like most of everything else they were a tasteless disappointment. Kielbasa had nice garlicky taste but couldn't save the meal. The service was a little slow but the waitress was pleasant. I'm not writing this to punish or drive people away. Great local place in Carmel. Excellent pub food with a heavy Polish influence but plenty of good choices even if you choose not to przejdź polskiej. A great place to come when you actually want to be able to carry on a conversation with the person next to you. Not loud like so many of the other bars in town. I feel like this place attracts an older, more sophisticated crowd. Nothing too exciting in their domestic selection of beers, but they do have some nice imports, including some from their native Poland. Love the food here. They have an interesting take on Hungarian goulash, with bits of kielbasa mixed in with the beef and served over a potato pancake. It's delicious! I also highly recommend the Golabki (stuffed cabbage) and Polish Reuben. The Shepherd's Pie is also a winner. If I were going to criticize anything about their menu, it's that it is all over the place. Trying to be all things to all people, almost like a diner. We were disappointed with the service and our meals. We've been here before so hopefully this was an isolated occurrence. Our meals took a half hour to arrive. We had the burger and the Polish reuben. Neither takes long to cook or prepare. The burger was overcooked and the Polish reuben sandwich was open-faced, not stated as such on the menu or by the server. Not the fault of the staff, but the noise from the bar area was quite distracting in the dining room. One particular cackling hen made for a tough dinner, especially with slow service. The dining room was also too warm. The owner or manager needs to crank up the AC a bit. We weren't told of any specials and after we ordered, we saw the specials board being stood up by the entrance. Well as past reviews stated the service was slow. This sentenced stated true to form as the service remains slow ironically for a majority of our meal we were the only ones in the restaurant. Started the meal with a funky tasting cola deff not coke or Pepsi bread was warm and soft on outside however was cold and hard on the inside this was accompanied by ice cold bricks of butter which took us twenty to receive we then transitioned to the appetizer portion of the meal we had the cold platter which was not presented as advertised they were missing marinated veggies and there was maybe two of the smallest slices of kilbsea cut up in it also I'm pretty i could get those cold cuts in any local deli also presentation was lacking then the soup came my lady had the French onion and I had the chicken noodle both were bland but edible finally the main course came my lady had the Hungarian style beef Goulash and I had the hot platter both decent however nothing to write home about if the service was better and the food of a slightly better quality maybe we would return however as of now we look for polish fare elsewhere read more

This place is so charming with the fireplace in the middle of the restaurant side. We came in winter so the outside wasn't available. I appreciated that the food wasn't rushed out, tasted great and tasted fresh and not packaged. The wait staff didn't hover us which is a nice change of pace on most places. We were here Saturday night. It was a long ride from nj but my bf wanted polish food , for a change. The directions from Waze were easy enough and the place is really cute. We were seated at a really nice table in the corner. Every thing is perfectly socially distanced. Our server was very sweet and super nice. The chicken soup came with the meal. It was definitely home made, and delicious I got stuffed cabbage. Absolutely delicious, in home made tomato sauce. There were two really large stuffed cabbages. A generous portion of mashed potatoes and fresh mixed vegetables. The rolls were super hot. For dessert we got cheesecake and carrot cake. Both delicious. Not too sweet , either. The presentation was really pretty , with real whipped cream stars and powdered sugar. Coffee was hot and good. I would definitely recommend this place. No complaints whatsoever.
