I stopped in to get my fluids checked and to get an oil change just to clear my mind for an upcoming road trip and what I was met with was the warmest group of guys imaginable. The oil change I received was on par with my expectations, but the service kinda blew me away. I found myself in a deep conversation about life with the assistant Wood (owner and also veteranhad in the shop that day and since it was hot Wood offered me a bottle of water. When I asked him later how much he declined to make money because he said it was too hot outside for me not to drink it..... wait what? My husband, at the time, had a 2008 Hyabusa Motorcycle, which was more of a "race style" bike than my hubs was comfortable on... he didn't know exactly what he wanted but he knew he liked the BMW cycles, so he stopped in for a visit. They showed him the 2011 BMW 1200GS (pictured) and he fell in love. One major advantage to buying motorcycles used is that they often come with accessories that they didn't leave the factory with. In the case of this bike, it came equipped with expandable saddle boxes and a GPS unit mount. Unfortunately, the GPS was not included but they did have it available and in-stock, so we purchased it as a part of our financing package. We did go home and sleep on it, did some extra research on the bike and the value, then returned the following business day (in the hopes that it was still there) to say "yes!" to the... bike. The purchase was seamless from start to finish. Financing approval was simple via BMW Financial with a decent interest rate and no early pay-off penalties (we did recently pay it off early and they were true to their word)... we never had any issues with communication or payment processing. We overpaid by a little each month, which allowed us to skip a payment if needed because the additional payment counts toward future balances due. We also returned to Adventure BMW for service intervals and had an awesome experience. Their service department has reasonable pricing (for both parts and shop time) and did an awesome job of communicating with us while the motorcycle was in their care. Two and a half years later, still happy with our BMW 1200GS ... we have moved away and don't have access to an awesome shop and service place for BMW and we miss Adventure that much more! When we move back to Virginia, this will certainly be our dealer and shop of choice once more!! Thanks guys!

I recently purchased my first, new BMW motorcycle from Adventure BMW; a 2023 F850GSA. After…read moremultiple visits with the sales department to settle on the make/model, and a recent 600 mile service inspection, I'm writing this review. While I am content with the end result--a fantastic new bike--the experience involved some challenges that I feel compelled to address for the benefit of both the dealership and potential, future customers. My three star review is based off these issues: - Poor communication by both sales & service departments. - Salesman used an outdated incentives & discount sheet. BMF Finance caught the mistake and I was ultimately refunded the money, but it required more of my time coming back into the store to resign all the paperwork. - Told after the maintenance was performed that my BMW warranty didn't cover the expenses, even though I specifically asked if my signature was simply authorizing the inspection to occur. I asked for clarification and received a joke about signing over the title. - No mention by any member of the Adventure BMW team of the BMW MOA and the perks, benefits, or discounts for joining. Considering my significant investment in a new Motorrad riding suit, heated winter gear, rain gear, and a navigation system, the savings would have been significant. If you find yourself dealing with Adventure BMW, my recommendation is to be proactive in advocating for your needs and preferences. Clear and explicit communication is key, as it seems the research burden is on the customer to ensure all aspects are well understood. Some stores pride themselves on customer service, but you'll be lucky to get a proper greeting when you walk inside or finish a complete sentence before being interrupted by the service department. On BMW forums and social media pages I've read about the culture and sense of belonging amongst BMW owners and enthusiasts. In my experience at Adventure BMW that culture does not exist. While I acknowledge the challenges, it's important to note that, in the end, Adventure BMW did deliver the exact bike I desired. As long as the service department maintains my bike in pristine condition, our transaction can be considered mutually beneficial. I look forward to smoother interactions in the future, hopeful that Adventure BMW will continue to refine its customer service for a more seamless experience.

Don't take this the wrong way however - there is a certain amount of charm to an older dealership that's survived the ups and downs over the years in the motorcycle industry yet somehow continues to open the doors every morning. It establishes an unspoken trust in an industry riddled with untrustworthy types. Take it from me, I used to work in it. Having said that - this is the motorcycle shop an enthusiast, weekend warrior or someone just starting out can buy a bike, get it serviced or fill a parts order without having to second guess the professionalism or integrity of the staff. That's increasingly rare these days but appreciated nonetheless.

I filled out the appointment details online but didn't hear back from them so I called and one of the mechanics told me "I'm too busy to pay attention to that online BS just bring the bike in and we'll look at it". They are busy and it took them about a month to get the repair estimate but once I gave the go ahead they were terrific about keeping me updated about the status of the work being performed. After Mike got done working on it and I took it down Tidewater on the way home the bike ran like brand new. Of course it helped that I had drained the tank before putting it into storage. Real old school, reliable way of doing motorcycle maintenance.
