I've had such a wonderful experience at the Lourdes Fitness Center, but what truly made it…read moreexceptional was working with my personal trainer, Alexis. I trained with her for over two years, starting about six months after I had my daughter. At first, she helped me get back to feeling like my normal self again and then over time she helped train me to reach my goal of gaining more muscle/strength. I could see and feel the difference but I could also see the improvement in the numbers from the InBody assessments. Alexis was the reason I consistently showed up to the gym. We trained weekly in both 30- and 60-minute sessions, and she always knew how to balance motivating me to push harder with recognizing when my body needed a slower pace. Because I've dealt with multiple injuries, she often had to adapt my workouts, sometimes acting like a physical therapist as much as a trainer, and she did it with such knowledge and care. Beyond her expertise, Alexis is simply an amazing person. She made the time we spent together fun, supportive, and inspiring. I looked forward to our sessions not just for the fitness, but for the energy and encouragement she brought. I truly can't recommend her enough as a personal trainer. The only reason I'm no longer working with her is because I've moved, otherwise, I'd still be training with her today. Lourdes also offers on-site childcare, which was such a game changer for me. Knowing my daughter had a safe, fun place to play with caring staff made it possible for me to show up and focus on my workouts.

This gym is very nice! They have a lot of amenities. It is spacious and clean. Whatever your…read morefitness interests are, I think this place has it offered. I am deducting a star because the sign on process is incredibly invasive and unlike anything I have seen anywhere else. They ask for pages of private medical information; everything from what medications you are on to what ailments you have. They want to know all of surgeries you have had, if you're depressed, who are all the doctors you see and what is their contact information. It is absurd. They are also very secretive with their pricing. They ask for this health information and you have to get a tour from a salesman before they will even tell you that it costs $66/month to join. The process is the same for personal training, yoga, and pilates. No one seems to know what the classes cost. You can only find out after taking an introductory class. It's such a turn off. If you can get past those things, and you are just joining for the basic amenities, you will enjoy the gym.

This gym is definitely affordable for member but when it comes down to someone visiting and wanting…read moreto use the club temporarily, it costs a fortune. This gym has most equipment you could want; leg, arm and ab machines and plenty of cardio machines. With that being said, the club is really busy and I've found myself waiting to use machines pretty frequently. They need more ab machines, they have one of each kind and that's certainly not enough. Some guests are cognizant of the fact that they should get on the machine, do their thing and then get off, but some people take their sweet time so it all depends. Their cardio machines are on top of one another, you can easily reach out and touch the person next to you and it makes it really difficult to get on and off the machines without brushing up against the person working out on the machine next door. The ellipticals fill up quickly, the other day not one person was using any of the ellipticals in front of me and the second 5 pm hit, every cardio machine in the entire joint was occupied. They have bikes but only 5 or 6. The one thing I don't like about Planet Fitness is the set up; it's arranged in such a way where you feel like you are on display for everyone to watch you. The cardio machines are facing the weights so while you're lifting, everyone on the cardio machines are looking straight ahead at you, it's weird. The place I must say is clean. They have several stations around the gym with paper towels and spray for you to use on the equipment after you use it. I've seen people walking around the gym sweeping and clean up so that's definitely a positive. The locker rooms are spacious and clean for the most part but they don't have paper towels in there, just air dryers, another pet peeve of mine. They have an area "roped" off in the back with various machines with a sign stating that the space is to be used for training sessions only. Not sure what that means exactly but seldom do you see people in that section so I'm not quite sure what's happening in there. So what bothers me here is the fact that if I want to work out ONCE, it will cost me $20. Seriously? That's ridiculous. They don't have an option to buy a week so for someone visiting they really don't make this gym an option unless you don't care about throwing your money away. Sure, they have a penny down $10 a month membership but you are required to sign up for a year. They have another membership thats 20 something a month, no commitment but you have a 30 or 40 dollar "sign up fee" and so you're going to be spending a fortune for that as well. It would be nice to be able to come here for a few sessions and not empty your wallet. It's not like they're running out of resources by lowering their daily rate, it's a gym. To be honest, I found another gym in Vestal that has a free week long trial and a no commitment monthly fee. It's more expensive but any gym that tries to do right by the client is going to get my business.
