I'm extremely disappointed with the care my cat received here and with how multiple concerns were handled. My cat was spayed here and began having complications almost immediately. Her incision and stitches did not look right, and she developed open wounds, signs of infection, and significant discomfort. I contacted the office multiple times, sent photos, and brought her in for a follow-up, yet I was repeatedly told that everything looked normal and that she was fine. After continuing to raise concerns, I was finally told to take her to Irvine Valley Veterinary Hospital. I spent the night there and was charged nearly an additional $1,000 to have her incision re-stitched. It was incredibly frustrating to have repeatedly voiced concerns, only to end up paying significantly more to address a problem I had been told multiple times was "fine." I expressed how unhappy I was with the situation and was told the medical director would contact me. I never received a call. More recently, I noticed a pattern on the whites of my cat's eyes and sent a photo to the office. I was told by the vet that it was not normal and that I should either bring her in or see a veterinary ophthalmologist. I followed their recommendation and went to the ophthalmologist they referred me to, only to be told after a 20 second exam that what I was seeing was completely normal. I still had to pay the office visit and exam fees. Between the complications from her spay, my concerns being repeatedly dismissed, the lack of follow-up from the medical director, and being unnecessarily worried and referred to a specialist for something that turned out to be normal, I've lost confidence in the care provided here. My experiences with Dr. Ramos and other veterinarians at both the primary care office and hospital have left me feeling that my concerns were not taken seriously and that the level of care, communication, and professionalism was not what I would expect from a veterinary practice. I had an incredible experience at Irvine Valley with Dr. Manoukian and two of the wonderful technicians Cheyene and Kierra, if I could give them more than 5 stars I absolutely would. My dog ate a piece of a sock and after having x rays done at our vet we were recommended to go to emergency for a possible abdominal ultrasound and endoscope. From the very first call everyone who helped me was kind and helpful. They got me in immediately, were extremely calm, and immediately had an action plan. Thanks to their quick thinking we were able to induce vomiting instead of doing a more invasive procedure. The team kept me up to date about pricing and next steps while thoroughly explaining all of my options and possible outcomes. You can tell that everyone who works there loves what they do and I am so incredibly grateful for them. My dog was in an unfortunate medical emergency on a Friday night, and we were fortunate enough to get him admitted to Irvine Valley Emergency immediately. Within about 30 minutes of our arrival, the team was able to identify the issue and come up with a treatment plan. Unfortunately, it was a condition that required urgent surgery. Every doctor on duty, both day and night, went above and beyond to help our dog. They called every possible facility in Orange County and the surrounding areas to find a specialty hospital that could accommodate the type of surgery he urgently needed. They also kept me updated throughout the night, calling during all hours to let me know how my dog was doing and where they were in the process of arranging his CT scan and surgery. It was an incredibly stressful and costly situation, but the empathy, sense of urgency, professionalism, and communication from the entire care team truly made a difference during such a difficult time. They treated our dog with so much care and compassion, and I am incredibly grateful to have such a caring and capable emergency hospital close to home. Several years ago, Irvine Valley Emergency Clinic earned my trust when they successfully removed a large bone from my dog's stomach by endoscopy. The care was exceptional from check-in through discharge, and I appreciated that they offered overnight endoscopy--a service many emergency hospitals do not. Unfortunately, my recent experience was very different. On Saturday, June 27, my senior foster dog swallowed the head of a toothbrush. Before driving 45 minutes to Irvine Valley, I called to confirm that overnight endoscopy was available. I conference-called the rescue owner so we both heard the confirmation. After check-in, my dog was examined, X-rayed, and given medication to induce vomiting, which was unsuccessful. We were then told the foreign body was in his stomach and that endoscopy would be needed. Around midnight, I was shocked to learn that the veterinarian on duty did not perform endoscopy. He informed me the veterinarian who did had gone home at 10:00 p.m. This was the first time anyone told us the service I had specifically called to verify was no longer available. He informed me they were sending us to an ER in Laguna Hills. However, when I asked what was the delay, an employee told me 'oh they can't do it". I started calling around myself and finally located VEG Costa Mesa, where my dog underwent another exam, another set of X-rays, and ultimately had the toothbrush removed by endoscopy around 5:00 a.m. Had I been given accurate information before I arrived--or even immediately after check-in--I would have gone directly to a hospital that could perform the procedure. Instead, my foster dog experienced unnecessary delays, and the rescue incurred duplicate charges for exams and X-rays. I called Irvine Valley to discuss this with the administrator twice after the incident requesting reimbursement for the duplicate services. Both times I was told the manager would return my call. As of July 4, I have not received any response. I still believe Irvine Valley has skilled veterinarians and has provided excellent care in the past. My concern is with the inaccurate information about endoscopy availability, the resulting delay in treatment, and the lack of follow-up afterward. I hope this review encourages better communication so future clients can make informed decisions during already stressful emergencies. read more

The front office is SO loving, sweet, on top of their stuff and were always on the go for every single pet owner that came through their doors. We went here on a Friday night 2/20 amongst other pet emergencies and the front office was always triaging, doing paperwork, constantly busy but remained being so kind and sweet to every pet and their owner. We sat in the lobby for a few hours, and the front office offered us gift cards for our troubles of waiting to be seen, never had that ever happen before! The office was so busy that I had to leave my pup with them but all throughout the night, the doctor and front office kept me updated and constantly kept me in the loop on status updates and next steps. I so appreciated this!!! We came here because my 10 yr old Cairn Terrier was diagnosed by our primary veterinarian to be Diabetic but in a ketoacidosis stage and that we only had literally 48 hours left with him so they pushed euthanasia on us. This was in the middle of the day Friday, that same night- I needed to get a 2nd opinion because we were only given a death sentence and the alternative was to get him hospitalized, we could not afford the bill but I had to know if there was anything else we could do. Dr. Jesse Tolentino literally helped us prolong our dog's life, our primary vet gave us either hospitalization or euthanasia. Dr. Tolentino gave us hope! No guarantees, but hope and helped us buy more time with our boy. He recommended that we get him on insulin ASAP to see if it could at least work since we couldn't afford the hospitalization. Next day, we went to our primary, immediately got to establishing insulin and booking an appointment for a glucose curve. No guarantees with the insulin being able to get him out of ketoacidosis but Dr. Jesse Tolentino helped us buy more time to be with our sweet boy. They say diabetes will eventually catch up with their lives but he's only 10 and a small dog! Attaching a picture of our boy at the ER. The ER bill was expensive but it was so worth having a 2nd professional opinion that did not push me to euthanize my clearly happy looking dog. It's Monday 2/23, we completed a glucose curve at our primary and our boy's ketones have dropped to .9 with insulin! His ketones were at 5 and then a 2+ at the ER. I brought my 15-year-old Shiba Inu, Kuma, in after a stressful couple of days involving appetite loss, GI upset, and a lot of worry on my end. From the moment we arrived, the staff was kind, patient, and genuinely attentive especially important when you're dealing with a senior dog and a nervous owner. The veterinarian took the time to listen carefully, didn't rush us, and explained everything clearly. They ran appropriate diagnostics, caught early-stage kidney disease (Stage 2), and walked me through a thoughtful, compassionate plan focused on Kuma's comfort and quality of life. I really appreciated that they considered his sensitive stomach and prescribed a renal hydrolyzed diet instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach. What stood out most was how calm and reassuring the entire team was. I never felt dismissed or pressured into unnecessary testing, and they were respectful about costs and next steps. Kuma was handled gently, and it was obvious they truly care about their patients. Thanks to their care, Kuma is back to walking, eating better, and even being playful again and I feel informed and supported moving forward. If I could give more than five stars, I would. I cannot thank Dr. Christine Babula and the team at the Irvine emergency veterinarian enough for saving my dog's life. After visiting two other clinics--including Mariner's Mile in Newport--my dog was repeatedly dismissed as being "dramatic" about some supposed hip pain. I knew something was very wrong, but I left each time feeling like my concerns weren't taken seriously. It turns out he was actually suffering from brain swelling due to bee stings--a medical emergency no one else considered. Dr. Babula and the Irvine ER staff immediately recognized something was gravely wrong. They moved quickly, ran the right diagnostics, and not only correctly identified his brain swelling, but literally resuscitated him at one point. Their expertise and compassion were obvious at every step, and Dr. Babula made sure I understood what was happening the entire time. She treated my dog (and me) with such kindness and respect--the exact opposite of what I experienced elsewhere. Without their incredible care, I am certain my dog would not be alive today. If your pet is in crisis, I cannot recommend Dr. Babula and the Irvine emergency vet team highly enough. Three days later and the owner of this hospital, Mike Cao, has not called back. He seems to respond to reviews on yelp, but apparently he doesn't pick up the phone. That leads to me believe that it's not even actually him responding to people on Yelp. A manager of the hospital called and said they were the best person to help me, and I insisted that I speak to Mr. Cao. They continued on that they are the managers and the best people to help me, but I insisted that I talked to someone that is actually a doctor and not administrative. it has been more than three days. We got an analysis of the fluid in his abdomen that built up, which was more than a pint and a half and this hospital allowed it to remain and didn't even take a sample like they promised to do. The analysis showed that his body is fighting some sort of infection and his blood cells rapidly increased. Not only could they have removed the fluid, but they could have given him an antibiotic. They failed to give our antibiotic to our French bulldog as well when he had an infection. In my opinion, it is cruelty to a dog to do what they did and just take my money and allow him to suffer. He is anemic and fighting an infection and basically fighting for his life. Now they won't even respond to me. There are a few good doctors here that do the right thing. But has a hole, two out of our four visits in the last year. These guys have not done what was right for our dogs and left two dogs in pain leaving their hospital without proper care. read more

We had a really positive experience at Irvine Valley Veterinary Hospital during a stressful time with our pup, Mocha. From the moment we walked in, the team (Brandon especially) stood out. Brandon was incredibly kind, patient, and communicative, which made a huge difference for us as anxious parents. He loves labs too and mocha loves being loved! Toni, Julie, Serena and Marcela were amazing with mocha too and really helped calm some of her stress too Dr Sohn took the time to thoroughly talk with us, gather Mocha's history, and understand everything that was going on. We never felt rushed or brushed off, they made sure we were fully informed and prepared for each step. Most importantly, they helped keep us calm during an overwhelming situation. If you're considering bringing your pet to this ER, please reconsider. Go to VEG ER instead. At VEG, everything happens right in front of you - the exam table is in the same room, you see what they're doing, you hear what they're saying, and you're involved in the decisions. There is transparency, compassion, and actual participation in your pet's care. At IVVH, your pet is taken to the back - out of sight, where they do questionable things that only they know about. You sit alone, scared and powerless, and have no idea what is happening. After my girl received a transfusion here, she immediately had a seizure. I asked (multiple times) for clarification about what happened. A vet tech reached out, but when I asked additional questions, she said her manager would contact me, but no one ever followed up. I also asked for clarification about why a cross-match was not performed before the transfusion and for more details about the medical decisions that were made. The person I spoke with gave vague, evasive answers and did not address my concerns directly. They said they would look into it and get back to me - but again, no one ever did. The lack of communication, lack of transparency, and lack of follow through is unacceptable. The silence and avoidance afterward made everything ten times worse. At the very least, I expected honesty and answers. Instead, I received nothing. Also, everything here is slow - except taking your money. That part is faster than anything else they seem capable of doing. If you want your pet to receive subpar care from incompetent doctors and staff with poor communication skills, this is the place to be. read more

Terrible experience, do not recommend -Appointment was at 8AM on a Monday. I stayed until 9:05 despite only having no more than 5mn of facetime with the staff and with no other customer waiting by the front office. No treatment was done/administered, I just waited in a room for the whole time and had to chase staff after not being seen for 20mn. - I was told I could get my cat tested for allergies (skin testing) which was not the case. Only blood testing was available - Pricing for the blood testing (and somehow for the consultation) was outrageous, ~50% more than other providers within the area and much more than home kits. I visited this wonderful Animal ER Clinic at 4:00 am on Oct 9 with a clients little 15 yr old dog who been injured during a grooming a week earlier. (Dogs are so stoic). His little rear end had been abberated by either a finger nail or a grooming tool and he was screaming and howling in pain. I took my dog for an emergency. He was not breathing normally and they had us wait in the car. We told them his breaths were getting shorter and shorter. Our lovely friend hated cars but this day he went in as if he knew it was going to be his last day on earth and he accepted it. He didn't go crazy with anxiety like he usually did in cars. We went back to ask how long they said shortly. We told them he can't and won't get out of the car his eyes looked defeated and he was barely moving. I knew in my heart something was wrong. We went again a third time they kept saying shortly. More than 37 minutes maybe more later they came out and carried him into their emergency room because the guy saw him and he probably was like we need to get this dog in now.Yeah that is what we were trying to tell them. Isn't this an emergency hospital for emergencies? Well, we were right his heart gave out and how sad that they let him suffer in the car that long because they did not take our plea for help seriously. Unfortunetly our baby did not make it and it breaks my heart. I have gone to the other location for my other dog and her appointments and surgeries but this location was the worst. I did not feel the urgency to save an animal or try to take me seriously. When you are in the moment your brain is all over the place but looking back I would have not come here and recommend another location. I remember my first doggy I took her to a new place as an emergency and they came instantly with a stretcher. The doctor was so compassionate and told me it was time and I gave her the best life but it was her time. I mean they came running to see her. I called them and when I got to the lot I called again to say I was there and they ran to us. I miss my two best friends so much. I hope this location never does this to anyone else ever, waiting in the car while your pet is slowly taking their lasts breaths is so sad. So again hope this never happens to people who need an emergency for their loved pets/family friends. Avoid this ER if you really have an emergency they might not take you seriously or have you wait a long time while you pet is slowly passing away in your arms. read more

The staff is amazing a 10 out of 10 , 5 plus stars .the staff was amazingly hospitable, th even have a transport service that picks up your animal if you need help transporting. ALEX WHO drove the ambulance to pick up my Rabbit was great ! AUBREY SET EVERYTHING UP. THE REPS IN FRONT & all staff especially ,MAFER & Serena were amazing. Dr. HSING .wad very thorough and explained everything throughly. Everything was made sure my rabbit was OK and healthy. If you guys ever need anything for your pets. This is the place to go! Worth every penny. They are fully dedicated to customer service & the animals they are serving. The office and facility is clean & organized and they even have a snack area. Everyone here truly goes above and beyond for your pets and truly are very accommodating with the owners. They help you truly address and calm your worries! Beyond 5 stars. We've had to bring our dog here twice in the past month, and our experience with Dr Fletcher and the staff who work the overnight shift have always been stellar. Yes, this place can have a wait if your pet isn't in critical condition, but that's to be expected in an emergency room servicing a huge part of Irvine. However, the staff are super kind, understanding, and pleasant people - especially Brandon who works the front desk, and Mayra who handles payment and going over the bill. Vet bills always feel exorbitantly high, but to put things into perspective - the same procedure that we had to have done for our pup at another ER (VCA), they tried to gouge us for $2,800, and Irvine Valley only charged us $547. That was an astonishing difference. We are so very grateful that this hospital is nearby to our home because they also allowed us to wait with our pup at home and called us shortly before they would be ready for her. When Dr Fletcher was ready for us, she was super thorough and actually listened to us about what was going on to find the right solution for our pup, rather than barrage our pup with a battery of unnecessary tests, or unnecessary surgical solutions. I can't thank this hospital enough for everything they have done for our dog, and highly recommend them over any other ER hospital in Irvine or the surrounding areas. read more

When I realized something was wrong with my new kitten, I totally panicked and just searched for the closest emergency vet near me on Yelp. I had no idea that quick decision would lead to such amazing care. From the very first phone call with the receptionist, I felt like we were in good hands. I brought him in right away per her instructions, and even though he had to stay a few days, the staff made everything so much easier. They sent me photos and regular updates through their app, and answered all my (many, many) questions without making me feel like a bother. I received multiple calls directly from my vet about him. I can't tell you how much of a comfort that was when I was so scared. When it was time to bring him home, I could tell they genuinely believed he was ready. I even brought him back the next day just to be sure everything was going okay because again paranoid cat mom, and the team was so kind and never made me feel crazy. I seriously can't recommend this place enough. They took such good care of my little baby, and I felt supported the whole way through. Your pet is in good hands here. read more

My sweet senior dog got into the trash and managed to eat rib bones and chicken bones. Causing her to suffer from bloat. I was so scared and unsure of what was gonna happen, but the second I walked into this hospital I knew that we were in good hands. It was almost like all of that fear and doubt in the veterinary industry just disappeared. The staff was so attentive to my poor pup, and they were incredibly helpful with helping us figure out how to pay for the entire procedure and the after care needed. I will never bring my pet to another veterinary office. I just won't. If you want next level care for your pet. Then I truly urge you to come here! Every single person on the staff deserves a raise. I found this animal hospital as a recommendation from baker Bristol pet hospital and I couldn't have been more pleased that I did! My rabbit Gia one morning wasn't eating and was hiding in a corner and I knew something was wrong. I quickly called around and found this hospital. They were extremely friendly on the phone and told me they will get the team ready and to bring her in. I drove an hour to get there and as soon as I went in, they took her in right away due to the urgency. I was there for almost 8 hours but it was worth it. The technicians, doctor and staff were extremely friendly. They stated that Gia's temperature was low and they put her on a warmer and later gave her some injections for nutrients and nausea. I have attached a photo of the friendly technician (I forgot her name, my apologies) showing me how to give Gia's take home medication, she was very informative and friendly :). This hospital didn't seem pushy at all and seemed honest. Most would have pushed me to buy x rays and blood work that cost over $1,000 but instead they just gave me options and choices. All in all, I was worried sick about Gia passing away due to gi-stasis, my last rabbit Mia unfortunately was a victim of it. This hospital knew the severity and took care of her. THAT SAME NIGHT GIA WAS EATING AGAIN AND BACK TO HER HYPER, FUN SELF!!! My animals are FAMILY and I'm glad this hospital treated Gia as so. I know the wait times can be a bit tough, but you have to understand that this hospital goes based on severity and urgency. Overall I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! They quite possible saved Gia's LIFE and I will forever be grateful GOD BLESS! read more

As a crazy bird lady, I'm grateful to Irvine Valley Veterinary Hospital. The entire staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They have seen two of my birds and each time I've had a great experience with Dr. Christine Bobula. My bird was not himself for a few days and not eating, after an emergency vet visit he was eating and you could see the relief on his little face. Love how thorough the staff and techs are when you bring in your pets. The wait times vary, the first time I went it was a longer wait due to many emergencies. My second trip here was in the evening and the wait time was a lot better. You're going to have to be patient which is a given and understandable. Pricing was great for exotics. Again it depends on what treatment you decide to go through with. Call ahead of time for any exotic/avian emergencies. read more
