Nasty Attitude by front desk staff. Told me they "don't do emergencies" or urgent care when their website says they do. Acted as if she would be doing me a big favor to look at my sick kitty. Insisted that I hadn't called for information and an appointment , when I had. Showed her the number on their we site I had called.... When a pet owner comes in with a cat that needs to be seen urgently, attitude should be the last thing the front desk should give to that owner. Never going back. read more

Update on my cat because the experience here was truly so horrific and traumatizing. After being charged $2500 by Irvine pet hospital and having them leave my cat with a mouthful rotten teeth after 5+ hours under anesthesia for tooth extraction, I sought emergency care elsewhere as he stopped eating completely from pain (which is why I initially sought care). My cat underwent successful full mouth extractions for the worst stomatitis the new vet had ever seen. He is thriving and happy all these years later despite the vet at Irvine pet hospital telling me I "should just dump him back at the shelter or euthanize him". Was also charged by Irvine pet hospital several times to treat a "severe" parasitic skin infection until I realized months later they were looking at his old mange from being on the streets for years. Overall wasted over $3000 here in the span of a month only to have to go elsewhere and spend another $3000 for the job to be done right. read more

When your fur babies are your world, you want the best possible care and this is the place. I can't say thank you enough for their services and care after my dog had multiple seizures. We didn't feel like just another transaction, they took the time to explain his diagnosis and all the tests that might be needed while giving us options on the best route financially. Cutie had an ear infection, and my primary goal was to get him the treatment he needed ASAP. Crystal was able to fit him in that same day considering they were fully booked. That alone to me shows the compassion (IPH) has for a fur-baby in need. "Lindsey", was the nurse who saw Cutie in the waiting room. Her love for fur-babies shows in the way she presents herself. The compassion and commitment (along with experience) proves she has the best interest at heart for a member of ur extended family (pet). Note: Cutie has severe anxiety and separation anxiety since he was abused as a puppy. It takes a while for Cutie to warm up to anyone because of his past experiences but Cutie was able to warm up to Lindsey quite quickly . September 15 2025 worst day of my life Sadee was my 17th dog so I am no rookie to euthanasia. Never in my life has it taken longer the 15 minutes but Dr Peth could not get an IV in & kept sticking the poor dog finally I said enough so that she said well I guess we could put her under anesthesia & the topper was we sat in the room for 45 minutes and not until I went hunting for my dog did they come in the room. I shall never return for any of their services. They never sent a survey because they knew it would not be a good one!!! My advice to other people is to ask if the Vet is experienced at euthanasia??. Drove up from San Diego to this location based on a recommendation from a close friend. Was dog sitting an older Bichon with a nasty ear infection, and the place back home didn't cut it. We pulled up and the dog was nervous knowing we were at a vet place, but the staff was super warm and welcoming and he fit right in. First, Lindsey helped us out and she was amazing with the dog. Super knowledgeable and friendly, she handled tests and made sure our pet was safe and relaxed. Dr. Katia Martinho came out and was very informative and was very gentle with Toast. I helped my mom bring her cat in this past weekend and we saw Dr. Sheri Candeletta. She was absolutely fantastic. I've had many cats over the years (and many vet visits) and her care, patience and practical solutions for my mom's cats wellness were wonderful. I feel great knowing my mom has a great vet she can trust. I've also been to a number of vets where you feel like you're getting hustled or pressured to add-on services that are optional until you get over $1,000 a visit and I can say that WAS NOT the case here! I'm completing this review after almost 3 years since my dog passed away. I had a female miniature dachshund, black and tan, which I transferred from another veterinarian in Costa Mesa to Irvine Pet Hospital, which was about five minutes from my home. During the next approximately 13 to 15 years most of the treatments went well. She developed some internal problems which they could not handle, and they recommend I take her to another veterinarian in Tustin. I did, and they helped her as much as they could until it reached a point where she could not be helped any longer. I did not consider Irvine Pet Hospital to be responsible or responsive, and their boarding services turned out to be less than desirable. I remember one instance where there was a large fire in Irvine approaching our area and we were taking our dog to be boarded at Irvine Pet Hospital, but found them to be closed. I had made a pre-reservation to include the date of drop off and pick up, but they never called to advise of the closure or offer an alternative boarding place. They simply left a note on the door that during the fire they had transferred the dogs to another facility. No notification, nothing. Fortunately, we were able to find another place to board our dog during the time that we were going to be gone, but we were lucky to find it. No notice. Irvine Pet Hospital was just not run efficiently. If I were to get another dog - or any pet - I would not choose Irvine Pet Hospital under any circumstances. One other point I would like to make. After our dog passed away, we had her cremated, and filled out a form to have Irvine Pet Hospital notified of her passing. We received an almost immediate response from the new veterinarian that we took her to, but received absolutely nothing from Irvine Pet Hospital. Shameful. read more

Well, here is another bad review to a well deserving business. Please find another place. If you love your pets, do not go here! There are much better places out there. This place not only has terrible Doctors but the front staff lacks courtesy and education. I've been coming to this place for many years and have never been happy with the knowledge of the doctors (always a different doctor and recent graduates) and their recommended services. However, since my two dogs were due on their vaccines, I thought why not just give them one more chance. The day of our appointment, the city was resurfacing the streets right next to the "pet complex" and all the main entrance to the building were blocked/closed. I had two dogs and I cat, so it was very difficult to get there. I noticed that the only open entrance was from Del Taco restaurant right across from them. I made a comment to the front desk employee that should be telling their patients over the phone that the street is closed and how to best get to their clinic. She looked at me as if she wanted to punch me and in a very sarcastic tone of voice she responded "I take that feedback, thank you." Again, with her tone of voice and attitude I knew I was at the wrong place. I turn around and left. Looking forward to hearing from the owner/manager of this place. read more

I used to take my dogs here for grooming and for any veterinary concerns and the staff here have always been 100% especially during this pandemic. about 2 months ago I had to let one of my babies go due to old age/blindness and i brought her here to get put down and the doctors and the staff were all so kind and made the process a little more bearing. I appreciate the card they sent us in the mail with individual hand written notes about Nala. STAY AWAY. We used to love coming here with our previous dog. Unfortunately, some of the vets have changed recently. We had several unpleasant experiences with Dr. Katia Martinho, who is extremely rude and impatient. She is short-tempered, not willing to answer questions, and declared that she will not treat our (lovely and friendly) puppy, unless our pup comes "heavily medicated" with sedatives. I can stress enough how unpleasant this person is, she shouldn't be working with animals. It's sad that what used to be a wonderful place to come to has now left such a horrific mark on us. The doctors and facilities are OK, but the reception is just rude and insensitive. This is supposed to be my pet hospital but when I brought my dog in due to chocking, this receptionist, not only did not help, but told me that I have to WAIT OUTSIDE the hospital, for what reason, I don't know. I was very clear about what is happening, my dog pickup a few spilled almond nuts from the BBQ last night and he is choking on it. While my dog was choking, the receptionist told me to "wait outside". The insensitive untrained response from the receptionist/cashier and that disgusting facial expressions is still forever imprinted in my mind. It is apparent to me that she obviously does not treak my dog as a patient. They don't want to see my family member in a crisis, then they don't need to see me or receive any good reviews from me. They are not the only vet around, it's just close, but given the unprofessional reception I received at the front desk this morning, I wouldn't keep my dog there for day care. Just flat out unprofessional, insensitive and uncaring. Therefore, I am officially moving away from this hospital, not because the doctors are bad, but because the receptionist/cashier don't know how to treat their customers(dog) with the right kind of attention or have th compassion we pet owners have. So pet owners beware. You want to visit the place, gotta go through a gauntlet in the front reception and make sure you have an appointment first to be not asked to stand outside the door. Irvine Pet Hospital. Not sure when name changed. I brought my puppy here to get neutered. He had ONE baby tooth left that needed to be extracted so the discussion with the staff about doing it while he was already under and they agreed saying this is what they usually do. Mid way through this procedure the vet called and said they recommend an X-ray and they will extract the tooth. That was the Convo and we agreed to pay the extra amount for this. We go to pick him up and guess what. No extraction. When we called back to discuss what happened they said "oh the tooth just fell right out so the doctor didn't even charge you". So that was a bold face lie. Then I said no it's still there. "Check your receipt we didn't charge but it's there". Guess what. Not there! I called Again to say this is not okay to say one thing and not do it then proceed to LIE. They assured me they would discuss this with the vet and get back to me. Never herd back from them, called again to get a consult to then DO THE EXTRACTION. We get there and AGAIN say this is not okay for us to have to come back and put the dog under sedation and do this ALL OVER AGAIN. The doctor came and saw him for a few mins and recommended an extraction. Of course. The girl comes to show me the "quote" and it's was well over 1400$!!!!!! For ONE baby tooth in an 8lb dog!!!!!!!!!! I said this is insane. This is your guys fault and then you want to charge me all these fees that he doesn't need to be charged. So she goes back and "adjusted" it to 1100. I cannot believe it. It's straight robbery and disrespect. They made the mistake and are "giving me a deal" to do something so simple. They had a "clumped fees" for teeth and that included teeth cleaning. He's too young for cleaning but they can't take off that extra 100+ because "it's a deal". DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS FOR YOUR FUR BABIES! They are only out to cut corners and steal as much money from their customers. Never coming back here. read more

Dr Maki, is kind compassionate and a wonderful caring doctor.. I was a wreck leaving Sophie for her dental and he called me a couple of times to go over everything and put me at ease. Sophie came home in great shape and her recovery was really fast. I cannot say enough good things about this doctor.. The only thing is he is only there one day a week.... While everyone here was very kind and gentle with my little old lady, I do not believe they provide as quality of service as my new vet ! My dog did get diagnosed here and everything but what differs is when I told Dr. Change about my dogs joint problems I was told "you can try joint treats". I just finished my checkup with my new vet at saddleback animal hospital and was told she has stage four luxating patellas !! Realllly would have appreciated that she was examined more thoroughly. It's also kind of expensive, so im saving money at my new vet. read more

The only remaining good thing was that Dr. Maki was still there but they have had a revolving door with vets and staff. There is no consistency with vets or the staff. The current staff is rude, unprofessional and they must have all missed the training because their lack of knowledge is unbelieveable. How can you develop a level of trust with individuals that are not trained and experienced. Prices have increased and service is below standard. They all turned out Beautifully..They do not do the pitbull short butcher looking ear cropping. It's an elegant cut..The ear cropping all matched their heads! I dumped her coffee over this morning and it was all good with her she said not a problem. she just cleaned it up said no problem sent me back to Dr. K who always works with me on what's best for my dog. This review is long overdue. Dr. Harner cared for all three of my cats: Koko, Bear, and Luca. Koko, a Norwegian Forest cat, got to live past 23 years of age! He was a true Viking warrior!! We used to joke that he was the oldest cat in Orange County, lol Bear lived to 17 years and little Luca, who was from a shelter, unfortunately died at the tender age of 2 as a result of FIP. Dr. Harner was incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate. I have since relocated to the Bay Area for work (I hope he still remembers us), but will never forget all the love and great care he and the entire staff at Irvine Pet Complex gave my three little angels! I had a last minute cancellation from my previous fresh dog food company and needed to scramble to feed my 8 year old poodle/ chihuahua. He explained transitioning guides and the best option for my dog. I chose the FedEx delivery option since I would not be able to get there before they closed. At the last minute, FedEx cancelled their delivery and Mack fixed the situation and my Pickles got to eat his Just Food for Dogs today, and loved every bite. I moved from the Chicagoland area to California just over 11 years ago. Back in Illinois we had a multi-pet-generational history with our family veterinarian of 30+ years. Moving to California brought with it a unique challenge: finding a clinic and a vet we could trust with our feline and canine family members' health. This was a real struggle for many years in Southern California: inflated vet bills, recommendations for batteries of tests, referrals for more expensive and oftentimes unnecessary procedures on the animals, administrative confusion (not knowing why we were there despite having made the appointment and confirmed it for the exact pet and ailment multiple times), 4-7 hour wait times, unprofessional staff (we've had managers tell us it would be weeks before they could see our sick pet, then become ill-tempered without reason) - - - the list goes on. I had pretty much given up hope on finding an ethical or professional veterinary clinic in the state. That is until Stephanie L. at Gallant referred me to Irvine Pet Complex. After working with Randy, Dr. Maki, and Dr. K, I feel relieved. Your clinic was our third opinion on Jax, our soon to be seven year old Doberman, who means the world to us. Having been diagnosed with benign prostate hyperplasia but receiving several conflicting professional recommendations, it was a breath of fresh air to work with your team. From start to finish, Randy was a rockstar. He returns phone calls, answers emails, and is extremely professional (you have an asset on your team)! Then working with Doctors Maki, Smith (who I didn't have the pleasure to meet but he performed the surgery on Jax) and Kirollos, I was very impressed. These folks are all top notch, not just their CVs - which are equally impressive - but their bedside manners and overall professionalism. They truly treated us with dignity and respect; they walked the walk to demonstrate the importance of a relationship and just how serious our pet's health was to them. We were not just another transaction. I feel strongly that positive feedback is at least as important, if not more, than constructive. Please share with the doctors, nurses, surgeon, and Randy - who have all positively impacted Jax's and our lives - just how appreciative of them we are. I've been bringing my cats to Irvine Pet Complex for many years and they are very comfortable getting their checkups. Dr. Harner takes special interest in the well-being of each cat and giving advice. Ryan and the front staff are always friendly when I check in and check out and when I make appointments. My orange tabby, Lilah, is on the Hills Prescription md diet to keep her weight down. Over the past several months, she has lost increments of weight and she is returning to her healthy, active self. Cricket, the youngest, is a great playmate and keeps Lilah active. I recently had to put my male kitty, Jasper, down because he was suffering from kidney and heart complications. Dr. Harner and the staff was very caring and understanding during this difficult time. Lilah and I were with my little guy during the procedure. I requested cremation and I later received his ashes in a lovely cedar box with a beautiful card. Dr. Harner has an exceptional bedside manner and treats my cats with the attentiveness they deserve. read more

I looked everywhere for a decent price for my dog getting his teeth pulled n cleaned as most places wanted 1500! I was greeted outside warmly and my dog was taken in and assessed. They gave me a really really decent estimate and gave me what the low/high would be which was great! We got his teeth done the following week. He was taken care of beautifully. I was given the meds to help w pain/infection and called on to make sure he was doing well. I'm happy to move all three of my pets to this facility with total confidence. read more

We've been bringing our cats here ever since we first got them. It's where they got their first check-ups, vaccines, etc. They vets here are super nice (we normally see Dr. Rellinger) and they are really good about trying to make your pets feel less nervous. We've also brought our cats here for day-boarding a couple times, when we had house work being done. They charge $15/cat per day. I don't think our cats enjoyed it (which is expected, obviously) but I know they took great care of our cats and it was super convenient with our work schedules. They are open late enough that you can make appointments for after work rather than having to miss work to come here. We will definitely be loyal to this vet. read more

Our kitty, Starski, was diagnosed with large kidney cysts, kidney failure, and probable cancer. Dr. Harner referred us to a specialist, where we ultimately decided against any invasive procedures (due to Starski's age, and the fact that nothing would fix his failing kidneys). Dr. Harner followed him closely for a week, where we determined that the large cysts were at risk of rupturing. Starski wasn't himself, hiding and lethargic. Yesterday we made the difficult decision to put him to sleep, before one of the cysts ruptured. Dr. Harner cried with us, which meant so much. He has been Starski's vet for 10 years. We will miss him terribly, but are so grateful for Dr. Harner's kindness and support during this difficult time. We will miss Starski terribly. We will continue to bring our other kitties here, because they are loved and treated like family by the staff at Irvine Pet Complex. read more

I'll make this quick called to get my dog neuter quote the lady who answered gave me a estimate of close to a$1,000,00 already knowing my dog is less than 100 lbs. I mentioned her being my second inquiry and what she told me was about $650.00 more than my first call to a clinic in Aliso Viejo at that point she started to give me a laundry list of reasons as to why ya know when someone does that it's a immediate RED FLAG so in my GUT without question felt it necessary to reflect this experience with YELP so the public can review and see this NOW I would imagine immediately after this post one might see reviews that will reflect what an awesome and great clinic this is to take your pet beware and look elsewhere for other options is my suggestion cause there are better more honest and fair options available and those are the people I prefer to work with JUST SAYING read more

1. The visit took over an hour. Dr. Maki said they were "backed up." 2. Dr. Maki said that if the sore had healed in a week, I didn't need to bring my dog, Lad back. 3. When the tech brought my dog out, she mentioned that he might have ringworm, which is contagious to humans. She said that Dr. Maki said that I SHOULD bring Lad back in a week. 4. No discharge instructions. (sent them later by email, at my request) 5. They forgot to give me one of the meds, which I had paid for. You need to do a fungal test to diagnose ringworm. They didn't, they just scared me to death. They did make an adjustment to my bill. Dr. Maki called me later and apologized for the "miscommunication." I will never go back there. read more
