    Dance studio/ fitness class room

Clean and functional equipment (sanitized every hour). An activity for the whole family to participate in. There is a swimming pool available for lap swim and family swim on Sunday. The gym is available for family gym, adult gym, and there is also basketball lessons starting at age 5. The dance studio is where most classes are located - like yoga cycling body pump and step. The cardio room, strength room, and bears den has very good equipment. Schedule a tour by calling!

The Irving Park Y is a total throwback to the Y's roots when it's main purpose was to house single, young men of faith for a reasonable price. It still has these efficiency apartments to rent at reasonable (not just Chicago reasonable) prices. Although from what I've seen you could delete the "Y" part because most of the gents I've seen there look to be old enough to be the original denizens of the rooms when this Y opened in 1925! ;0) My only experience with this place is the weight room and exercise room so I'll stick to those....The Bear's Den downstairs is the free weight area. It got its name from when The Chicago Bears of the late 60's through '71 used it for their physical training. It's awesomely retro in feel! In the basement, honey colored, slotted pine walls and Bears memorabilia all over. There's even a heavy bag and speed bag as you enter with reproduced posters of major boxing matches like Ali vs. Frazier. And it's always hot. Ha. But that's where retro ends. All the equipment is new or like new and besides a dedicated Decline Bench it is missing nothing. It even has a heavy lifting platform with the rubber weights. That's rare. And although this may sound like a meatheads dream, I've yet to run into one at this gym so I'm sure my wife would feel comfortable working out there. Mostly its just older men working their jaws more than their muscles. I enjoy listening to them bust each other's chops in an authentic Chicago accent. Did I mention XRT is always on the radio? Nice! The men's locker room needs a serious facelift and the plumbing needs some help but there is a wet and dry sauna if that's your thing. All in all a good place to workout and as an "away" Y member I get 12 free visits per year. Enjoy!

This YMCA has been here since 1925 according to the cornerstone on the sizeable brick building. Besides offering budget accommodations, they have fitness facilities and a parking lot for those who want to use them. I guess it's cheaper here than signing up for Bally's not far away. There is also a kid's area for play.

Riding my bike on a rainy day! Nothing is better than that!

Great gym, never packed or messy. I like the yoga and pilates classes & enjoyed the open gym adult volleyball last summer!

Brand new equipment in '12 so this place is far better than Bally's/LA Fitness.

That was one of the best decisions I've made since moving to Logan Square because now I've been working out there for almost 3 months. Alex (owner/trainer) let me try my first bootcamp class for free and then I signed up for a 6 week challenge. There are also new monthly packages now and Alex runs different challenges all the time! Alex is a friendly, chill guy and he really takes the time to learn about your skill level and your fitness goals and then really starts to find ways to motivate you and push you to be better! He's incredibly encouraging and my favorite part is that he's on this journey with all of us too. Having lost a lot of weight himself, he understands where a lot of different people struggle in their fitness/weight loss goals and he's always happy to share tips and tricks for working out and healthy eating. I've met some pretty fantastic people working out here and they always make me happy to wake up at 5:30AM to work out! Everyone's at different fitness and skill levels but Alex works with every member to provide modifications to exercises or to challenge you further with certain exercises. Alex changes up classes everyday so there's lots of variety and he focuses on high intensity interval training. His classes are typically 60% cardio and 40% strength training. Go check out a class if you want to get fit!

They scheduled one on one time (Coach Gabe) to walk me through the movements AND repeated them over and over AND gave me the substitutions I should walk into workouts with. 2. 1st workout (Coach Joy) welcomed me to the community, we did an icebreaker before the workout and she made sure to modify as I needed! 3. 2nd workout (Coach Kate) gave me her Bada$$ girl power energy and lots of encouragement! She started setting goals with me Day 3! 4. 3rd workout (Coach Jr but we call him Spice) made me push myself past what I thought I could do. The owner posted a YouTube video which he took down within 48 hours of posting stating he was in financial debt and having financial struggles and therefore was closing the gym. In the time I was out, my friend (who is a member) decided to buy me a 3-month membership worth $510 for me to get back into the gym, she specifically told him "it's going to be OK that she is not coming back until Feb 2025 and he said there was no problem" he listed the expiration date as 03-31-2025. It was shady to sell this membership knowing you were closing the business, and the membership would not be valid. I reached out, and asked how we can remedy this and asked for at least a partial refund back to the original purchaser since the membership was invalid. He has made no attempts to contact me back, I also made a claim with Better Business Bureau which he hasn't responded to the claim. I would avoid his new gym he is opening, due to shady practices.
