I needed a "Heavy Kine" breakfast this morning before my salon appointment and I was hoping Nalu's didn't have a long line and man was I happy there was no line! I got there maybe around 9:15/20 am. I honestly haven't been in a while because they can have long lines with tourists. Nalu's is a great spot for locals and visitors alike for some ono breakfast selection and also delicious lunch and dinner. Some of my favorites have been the Loco Moco, Corn Flake Crusted French Toast, and the Cubano. Some friends have gotten lighter healthier options like the Açaí or Pitaya Bowl or any of the Fresh Salads. The open air concept with local music and slack key guitar playing in the background is inviting! They also have live performances on several evenings and a happy hour between 3-6 pm that I have yet to try. I went for the Heavy Kine Breakfast which includes two eggs, I got Over Hard, a breakfast meat (get the homemade Portuguese Sausage and pour some Hawaiian Chili Pepper Water on that!), & Sourdough or Multi Grain bread. I love Sourdough and it came with side of Jam. There was a slice of Pineapple and a sprig of Rosemary that made my plate smell so good. I love how they have a condiment station and also 2 Fruit Infused Water containers. One was filled with Oranges, Lime and Lemon and the other with Lemongrass and Pineapple. The "Unko" worker was so friendly and accommodating. He brought my Pineapple Juice to me from the bar and also gave me a to go container. Always a plus when the workers are all about aloha!
Our favorite meal in Maui was at Nalu's! We loved the restaurant's casual vibe and friendly, attentive service. The food and drinks were top-notch! I ordered the Ahi Club, and it was absolutely delicious with the tuna cooked to perfection. We also tried their famous Apple Brie Burger, which my son thoroughly enjoyed. The Cubano sandwich was great, but the true standout was the Island Style Ribs--they were amazing! Be sure to upgrade to the Volcano Fries; they are the bomb!
This place is absolutely worth the wait, and we waited about 20 minutes on our visit, which flew by since they also had live music. I ordered the kimchi fried rice with scrambled eggs and a side of Portuguese sausage, along with their MacNut Mocha Cold Brew special. Everything was perfect, every component of the meal delivered. The kind of breakfast that keeps you full for hours! I'll definitely be back, and the mac salad is at the top of my list for next time.

Tasted like meatloaf. The cornflake crusted French toast is a great concept with boba and it was sweet. The loco Moco was bland and the beef patty was a little tough. Staff was so friendly.
Very unique ordering system here where you have to wait in line to order and then sit down at the table. And you need to follow the same line system even if you are ordering to go. So if you want to place or take out order? I highly recommend putting in the order online and then going into pick it up. We got the Loco moco with Poached eggs and white rice. First time having a Loco Moco and I heard that this was the place to get it at, so I'm glad we got a good experience! Eggs were perfectly cooked and the entire combination of the beef and rice and eggs and pickled onions was really good together! Came with a nice macaroni salad and also some lettuce to get some veggies in, haha. Overall, there was quite a line here on a Sunday morning, so it's a good sign that this place has good food.
Enjoyed breakfast at the bar. Kelly was so nice and she made a killer lava flow. For food we split the island pancakes and the three egg omelette caprese. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the fresh pineapple, banana, and macadamia nuts on top were perfect. The omelette hit the spot and the furikake-garlic breakfast potatoes were so crispy and delicious! Nalus has friendly staff, fast service, and great portions of tasty food.
The best breakfast / brunch spot that we had in Maui! Each dish did not disappoint & we almost wished that we could visit more than once because of how delicious everything was! From the cold brew coffee w/ the cream top to the Big Kahuna Omelette, the refreshing acai bowl & ESPECIALLY the lilokoi french toast. I am going to be dreaming about that french toast... it's surprisingly not as sweet as it looks & the sweet cream on top really compliments the lilokoi filling + it barely needs any maple syrup to top. Actually so delicious!! I highly recommend and will be returning when I come back to Maui!
Great find for Hawaiian food & live music if you're staying in Kihei! The format here is a bit different from other restaurants in that you first need to line up to order and pay for your food & drinks at the host stand. You then are assigned a table and given a number to wait for your food to be brought out to you. There was a line when we arrived for dinner on a Thursday after 7pm, and we waited for about 20-30 minutes to order and get a table. Once seated at a table outside (where the music wasn't as loud), we waited for another 20-30 minutes to receive our food. It hadn't been explained to us that our drinks wouldn't be brought out to us. You have to go get them yourself at the bar. We only found this out when we asked the server who brought our food about our drinks, so our coconut mojito and Maui Brewing Pilsner had been sitting at the bar for a while. The Island Style Ribs with Respect was a great dish. The ribs had really tasty flavor, and the rice and mac salad sides hit the spot. It was enough for the 2 of us to share. We also got a side of volcano fries, which were tasty but could have been hotter. We really enjoyed the live music! The band played mostly Hawaiian music, with a few other songs mixed in. It was loud close to the speakers, and I think it'd be pretty hard to have a conversation if you were sitting there. I'd recommend bringing ear protection just in case.
Decided to check out Nalu's after seeing some nice reviews of their Mai tais and entertainment. This place is a gem. Plenty of parking, I personally love ordering right at the beginning and getting our drinks at the bar (most negative reviews on here are about this process, have y'all been to a bar? Most places do this or have you order at the bar area) so don't be distracted by anything less than 4 stars. Our food and drinks were great. Had the volcano fries, lobster roll and burger. All delicious, I was looking forward to the lobster roll the entire trip and it did not disappoint. We came during happy hour so had a couple drinks as well, great deals for a happy hour. The ambiance is nice and relaxed. Space is open with a bar and seating while the local chickens run in and out. Lastly I'll have to mention the entertainment because he made our evening. If the business page reads the reviews please give a shout out to Kenny! We were able to sit next to the stage during his set and not only is he a great musician and artist but such a warm human being. Thank you Kenny for the chat after your set, hope to see you at our next Nalu's visit.
A favorite that drew us back! We came back for happy hour for their amazing happy hour mai tai with the lilikoi foam. They were good as ever. We also decided to try the happy hour appetizers - seared ahi and crab cakes. The crab cakes were pretty good, though a bit on the dry side. The seared ahi was seared perfectly and the sauce was a great compliment. The staff was friendly as ever. We kept checking in on our drinks and the manager ended up checking for us and getting them when she noticed we were waiting. The hostess was quick in getting orders in and getting us seated as quickly as possible. The busboys were also very prompt in removing plates and checking in as well.
This place was so delicious that we were mad at ourselves for coming here the last day of our trip. Open seating area where you order before sitting, great customer service, and overall fun environment. We got the lobster roll, mahi mahi, and the pancakes and everyone's plates were empty before we left. One of the best places we ate at on the island.

Service: We loved this place so much, that we have made it our top destination to eat even coming back for dinner. They have adapted the counter- service which is quite popular on Maui and when we arrived for breakfast in the line they announced that they have seats available at the bar so we took it. The bartender was friendly and accommodating. FOOD: We ordered the Light Kine and Big Kahuna Omelette for breakfast and the omelette was infused with a tasty fried rice which was very flavorful. For dinner We ordered I thought were short ribs but they were Kalbi ribs which was prepared delicious and savory We also had the crab cake and greens and poke bowl both fresh and healthy looking. Ambiance: Open setting with piped Music in the morning and live local hawaiian music in the evening. We had a wonderful dining experience at Nalu's. The location is great, the ambiance is fantastic. Keep in mind that you order and pay at the counter first, and then you are seated to dine in. The system works smoothly! The staff was nice and friendly, and our food came out very quickly. Everything was good based on my vegetarian taste, and the prices are very decent for the quality and location. I tried the Loco Moco and it was comforting, a good try. They have live music starting around 6:00 PM, which makes the evening even better. If you're looking for a quick bite and local music, this is a good place. read more

It was my 1st time going to this restaurant. I got the heavy kine breakfast. It was so good and delicious. The service was helpful. The ambiance was different from what I'm used to at a restaurant. Can't wait to go back when my family and I are back in Maui. read more

Nalu's is my #1 favorite spot in Maui for food AND drinks. First of all, the service is top tier. I've been here many times and it always feels like home. The staff remembers you and treats you like family. They have live music every evening, and happy hour is PHENOMENAL. If you're not hungry, please at least come by for a mai tai! The foam is to die for!! I also don't think I have tried a dish here that I didn't like. The crab cakes are SO GOOD (love the salad!!) and sometimes they have a crab cakes Benedict on special that is out of this world. My daughter is a picky eater and loved this place. Mahalo for what you do!! As long as Nalu's is here, I will continue to visit Maui read more
Awesome breakfast spot, with a rocking Hawaiian-themed interior and decorations to boot! I can see why many people rave about coming here during their Maui trips, and I can see how it can definitely get packed on busy weekend or holiday mornings. The portions are massive, the food is delicious, and the service is absolutely on point. You order at the kiosk in front before taking a seat, and the staff always come around to make sure everything is taken care of. Coming here on an early weekday morning with some friends, I was able to get a taste of some of their best dishes. I got a Big Kahuna omelet, which for the size $18 seemed like it should have costed more! It was amazing, with all the hearty meats and filling kimchi fried rice. Never would I think fried rice and omelet would go in the same sentence, but here we are! A nice touch is their unlimited fruit-infused water refill station. There's 3 different flavors, and each one is very refreshing and pairs well with their food. Definitely worth visiting for a proper Hawaiian breakfast if you're in the area! read more

We've come to Nalu's South Shore Grill every year for the last three years, and it's been amazing every single time. Consistently great food, friendly service, and a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The stuffed French toast is WOW -- absolutely incredible and a must-order. Seriously one of those dishes you keep thinking about after you leave. Everything we've tried has been delicious, portions are generous, and the vibe makes it an easy favorite whenever we're in Maui. Highly recommend! read more

Mahi Mahi - overall a yummy dish just wish there was more fish. The size of fish I got was smaller than I expected. The fish was juicy and tangy which I really loved. I devoured it immediately. Also came with a side of salad and I wish I had changed the rice to Mac salad because their Mac salad is sooo good Seasoned fries with furikake: yummy fries if only it was less salty, it felt like salt was dumped on and the fries weren't mixed so all the fries at the top center but extremely salty it was difficult to enjoy. Lobster roll: the order was larger than expected and came with a side salad as well. The lobster was fresh and very flavorful. 10/10 would order this again! Short rib: very delicious but also on the saltier side. Eating it with the rice and sides helped balance out the flavor. The Mac salad was sooo good. 9/10 only because the ribs were too salty read more

I always send my hang gliding guests here when they're looking for live music and the best food on maui. I love the poke bowl- it's great that they use brown rice, just a little more healthy than the most restaurants - and I think the fish is fresh caught daily. I've seen local fishermen delivering fish here on a regular basis. Love the live music by local talent too, really sets the Hawaiian tone. They have live music every night which makes this a great place to go in the evenings for a poke bowl, beer, and music. It's definitely busy during the rush hours of breakfast and dinner, but it's busy because everyone loves this place. The service is great, the food comes out pretty quickly once you've ordered. read more
Great spot to check out when in Maui. I ordered the Lobster roll, which has plenty of lobster chunks and choice of fries or chips. Though everything else I've tried there was extremely salty. The cocktails were also very sweet. However overall cool vibes, with live music at night. read more
We got here around 7:45 on a Friday night. There was live music and a line out the restaurant waiting for a table. We waited for probably 20 minutes before getting to the front of the line and getting a table. Music had taken a break by then and we were hungry!! The service here is great, they are quick and efficient and helpful. We noticed a spot on our table was sticky and they apologized and quickly came to wipe down the whole table. The food came quickly. I ordered the root vegetable quinoa bowl an added chicken and it was very filling! Slightly spicy but satisfying. My husband and his friend ordered and split the best and classics- the loco moco and the chicken and waffles- served all day, hallelujah!! My friends wife ordered the crab cakes and greens and seemed to like her dish as well. Everything is delicious and so decently priced- you cannot beat Nalus! We got the Three Egg Caprese Omelette and Nalu's Loco Moco. Both were so unique and tasted fantastic. If you are going to Maui you need to go to Nalu's!!! Service is excellent every time I have been here. You order first choose an open table and pick up your drinks at the bar. It's overall laid back and nicely decorated inside with beautiful wood motifs. No matter what you order it will be delicious. I highly recommend the raw garden salad with shrimp if you come here for lunch or dinner. The Corn Flake French Toast is also a must try. I can go on and on, the fruit bowl comes with yogurt for only $7 and the breakfast potato's are literally to die for!!!! Forget everywhere else I would eat Nalu's for breakfast lunch and dinner. read more
If you are in Kihei....stop by Nalu's it was so Good!!! Ample parking, stand in line and order and pay then get a number and find a table. They'll bring out the food to you. **pro tip if theres seats at the bar you can sit there and order. The service was excellent, the drinks were amazing and the food!!! Damm delicious! I love that their portugese sausage is bought from a local source and homemade its delicious! The butter on the waffles was homemade...the vegetarian patty in the Nalu Loco Moco..also home made...see a pattern??? They source local and make so many home made items that are delicious! They also have live music, a bar and cocktails! Highly recommend. I might go back before I leave Maui. read more

I've been coming to Nalu's for years, and it's still one of my all-time favorite breakfast spots. My husband and I stopped in a few weeks ago for a quick breakfast, and even though I'm late posting this, it was too good not to share. I always get their French toast; honestly, I don't think I'll ever find another one that tastes this good. I'm not even a big sweets person, but theirs is perfectly balanced with the fruit and mac nuts and I have to get it. My husband got the loco moco that day. The food usually comes out pretty fast, even though they're always busy no matter what time you go. It's worth the wait every single time. You order up front, grab a table, and they bring the food out to you. I also love their fruit fused water and the whole laid-back vibe. Good music, sometimes live bands, and I've even brought my dog son with us before. Honestly, I don't have a single bad thing to say about this place. read more
Nalu's is a must-try breakfast/brunch spot on your Maui itinerary. It's also loved by Maui locals!! The line looked intimidating when we got there but to our surprise, it moved fairly quickly and we were seated within 15 minutes--super worth it for the delicious food!! String bean fries 10/10: SO GOOD!! The batter has a bit of furikake on it and they were soo crispy and flakey without being too oily. The sriracha mayo was also addictive and we even took some to-go. Ahi tuna eggs benedict 10/10: Also a hit. The english muffin was deliciously buttery and almost crispy on the top. The ahi was fresh and so soft. Even the potatoes were really well seasoned. We cleaned our plates!! We split these two dishes between two people and it was the perfect portion for us to leave with full happy bellies and head to the beach. We would love to come back and try their other dishes and acai bowls! read more
Was recommended by a friend so we dropped by. Ordered 2 sets of the fish and chips to go (one for my wife and the other for my kids). The fries and salad that it came with was great. The inside of the fish itself on this day was a bit mushy. Not sure if it's because it's take out but it wasn't that great. Will have to visit again on our next visit and try something different. It's a popular spot so I'm confident the food here is great but the fish on this day was not so good for us. Will be back to give it another shot though because our friend that recommended the spot is a foodie and anything he recommends should be a good spot. read more
