Josh was working the day we went in the Ventura store and he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful so it was pretty much a given that we'd go with them again. It took quite awhile for us to decide on the carpet color we liked so we stopped by the store a few times to pick up different samples from Josh and he was more than patient with us while we were in the "deciding phase". Once we made up our mind, he made the process so easy and quickly got our place on the install schedule. While at the store one day, we also fell in love with a beautiful vinyl that looked like tile so we purchased it to have our kitchen flooring redone. It was two different teams that worked on our flooring, one for tile and the other for carpeting, and both teams were excellent! Thank you to Josh for making this tough process so easy for us! Oh, we did do some checking around at other stores just to make sure we were getting a great deal and we didn't find anyone else who impressed us as much with his expertise and customer service and his price was more than fair! We highly recommend Flooring 101 and even though I'm sure all of their employees are great, we only worked with Josh and couldn't be happier with his service.

I had a disappointing experience with Garrett from Drapery Affair and Floor Store…read more There was first confusion about the appointment date. I had September 16 at 9:30 a.m. in my calendar, but when he did not arrive, I was told the appointment was actually scheduled for the 17th. When Garrett arrived, I asked if he would remove his shoes before walking through my home. He told me that, based on company rules and OSHA requirements, he had to keep them on because they are general contractors. I later verified that OSHA did not require that under the circumstances. I was so surprised by the response that I did not think to offer the disposable shoe covers I had available. If shoes must remain on, I would expect someone routinely entering customers' homes to carry booties. Before the appointment, I had already explained that I was specifically interested in top-down/bottom-up cellular shades, with insulation, light control, privacy, and ease of use being priorities. Despite that, a fair amount of time was spent discussing other window-covering options. There were also several operating mechanisms. Although Garrett described them, I did not feel they were demonstrated particularly clearly, and I repeatedly had to ask to see the options again. I was then expected to choose both the mechanism and the color before an accurate quote could be prepared, which felt like a lot to decide during one appointment for a whole-house project. When it was time to measure, Garrett suggested that I choose colors while he moved through the house and ADU measuring. I was not comfortable having someone I had just met walking through my home and property unaccompanied, so I went with him. Once the measuring was finished and I could focus on the samples, Garrett provided very little assistance with the color-selection process. He did not offer to hold up the swatches, compare colors, or provide much guidance, so I had to ask someone who was already working at my house to help me. While that person held the samples against the wall and I stood back to evaluate them, Garrett remained nearby on his phone and appeared disinterested and disengaged from the process. At times, he also stood uncomfortably close, which made the experience feel awkward rather than helpful. The person helping me was also present for portions of the appointment and observed some of these interactions. My overall impression was that Garrett had product knowledge, but I did not experience him as especially engaged or attentive in the consultative part of the appointment. I did not feel particularly guided through what was a fairly significant purchase. Garrett also mentioned that the business was started by his grandfather and is now run by his father and uncle. Normally, I would contact a company directly before posting a review, but given that family relationship, I did not feel that my concerns would necessarily carry much weight internally. I ultimately decided not to move forward with Drapery Affair and Floor Store and chose another company.

We recently had Timeless Floors come to our home for a quote on kitchen backsplash. Initially,…read moreJackie, an owner was pleasant to deal with. We picked out the tile, an order was placed, and waited for an install date. When the workers arrived, they were friendly and quick. One day install. Then came the issues. When I tried to reinstall the plugs and face plates, it became obvious they would not fit flush as the tile created a gap between outlet and outlet box. An employee offered a solution that did not work. When I called Timeless, they quoted me up to $450 to fix the issue. An issue they created with the install. After multiple 'heated' calls and a lot of finger pointing, they sent someone from the office to fix the problem. I actually had to research a solution and purchase the necessary parts myself! I understand construction projects can and will have issues. What sets a good company apart from a bad or mediocre company is how the problems are resolved. When I brought up our issues to Timeless, I got nothing but pushback and a condescending attitude from Felipe, a co owner. In the end, they sent someone that fixed the issues. Had they initially accepted responsibility and sent someone out, this review would not have been posted. Curious as to why Felipe, an owner, inspected the kitchen to give us a quote and never once mentioned that this may be a problem! So after the job Timeless Floors did with our backsplash, I'm rating them mediocre at best. Read all their reviews! Note after owners comment: Jackie, there was never any extra electrical work needed! The installers removed the outlets without disconnecting any wires. They were not electricians! We only asked that they be installed back as they were before the backsplash was installed. After some research, it turned out to a fairly straightforward fix but did require a specialized tool that I did not have to enlarge the opening around the outlet area. Total time Joey spent fixing it - less than an hour! And again, nothing Joey did to reinstall the outlets correctly required an electrician!!

They did a stellar job and the floors are super clean. Communication was great and everything went well. The insurance company paid for the job, so I'm not certain what the costs were. They did pull some paint off a door where they taped up some protective plastic sheeting. I'll contact my GC to have that resolved.

Shows up one hour past the scheduled time...it happens, I understand, but maybe you should at least apologize and give me a heads up? Apologizing after I call you out is not comforting. Very nice in person, Takes measurements and discusses. This was a Friday, so I understand we might not get the estimate soon. I'm told, if not this weekend, I'll get it to you by Monday eod. No worries, that's reasonable. Heck, it can be any day, just do what you promise. Monday nothing. Tuesday nothing. Call Wednesday. Says I'm really busy, No apology until I call them out on what they promised. I didn't set the expectation, they did. I tell them, if we don't even have a contract and you're being like this, what am I to expect? Next day, I get a text about the room to be done, is it upstairs or downstairs, and the bathroom, is it being done? I'm totally confused, we never spoke about a bathroom and the room is upstairs. I get the quote finally. It's ~$30k more than another quote I got from a 5 star Yelp business. WTH. Looking deeper into the quote, it's talking about terracota tile and grout...we never spoke about that, we spoke what I already have downstairs, which is laminate. They even stated, that's a manufactured piece we can't get anymore but we can get something close to match. Don't always believe Yelp reviews, but I'd believe this one.

The job included baseboards, with painting and caulking. They left an entire wall under the heating unit completely unfinished. They decided the transition piece for the utility closet was not worth cutting properly. Please refer to the photos and video. Beyond bad. And customer service? No interest in addressing the issue...just getting paid. BTW...the job was over $8000 and I withheld just over $1000 to address unfinished baseboards and cleaning. (Cleaning was $425)

Our handyman contractor recommended this resource for buying the new flooring materials. It was a bit overwhelming when we first entered the showroom, but we received orientation as to the options and where to find each. Though we originally went in thinking of engineered hardwood, like we have upstairs, with the water considerations, especially in the kitchen, we are thinking of new generation laminate. It's easy to install, and has great waterproof functionality. It has texture and varied pattern, too. We're just about ready to finalize our measurements and place the order. Their prices are extremely competitive and many styles are in stock for immediate availability. Tony has been very helpful getting us up to speed on this big purchase.
