I am a Property Manager, Real Estate Broker, and I handle/supervise many rental and property renovations. I am in the process right now of one. The contractor that I use chose Flooring 101 to order the new vinyl flooring and he asked me for a check last week. I wrote a check for the full amount on Aug 7. Yesterday Flooring 101 said the material was ready for pick up, but when he got there, they would not release the material as they said the check had not cleared. My guy called me and told me they wanted me to come in and pay with a credit card and stop payment on the check. I said ok, but I called the bank and they said the check had cleared on Aug 8. I went to Flooring 101 and told them what my bank said, and they said it didn't matter, as they had not received the money yet. I asked them to call their bank and check and they refused. I then went to my bank and asked if I could get any kind of proof the check had cleared, and they gave me a copy of the cancelled check and the back of the check showing the money was received by their bank. The banker wrote on the copy of the checks verifying this statement. I took it back to Flooring 101 and they still refused to release the material. We had 4 guys hired for that day to do the work. This is outrageous! I, personally, will never do business with them again, I don't care if the stuff is free. Competition is the name of the game, and to treat loyal customers like this is insane and absurd. BAD company!!! This is NO WAY to do business! They should have notified us when we gave them the check there may be a hold, and a credit card would be better. We thought we were doing them the favor of a check, saving the card fee. They had many opportunities to make us aware of this, what they called, "a transitional period" in their business, which took place between when we paid for the material and the day they called us for pick up...5 days later. I am so mad at them!!! Now they have caused a delay which may lose us a months rent as the rental will not be ready, due to them. read more

I purchased through Costco to replace the floors throughout the house in two separate occasions. First job (bottom floor): I was satisfied with the customer service as well as the removal and installation. Second job (upstairs): Poor customer service and terrible job. The job was scheduled to start on a Wednesday between 8am-10am, the time and date were confirmed with Jessica. On the day of the install I waited until 11am before calling Flooring 101 to ask for the ETA of the crew. I had to call several times to follow up (instead of Flooring 101 calling to provide a status) and was told by Johnny the crew was coming. Turns out the crew doesn't show up. I receive a call late in the afternoon from Jessica to apologize and am told a crew will come Thursday morning. To make a long story short crew (Axel and 2 other males) comes and begins work. During the demo, tiles are flying and hitting my brand new TV. During the install the crew has issues with the stairs - it takes 1 person 3.5 days to finish. After the install They didn't want to put my toilets back (their arugument was that they weren't plumbers) There was adhesive tracked through out the house Uneven areas in the hallway My front garden is trashed with saw dust and pieces of the flooring/ stair noses The stairs are inconsistent. The bottom step was shaped like a 90 degree angle, but other steps are curved Stair faces are not glued in and their are gaps between the wall and the edge of the material Tons of nail holes on the stair noses I complained and Flooring 101 sent 2 different people back. The first person was shocked at the pure shit job and took pictures. The second crew came (Jose), saw the work that was done and also thought it was a shit job. Jose and his crew did a good job, however he was only able to correct a portion of the steps due to not having enough material available so there's still a handful of areas to fix. The correction would require redoing the entire top floor according to Jose. Overall highly dissatisfied with the amount of money spent on poor workmanship. read more

James was our rep and he was helpful and engaging. He offered excellent advice, showed us their handy online tool so you get an idea of what the floors will look like in your home, and got us a package and program we could afford through Costco. Attention to detail for the hard to please homeowner. Yes, that is who we are. Whenever you start a remodel you hope that you did your due diligence. That you checked all the reviews and had a few companies come for interviews. You start out with a budget, get some estimates but in the end doing it right the first time is also a priority. Though you don't know us, we can honestly say we have no problem in referring this company to anyone who asks. From the very beginning of our job the companies Flooring 101 and Serrano's Flooring and their staff guidance through the process of selecting the finish we were looking for. From deciding on the type of wood flooring we needed, the color, the design of the baseboards and the finishing of the thresholds. We were removing 20 year old marble floors and 10 year old carpet. Most of the furniture was moved to the garage and the furniture left in our home were covered with plastic and placed on risers. The cabinets and pantry were covered with plastic. Though r The work began on time and with a crew of 6 the house was transformed quickly. As I checked on their work periodically they were never daunted by my questions. They gave me full explanations as to the best way to handle the finishing touches. If something had to be done over (which was rare) they did it quickly without complaint. I'm writing to revise my previous review. I wrote that I hadn't received a quote after waiting 20 days. Correction, I was e-mailed a quote on 21 April--16 days after the estimate. I've since received multiple phone calls and apologies from the Flooring Specialist who came out to measure. I appreciate his follow up and accept his apologies. I was a repeat customer with Flooring 101, because they'd installed flooring in my rental home January of 2020 and did a great job in a timely manner. Based upon Flooring 101's follow up with me I would recommend them and do business with them again. Got carpet a few years back and it needed constant repair, hard to get people out to come re stretch, thought we would give them another chance & put in waterproof floors throughout house, the installers who put in were amazing but missed a few spots, & had some touch up repair areas.....we called, called, nobody would call back, my husband called the manager at the Oxnard store and he promised they would fix and get this handled asap. Nope over 2 weeks nothing but they charged our credit card the the rest of my bill without authorization & floor still has missing areas, and not to mention left us with no left over flooring incase we need repair in the future.....we saw 2 packages left over.......won't ever call them back. read more

Finally I got my stuff but he was to suppost to give me credit back to my account but he never did. Still waiting for the stairs to be redone & reimbursement if $450, The stairs I can feel the wood under my feet and see thru holes on the edges.and I paid for the thickest padding they had... Paid over $7k upfront bad mistake,. No one should experince this. I recently mailed a certified letter it came back refused to sign. It's a circus behind the seens You can call me better yet use this info to go elsewhere. In February I was recently acknowledged by not only the owner but by Johnny of flooring 101 both have taken corrective steps to make my home remodeling a positive experience they will be not only refunding me $450 for another contractor extra expenses but will be sending a crew " more than one person " this week March 9 to redo my stairs They will also touch up on the hard wood flooring and throwing in a box or two at no cost... Johnny was able to represent 101 flooring in a positive way that made it clear and transparent . This has been and ongoing nightmare. The install crew buried my tv cable under the floor, then when I said to the inspector that this had happened he sent me a letter telling me that noway was it under the floor. I know that it is and the gentleman that sold me the flooring knows that it is.This whole install has been a mess. The crew damaged a cabinet drawer front. I asked them to replace it they agreed. I had to buy and install it myself. I called Andrea everyday sometimes twice a day as she was the letter writer and was told that she would call back NEVER happened. I finally got hold of Saul and said that I want a break on the price as this has been going on since mid Sept. 2021.. THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I had one of the worst in-home sales experiences I have ever had with this company for any home-improvement and I've owned a home since 1998. Employees and sales people are the face of the brand. James came to our house. It was bad enough that he had a very uncomfortable way about him. He literally just stared at me blankly when introducing himself. It felt very uncomfortable. He asked literally no questions about what we were looking for in terms of color, style, price, or the range of other questions I might ask to gauge a potential customer's interest. Instead, he simply slapped down a number of sample swatches on the floor. All of which were way darker than I would ever consider. He kept going out to his vehicle to bring in more. Hmmmm. Should I trust someone that encourages me to simply lay wood down over my existing flooring? Why would I want to do that? He stressed how much money it would save. He didn't ask enough questions because saving three dollars a square foot was not really concerning to me. I want to job done right. He measured and then quoted a price that was literally two times the amount I was previously quoted for high-end wood flooring for a laminate flooring. Why would I pay two times retail for laminate when I can have wood? This isn't the worst part. James asked if he could use the restroom. He did. About a half hour after he left our home, I heard water running and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. More time passed...... finally I go into the bathroom and it's so steamed up in there it's like a sauna. I couldn't figure out ---was it the toilet? what was it? Well it wasn't the toilet, he left the hot water on full blast. In fact it was on for so long the mirror was steamed over.....In a drought. To make matters worse the restroom smelled terribly. I'm not sure what happened there???? In fact at least 30 to 60 minutes later it still smelled----that way. By the way, in the "interaction" he kept stressing that certain choices were in stock and those were less money. Is this not a store that can order what a customer wants? And maybe next time you should find out how much price is a factor in a customers decision? Saving two dollars a square foot because it's not in stock in your store is not really a driver in this decision. His card says consultant. We received absolutely no advice or consultation from him. Nothing on the advantages or disadvantages of different choices. Even if he was giving me flooring at a dollar a square foot I would not have bought from this guy. So in the end James must have concluded that shelling out over $20,000 would be a problem for us and started suggesting the financing program. He even made a special trip to the car to get the application. I'm prepared to pay cash for this, so again, poor needs assessment. At this point I was so ready for this interaction to be over I told him we would think about it. Now I'm not only really put off by this experience with 101 flooring, I am disappointed with Costco. The reason I got hooked up with this outfit In the first place is that I called Costco - why? I anticipated they would align themselves with the Premier company in the area. Boy was I wrong. My advice for 101 flooring: If you're going to represent Costco you better send somebody out that presents well, knows what they're doing, and can connect with people, ask questions and recommend product. My feeling on this... it's not James. But I'm guessing you send out your best people to handle the Glen-Garry leads- If that's true -warning to all. read more
