The initial person that I was speaking with, Cameron, was great but unfortunately he left for another job and my project went sideways after. The installers did the best they could but there was zero follow up and there were gaps in the runner of where the closet door used to be-where the room meets the closet space. I took pictures of the lifting carpet and showed that it wasn't done correctly and sent it to my contact person. Somebody finally came out weeks later and said that it could be fixed but they needed more material. They left and I have yet to hear anything from anyone. it's been over a month and I sent another email a week ago with zero response. I spent a lot of money and was very flexible with my schedule and my carpet isn't installed correctly. read more

I had Gilbert come down to do an estimate and when he got to my house his measurement tool wasn't working . So he rescheduled and said it was the battery's and then he made another appointment to come down when his measuring tool was working and he canceled again saying "I was exposed to one of my workers that tested positive for corona virus." I was happy he told me and then I went down couple days later to go into the store to see the products even though I didn't get measurements yet. I then see him inside working , he then comes Out and said he doesn't think he has it . I left right away because he said he was exposed to it unless maybe he just doesn't want my business. When I was leaving he mentioned he can't do measurement still because he's going on vacation. Either way I find this really odd that I can't get measurements. They fixed the flooring that was not complete and were nice and professional when doing so.

We looked for quite a while when looking for new engineered hardwood flooring and finally decided on Meritage Knotty Barrel Oak. We worked with Josh and he took really good care of us. We had to order it and it took some time to get it in. When they came to install it, the installers found that we had an asbestos issue with our old flooring.so we had to wait until that issue was taken care of. We finally got our new floors installed and the installers dis a wonderful job. The floor looks beautiful! It was a pleasure working with Josh and although it took quite a while to get the floors installed, we are very pleased with our experience with Flooring 101. Thanks Josh! read more

Had them install a laminate floor probably 7 years ago, it was a good experience. So when I moved I went back for them to install carpet in the bedrooms and vinyl plank to install myself. Huge mistake. Salesman was knowledgeable but... so many things I won't get into but basically he gave half truths to hook us ‍ that's sales I guess. So whatever at least we're getting the floors we want. Carpet installers were a giant cluster. They started installing the wrong material and left without a word, leaving our carpet in the gutter. Literally. In the gutter. No word from them or Flooring 101 on when they'd be back. Called the store and got a run around. Finally got connected to someone who said they'd be back around 4 pm. Whatever, at least we'll get the floors we want. They show up after 7. And do the worst carpet install I've ever seen. I'm not a carpet guy so forgive me if the lingo is off, but the tack strips are crooked and not aligned properly under the door. Way off. Called to get it fixed. Took a week. We had to move in to avoid paying rent at the old place for an extra month. Had to install the vinyl plank because... we're moving in. Carpet installer shows up to fix things and says I shouldn't have installed the plank. Installer shows me that the plank is in the wrong place under the jamb. WHICH IS BECAUSE HE PUT THE CARPET IN THE WRONG PLACE UNDER THE JAMB AND I COULDT PUT IT WHERE IT SHOULD BE. He fixed two of the doors but didn't put padding under the carpet he stretched out. Notice it every time I walk into my bedroom. Where do I stop? Had more issues with the sales team, general don't give a shit attitude on all fronts after I spent over $6k with them. Maybe they could have done more to fix it but after their attitude and arrogance I'm done. I learned my lesson, Flooring is a trade worth paying someone to do correctly instead of going with the lowest bidder. I will do everything I can to make sure anyone who needs a floor avoids Flooring 101. read more

Unfortunately I had some flooring issues, and she was dealing with supply issues which lead me to call on a general construction contractor instead. My husband and I had hardwood floors installed. Everything started out great with Cameron. One thing I kept asking Cameron during our initial visit is if the wood floor can but against our tile. I didn't want to di it if I had to have a transition. He assured us it could and there is a sample on their showroom floor. Cameron did the measuring at our home and again confirmed the flooring could be laid next to the tile. I won't get into the fiasco of getting the flooring delivered to acclimate but needless to say, Jessica at Flooring 101 is a superstar. She was able to have it delivered before we went out of town. On to the day of installation, the installer arrived around 10:00 am Friday morning and told me that he forgot some tool or machine and asked if it was OK if he came back Saturday morning around 7:45 to install the flooring. What else could I say, but yes since I wanted my floors done. After moving furniture all over the house and ripping my carpet out, the installer proceeded to tell me I needed to put in a transition. I'll shorten the review, my husband and I said no, told ghem to pick up the wood, it couldn't be picked up because the manufacturer wouldn't take it back, Cameron contacted another installer who said it could be done and he installed it. So this is my opinion if you want to use Flooring 101 for wood floors. Work with Jessica, she is 5 stars, request Javier, he is 5 stars, Cameron is a good salesperson but isn't good at follow up or returning phone calls so I will give him 2 1/2 stars. As far as the cost, they were a little higher than other places. I'm not sure we will use them again. read more

Bill Seale worked with us extensively to ensure we got the right wood laminate we were after; fielding many questions and double checking details to confirm the items we inquired about. He made several marvelous recommendations that turned out to be just beautiful for the final look. We could not be happier. Bill is also an artist so has that unique artistic temperament.....if at first you feel he's a bit moody, just remember, the genius is there beneath the feisty exterior awaiting discovery. He's really a big wonderful teddy bear in the end. Highly recommend! We were re-flooring our factory's showroom and office which was a big project for us. It really felt like Bill was a true partner in the journey. And it was fun to celebrate the final outcome with him as well. We got the Armstrong Architectural Remnants wood laminate Woodland Reclaim/Textured Timbers - Old Original/Warm Character L3102. There was some confusion from Armstrong about the difference between the L3101 and L3102. Bill researched it and got the right answer for us. He also recommended the amazing underlayment. We haven't had a single squeak when walking on this floor. Really plush. The laminate itself is extremely durable. read more

Flooring 101 has been the place I rely on for all types of flooring for many years. Back in 1980, when I needed carpet in my first home, it was Jimmy, the owner, who installed it for me! The business now has 4 stores across Ventura County, and it still provides service like it was a mom and pop operation! The staff I have delt with over the years always treat me like their best customer. I have picked up a few rentals over the years, and Flooring 101 has given me great service and great linoleum and carpets at an affordable price. If you are on a tight budget, you can try the Oxnard store, where you can pick up remnants at very reduced prices. They are usually able to set up installation in just a few days. The last time I wanted flooring put in so I could show my rental, they had it installed witin 3 days! And I have never had any problems with the quality of the materials or installations. read more

However Roman listened very carefully to my criteria and pointed me in the direction of half a dozen possibilities. He then sent me home with samples - not just itty-bitty squares like the first place - but great big slabs of flooring! Once home it was easy to see which one was my favourite. Roman ensured that he gave me a price to love! and we figured out the optimum time for ordering. I had an exceptional experience with the Ventura (Main Street) location of Flooring 101. I had contacted a few other flooring specialty places as well as the larger home improvement places who provide flooring products and installation (such as Lowes and Home Depot), but they weren't willing (not unable...but unwilling) to provide the specific installation and add-on services I wanted and needed. Truthfully, they weren't very customer friendly about it, either. A friend suggested I contact the Ventura (Main Street location) of Flooring 101; and from the minute I spoke to Josh Guzman, I knew that I was in the best of hands. He told me that if they didn't have the specific product I was hoping for, that he would get it for me and that he would ensure that everything I wanted or needed (including a couple add-on services) was handled from start to finish. He even gave me his cell phone number in the event that I felt that I needed to speak with him right away about something. He ended up having to special order the product I wanted and kept me apprised the entire time of when the product was scheduled to come in as well as an installation date. Every one of his promises, from start to finish, was carried out exactly as promised and with the most friendly and caring attitude. The installation was done yesterday, as scheduled.
