All this time later, I unfortunately cannot complete this flight and asked if I could get a refund. The answer was no, the policy is that these flights are non-refundable. No exceptions. I asked if they can be transferred to someone else. Answer? No, they can't. I will have to forfeit my payment in full. So if I don't actually go into the system to cancel, then Harbour Air cannot sell those seats to anyone else either unless it is very last minute when I don't show up. How does this make sense to their business model? (I could easily make changes to the hotel I booked on Salt Spring Island, and they were very willing to help me.) The competition is right next door with Seair Seaplanes.

Helijet is nice and fast too, but you get bigger windows to observe Beautiful British Columbia from the sky on Harbour Air! === 2. SERVICE I purchased a goGOLD return ticket between Richmond and Victoria and the process was easy online. This being my first flight with Harbour Air, I was unsure how to select seats but an e-mail to the company was quickly and professionally replied to and within 30 mins, I had my desired seat. When struggling to get to the terminal 30 mins before my flight, a call to customer service yielded another courteous and professional response and fears allayed. Check-in was also professional and before you know it, it was time to boarded, aided by yet two more professional young folks. === 3. FLIGHT Mick was the pilot on this flight - always good to have an Aussie with a relaxed attitude fly your plane. It's clearly an older aircraft but it's clean and if you're not too large (a larger fellow well over 6', 250lbs had some challenges fitting in the middle) the available legroom should be able to accommodate you. It seats about 11 passengers and your carry-ons are placed in the back by the pilot upon boarding. Tip 1: you can sit in the co-pilot's seat on the single-engine aircraft - just ask nicely and depending on the pilot, they may let you! Tip 2: if you book a goGOLD ticket, you can get advance seat selection. The left side of the aircraft has single seats while the right side as two seats (side-by-side) - it's more comfortable seated on the left side naturally. You watch a two-minute safety video via iPad placed at the front and then you're on your way! The flight is 30 minutes or less between Vancouver and Victoria and it features great views from below 5,000ft for the entire journey. Earplugs are available for those sensitive to louder noises (like the main propeller). === 4. TERMINAL It's an older building and it's adjacent to The Flying Beaver pub/restaurant (in fact the restrooms, should you need them, are in the restaurant). There are three or four check-in counter spots, plenty of gifts and company-branded merchandise on display. However there is a leather bench and some leather chairs close to the entrance, alongside the complimentary coffee, tea, water, fruit, earplugs, and in this location: pastries! (Not all locations have pastries available.)

Then Porter told me that "the prices has changed" and that I now had to either pay an additional $800 or cancel the flight -- even though I had already paid in full and received confirmation (both on my receipt and on email) I had also already booked a non-refundable hotel (because I got the confirmation from my flight)! I spent HOURS n the phone with customer service, and not a single person took responsibility. The staff were rude, unhelpful, and dismissive, repeatedly saying that I "had no choice." This is not how a legitimate airline should treat customers. It feels deceptive and unethical. I will never book with Porter again and I strongly recommend others avoid them, especially for international flights.

I also had enough points to have us fly first class on all 4 flights. Alaska gate service was consistently helpful and friendly, while there was some variation with inflight service. We were a little surprised with 3 of the flights in that it really wasn't a first class experience. It wasn't bad either, just meh. The stellar exception was the Stewardess on the YVR - SEA leg. She was fun, welcoming, and fun, all within this very short period of time. And we were also served! It's important to be seen, and this Alaska staff person went beyond that, for which we are very appreciative.

first time flying ana and it was such a pleasant surprise from the get go. before the counters even…read moreopened, all the staff lined up ceremoniously in front, and one spokeperson stepped forward to thank all the passengers fir their business, waiting in line. then, they all bowed in unison. such a simple, thoughtful gesture, it made for a very good impression, it set the tone for the rest of the experience. even the passengers were on their best behaviour, no one rushed the gate, and everyone waited patiently for their boarding group to be called. unheard of! news flash: the 787-9 has bidets. yes, in economy. the washroom was clean, not claustrophobic, and even had a half-length mirror. little things, but they add up. normally on a long flight, or any flight at all, i would try and avoid going to the toilets on an aircraft. in economy, we were offered two meal options, which were already shown on the ana app, which came with a soft roll, garden salad, cream crackers, and potato salad, and get this, real cutlery. the food was just meh, but we were definitely well fed. ana clearly caters to dietary restrictions and you can even upgrade your meal ahead of time for an extra fee. the seats were surprisingly roomy, no knees to the back, no elbows in the ribs, and the person in front could recline without invading your space. we were given headsets for the inflight entertainment, a pillow, and a blanket, and the cabin crew were super attentive. the pilot got us to our destination safely and on time, what more can you ask for (maybe an upgrade to business class)? a few hours before landing, we got a light meal with a tuna sandwich roll (not a fan of this). the flight was about 70% full, takeoff and landing were smooth, and overall, it was a really chill, enjoyable flight. ana is definitely my first airline of choice, when flying to japan.

Another thing their utensils is not plastic compared to others; they give spoon, fork, knife and chopsticks. I enjoyed the food and had a good experience, spacious seating, have leg rest which short people like me appreciate much, updated movie lists and I even like the quality of their blanket. Oh well, I had a good flight with Nippon Air and yes I recommend them and will choose them in the future again if I get the chance.

With Covid-19, of course, everything had to be cancelled, and the level of attentiveness and service just got better after everything else fell apart. They even negotiated partial refunds on the hotel and flights for those in our group who had not purchased travel insurance. I'm sure they were losing all kinds of money, but they put customers first. If I ever get to travel again, Ellison will be my agency, even if I would normally just book everything myself.
