After navigating the maze to customs (typical), while absorbing a bit of the cultureI arrived to a surprisingly calm, low stress process to baggage. I walked right up to a customs kiosk, chose my preferred language, answered the typical questions, snapped a pic and received a slip of paper. That paper went to an officer and I was on my way. No fuzz, no language barriers, no targeted "intimidation intending"!interrogation, no stare downs...can you tell I've recently been to Germany? Just peace, and honesty, it looked to be that way for most everyone who passed through. Our return trip to Houston I was reminded that as a country, we've pissed Canada off. My husband was randomly selected for additional screening...okay, but then my bag was super searched. The same one with the same items I've carried to 6+ other countries in the last couple of years

There was plenty of seats available, it was very clean, and there was an extensive selection of food and beverage stores in the E gates. The directions were very clear, and all the staff were very friendly and willing to help. The lines at security and customs and immigration were very short. The Wi-Fi there was free and very fast. Overall, this is an excellent airport: it considerably exceeded my expectations, and I would go out of my way to fly through YVR again.

A quiet and small terminal off of the main airport. It's much more relaxed here and much less…read morepeople. Pacific Coastal operates out of this terminal to remote areas in BC, and various fishing lodges have chartered flights from here. The departure and arrival areas is pretty much one section. The baggage carousel is right by where you board. I take Pacific Coastal flights, and there's no security screening to go through, you just go out to the tarmac and board the plane from there. Unfortunately there's not many food options. There's only a cafe located at this terminal and you'll have to go out pretty far to find actual food. Service is fast since there's virtually no people. You can just go at the required arrival time and you should be fine. The building is very small and it's impossible to get lost as it's just one big hallway. Bathrooms are located on one side of the building. There's a shuttle that goes to and from the terminal but otherwise you'll have to take a taxi or Uber to get there. It can take quite a bit of time to go between terminals.

The terminal was nice and clean and orderly. I was disappointed in the taxi service: there was nothing in sight and I had to call get a cab, seems strange for an airport terminal to have no taxi waiting around at all, I waited for about 15 minutes to get out of there after collecting my items.

In YVR, you are able to clear US customs, so you do not need to go through the process when you arrive back in the US. This can be a good or bad thing, depending on how much connecting time you have. It was an issue when I had a delayed domestic flight that arrived with less than 20 minutes before the last flight back to Seattle was about to leave. Fortunately, I was able to catch it despite having to go through customs. Recently, I took a flight from Bangkok to Vancouver on Air Canada, which is the only airline flying from Thailand to North America. The flight left in the morning so I had to get to the airport really early. Check-in was fine and not crowded as the airline only operated this flight. The in-flight experience was so-so. The Dreamliner economy seats were uncomfortable and I felt miserable for much of the 13-hour flight as I was recovering from a trip illness. The in-flight entertainment and meal were decent. I had a basil chicken meal, which seemed to be catered by Bangkok Air Catering, which provided me my last tastes of Thailand. My connecting flight back to Seattle was pretty unpleasant as I was very tired and sat all the way in the back of the plane. Fortunately, the flight was only an hour long. Not a big fan of flying on Air Canada. I will say they are fine for the most part when there are no issues. It is just when there is a flight delay which is often or when you are feeling unwell, that the flight experience can be pretty unpleasant.

I was not expecting much, especially from Air Canada. But my recent trip, C98HIF, was more than decent. From selecting flights, to confirming, to online check-ins a few hours before, to the gates and boarding, I was surprised it was seamless. I didn't have a single issue. Is this right?! I didn't encounter something irritable. The agents at the gate and flight attendants were ok and helpful. I like that they are wearing nice flight attendants uniform, and pins. I hope this is back permanently. It show's professionalism. Distinguishes them from those working in the fast food industry wearing sloppy uniform. The seats were as comfortable as they can be. I'm in the middle of two other passengers but it was ok. The onboard flight entertainment is nice and easy to navigate. I enrolled in the Aeroplan. I also liked the free wifi. Gone were the days we turned our devices off and out of touch while airborne. On my return flight the plane was big and seems new. I did envy the passengers at the premium business class. I researched Air Canada doesn't have first class. I want to try that the next time. My carry on was slightly larger so the agent asked to check it in. I was worried as last time I checked in I lost a luggage (different airline). But the agent was polite and explained everything clearly to eliminate my worry. I got it fast at my destination without issues. Overall, the experience was unexpectedly, pleasant! Sure is not in line with the negative news about Air Canada you hear constantly on TV. One thing would put the cherry on top, is if the flight attendants and agents smiled, like the old days. Of course, this can only happen if they are truly enjoying their jobs. It's the only reason why I withheld one star. But I'm sure it will get there! Routing for this airline to succeed! Great job!!!

There is a military feel to this airport as the original hanger built for WWII airplanes still exist. Also, you will see some Canadian Air Force roundels used inside the airport. My main complaint is that the washroom is way too small - too few urinals for the 5th busiest airport in Canada. I never had to wait in line to pee until now.

So long that someone had to direct us to another security gate. All international flights fly out of Gate D. I was heading to Paris at that time. So definitely flying out of gate D. Gate D has better lounges. This is always the case at any airport. Even the AC lounge here has a chef cooking food on the spot. There is much more to see at the international departure side. The duty free section is way bigger and there are two duty free shops at Gate D.

The flight Center is a good walk from the street so give yourself enough time to walk there. The center is super organised. Very helpful staff. The only problem is it gets overcrowded inside the building so if you go outside you aren't going to hear the announcements. Even inside the announcement is very quiet so you have to keep your eye on the screen. Boarding the airplane was interesting for me to see people have a normal size suitcase. My daughter said when they were getting ready to take off the pilot kept circling the airplane for some reason so she felt sea sick. Once they took off it was beautiful view. Within 40 minutes they landed in Seattle. So not bad at all if you are rushing to go home. Let me know your experience please with the flight :-)
