There's a lot of space for them to ride their scooters; the playground itself is big and beautiful with multiple slides and great flower theming. The best part, though, is the ant hill that they build into the park. My kids love it because it is a literal hill that you use cardboard boxes to slide down. This was the highlight for them, and they spent most of their time just sliding down and having a blast with cardboard boxes. I live in North Hollywood, so this was a drive, but it was worth it so that my kids could have a blast, which they did. This park is at the top of our list!

(I was a volunteer in installing Windows software, as well as teaching some classes and organizing the classes). Note: Some classes require a fee. And special holiday/occasions/acts are constantly on the schedule. Various Travel tours crop up. Food in cafeteria has improved quite a bit since the new chef arrived on the scene some months ago, and for $4 a meal, it's pretty good. You do need to sign up. Only comment is that I wish it was start at 11:30 as all the literature states, not 11:40+. One other comment is that I wish the 'next month' Gazette would show up around the last 2 days of the month, instead of having to wait until the actual month itself starts. Location is excellent with the TO Library on one side, and Teen Center on the other. And behind Goebel and Library are parks that also have special scheduled activities or for picnic. I highly recommend that if you are live around this area, come in and pick up a brochure on what activities there are.

From the beginning, the administration frequently spoke about "partnering with families" and "supporting every child," but our experience revealed these to be nothing more than well-rehearsed talking points. When real concerns arise--particularly when it comes to your child's individual needs--you quickly find that your voice as a parent is dismissed. The Head of School and Principal may smile and nod, but in practice, they act as though they know your child better than you do and are unwilling to make any meaningful changes that could actually help. There is also a serious lack of consistency at this school. Teacher turnover is high, and it's hard for students to build any real stability with constantly changing staff. In fact, most families tend to leave after preschool or first grade, and that speaks volumes about the experience many have here. Rather than address these retention issues, the school seems more focused on maintaining strong ties with families who are heavy donors--families who often seem to get preferential treatment and can pay their way into getting what they want. To make matters worse, the school appears more concerned with building a new gym than fixing the areas that truly need attention. Classrooms, curriculum, and student resources are outdated or lacking, yet fundraising efforts are aggressively geared toward facilities and image. It's hard to watch tuition dollars and donations go toward expansion projects while core needs are neglected. What made this situation even more infuriating was the transition to a new school. Once we left, we realized just how far behind our child was academically. After being assured for years that this school offered a higher standard of education, we were devastated to find out that was far from the truth. It felt like everything we had invested--financially and emotionally--was for nothing. Many and I mean many families when leaving Hillcrest will home school or go to another school and the first thing they say is I should've done it sooner!! This school promotes a beautiful mission on paper, but in practice, it falls far short. Unless you're part of the "inner circle" or a major donor, true partnership and support are unlikely.

It truly feels like an extended family. We loved Miss Lorraine and Miss Michelle when they were directors and we love Miss Jacqueline who is the current director. So considerate, loving, and happy. Our kids were so blessed to be with Ms Elba (toddler class), Ms Angela and Ms Ozma (2's), Ms Debra (no longer there), Ms Lorraine, and Miss Bri (3's), Ms Rosadah (pre-k, but no longer there) and Ms Frances (kinder). I also need to mention Ms Evelyn because she's loved our girls even though she never directly taught them. I could not speak highly enough of these teachers. They are more than teachers. The guidance and love they showed our kids - It's something I will remember for the rest of my life. Honestly I can't even formulate words to express my admiration for them and gratitude. Truly phenomenal people who are a gift to this world. I am not typically an emotional person but I have been an emotional wreck the past month or so leading up to our girls' graduations. Leaving LSM and these teachers was so incredibly hard and something I am still trying to come to terms with. Our girls love them tremendously and I have the hardest time feeling like our next "big kid school" will even match this experience. I wish they went through elementary school - We wouldn't even think twice of running back!

Just as I experienced last year, I was warmly welcomed by everyone, especially the ladies who dedicate their time to organizing and managing the gatherings. Their kindness, patience, and hospitality created an atmosphere in which visitors genuinely feel included and valued. One of the reasons I wanted to update my review is that I noticed the feedback I shared last year appears to have been taken seriously. I had expressed my hope that prayers and awareness would also be extended to Muslims suffering around the world, particularly those facing war, oppression, and humanitarian crises. This year, I was genuinely pleased to see the resident Maulana encourage the congregation to remember oppressed communities in their duas. There was also information displayed about charitable initiatives supporting those in need, reinforcing the importance of compassion beyond our own community. Whether my feedback contributed or not, I truly appreciated seeing this emphasis. Despite the large crowds on the nights of the 9th and 10th of Muharram, the organization was exceptional. The event was well managed, volunteers remained calm and respectful, and there was a clear sense of decorum throughout the mosque. The atmosphere reflected dignity, patience, and mutual respect, even with the large number of attendees. I also appreciated the diversity within the congregation. People from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds came together in the spirit of Imam Hussain (AS), creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that truly reflected the universal message of Karbala. The resident Maulana's lectures were another highlight. Each evening's topic was thoughtfully chosen and developed with clarity before being beautifully connected to the lessons of Karbala. His delivery was sincere, respectful, and intellectually engaging without ever feeling theatrical or sensationalized. He spoke with humility, kindness, and compassion, making the message accessible and meaningful. The transition into the masaib was natural and heartfelt, and his recitation of the nohas added to the spiritual atmosphere without becoming overly dramatic. The entire majlis was conducted with reverence and dignity, allowing attendees to reflect on the significance of these sacred nights. Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, and community members for creating such a welcoming environment. This mosque continues to demonstrate that meaningful leadership is reflected not only through knowledgeable lectures but also through humility, inclusivity, thoughtful organization, and genuine care for the community. I look forward to returning, Insha'Allah.

Three or four deputies came to the accident site and started drawing lines marking my vehicles location as well as the other drivers cars location. Then they proceed by taking pictures and interviewing witnesses. While all this was happening, a female deputies was chatting with the other party's father and I could hear them laughing. I'm not sure what kind of relationship they had but she wrote the report to their favor. When I called to see if the report was ready, I was told that I had to call back because the report was not done. I had hired an attorney and much to my surprise, we found out that The other party had the report when I called to see if the report was ready. Finally, after getting the report I was shocked to read that since there were no pictures and no witnesses, they were not able to determine who was at fault. These deputies are good in writing tickets to get promoted. They don't deserve the money that they get paid by our tax dollars.
