Can't say enough good about this place. Broke down on way to shore and had to pick a spot for the tow truck to take it on a Saturday. Saw the good reviews and that it was in OC, had it dropped there when it was closed. Left a message and got a call back right at opening and the owner had already ordered a part to fix it. !!! He had part delivered and the car done in 2 days. He ran extra tests to make sure that it was safe to drive home. The day before we were due to hit the highway and head home from OC, my tire light went on. Gave these guys a call and they told me come right over. Despite having other cars that they were working on, they checked it out right away. Inside of 15 minutes they had found a nail causing the issue and plugged the hole. Only cost me $25. John at Island Auto has helped us keep our van going when we were ready to throw in the towel on it. We first had the alternator go out. We had it towed to Boardwalk Honda where we were told it was going to cost $1600. We knew that was way high so we ended up towing it (again) to Island Auto on a recommendation. I am from out of town (California) and was passing through while on our performing arts theatre tour. We had our brakes grinding and squeaking on our Ford Transit 350, so I drove it over that morning and they took my van in without an appointment to help me out. This place is absolutely wonderful!! Fantastic! I called to get my blinker fixed and they said come on over! (Usually they make me wait or dont have the part) but not this place!! They ended up fixing 5 bulbs that were out for a very fair price! I cant express how grateful I am that they didnt try to take advantage of me, a young blonde woman who knows nothing about cars because that has happened before! I recommend this place to anyone! Avoid this business. I took my vehicle to this garage while on vacation because my air conditioner quit on me. I was told the labor rate was $100 an hour. I asked how much the part was that was needed to fix my vehicle I received a quoted price of $250.00. I called a local parts store and was told that part cost $125.00. I understand that garages mark up prices on parts but a 100% mark up is crazy. I asked if I bought the part from the parts store (which was 3 miles away) would they install it. The garage agreed. I purchased the part and took it to them to install. They claimed the part was not the right part for my vehicle after rechecking with parts store and verifying that it was indeed the right part for my make model and year of vehicle the parts store sent another part to the garage in case the original was boxed wrong. The garage claimed that part too was not right. So my vehicle sat at the garage for 4 days and wasn't fixed and I was charged $100 for diagnostics for the vehicle. The whole ordeal has left a bad feeling with me and my family. read more
