This business was taken over by a new owner and this once great restaurant has really gone down the drain. It's not even worth much time, so all I'll say is the that the food is below par and the service is even worse. I wish it was not like this because we don't have a good Island place is the area. I've tried it serval time in hopes of an improvement so I walk in the this past Sunday, I was the only customer and two guys came out from the back, look at me without saying a word and just ignoring me as if I was not there at all. What even more disturbing about this place is that it set up with these glass barriers and nowhere to order from. Soooooooooo this amazingly delicious gem came across my attention recently. I've been to this location three times in a week and without hesitation I'd make it my absolute go to all the time. Came after work last week and asked for curry goat, black rice, plantain and oxtail gravy on the rice alongside some potato salad. Get the read beans with white rice, you don't need the seasoned rice because it's going to be sopping up all the delicious juices they cook the beans in anyway. Get the sweet fried plantains. I almost never write yelp reviews however considering they charge $2 per patty, I figured I would at least receive a product of decent quality. Unfortunately, after waiting nearly an hour for my food, all patties received were burnt. I tried to call multiple times to have the issue addressed and unfortunately received no answer. Would love to support a Black business, especially as Harlem is rapidly gentrifying however this isn't how you treat customers. Will be spending money elsewhere in the future. Was just walking by, and saw the big "grand opening" sign, so I stuck my head in to check it out. It was small and clean and smelled frickin' amazing. The ladies behind the counter were so warm and friendly too. I wasn't really hungry but it smelled so good I knew I had to taste SOMETHING. I heard good things about this place so I had to check it out for myself! Needless to say it is AMAZING!! This is truly a special place brining food from the islands, Haiti, Trinidad, Jamaica to east Harlem. Stoked that this spot is here and I will definitely be coming at least once a week. Service is great-they welcome you and give the attention you need when placing your order. I love the oxtail, it comes with sides. Definitely try the Mac and cheese and plantain and cabbage.
