    Beef Patty Wings
    Alex F.

If you are a big fan of Jamaican food, this is the place for you. I ordered the beef patty and wings. They had an option to add more to the patty for a little extra cost, which was definitely worth it. I only wanted to try some of the wings and they were full of flavor. The line was relatively long when I went, but definitely worth it. I can wait to go back and try some oxtail.

Big Tings@Chelsea Market 75 9th. Ave. New York, NY 10011 Jerk Chicken The jerk chicken atop the rice and cabbage was nothing unique. It wasn't horrible or spectacular, but it was rather pricey for something that I could have bought anywhere at a cheaper price.

This spot is located within Chelsea Market. The service was very quick, but would not say the food was worth the price. Ordered the oxtail bowl and jerk chicken bowl but unfortunately my favorite thing was the rice :( The salsa was an interesting touch. If I return, would probably try a different menu item

Location is very convenient in the Chelsea market. Service is fast and kind. Curry chicken bowl was so filling and pretty nutritious. Fresh juice has orange, ginger, apple, and carrot and it's made fresh. Definitely recommend

Big tings jerk chicken and rum bar was bussin. I had a veggie fatty patty because they were out of the curry chicken Pattie's but I wasn't disappointed. I don't hold it against them because authentic Jamaican spots are always out of something, I wouldn't trust it if they weren't. It's the real deal though. It's located inside of Chelsea food market if you want to try it out.

Went on a tour to see Lady liberty and came here after. It was about an 11 minute walk. Didn't realize it was in Chelsea's market until I got here. There is bar seating and thats really it as its businesses surrounding this gem. The jerk chicken was spicy. Like make my nose run. I really couldn't taste the flavors because it was so hot. The pineapple salsa was so good and added more flavor and complimented the chicken well and gave it more flavor. The rice and peas and cabbage was soo good and flavorful. And that chicken pattie was soo good and flaky. Wish I got another one it was soo good. We came here around 3 and I left with jerk chicken. I didn't eat the rest until around 10. By that time the flavors set in and it was even better. I would love to try the curry chicken the next time because the pattie was so good! I'm coming back.

Visited Big Tings while visiting New York inside the Chelsea Market. Cute, clean, and well put together establishment. Customer service was a 10/10 menu items were clear and concise, I ordered a beef patty and an oxtail bowl. The oxtail bowl came with cabbage, rice and beans, a nice portion that I was able to share and wash full before I could finish my half. We sat at bar and ate good was playing and the ambiance set the tone. I'm glad I found this place, everything was really good and flavorful!

Fast service, food is premaid so can get in and out quickly. A little too much salt for my taste but still flavorful and delicious!

Extremely tender meat and good flavoring, however the wings did not have much meat on the bone. The jerk chicken is very easy to eat since it falls off the bone

The burrito was delicious, should be the go to. The Mac and cheese looked good, didn't know it was old or something but it was a miss. The sorrel iced tea wasn't the best, tastes like a watered down sorrel. The bread pudding was delicious, and the curry chicken pattie tastes like it was from BJ's Wholesale. But those patties are good though. The customer service was A1, nice people working there. They have seating where you can sit and eat or grab and go.

I can't recommend this spot enough! Not only is the food delicious, but the staff is incredibly friendly!! The chicken was so flavorful and juicy and I loved the pineapple salsa. Definitely stop by here if you're looking for good food and friendly service.

Great lunch portion with a hearty amount of protein! Jerk chicken was a smidge pricey, but so is everything in Chelsea market! Wish the chicken was a bit more seasoned, but still an exceptional lunch! Pineapple slaw is incredible Cheers!

The place looked well-maintained. No restroom. The food was brought to us. We ordered Fried catfish with a side- picked mac n cheese; honey fried chicken with a side- collard greens. Both came with cornbread and condiments. Can opt for 2 sides at a higher price. Food was served in to-go containers and first impressions weren't so good. The catfish said swai on the menu- upon reading on it, it isn't the same as the American catfish at all, but an inexpensive and lower quality option (why priced high on the menu?). There were 4 thin pieces, lightly breaded, was the most flavorful in our order at least. The chicken looked dry and we could tell it's not freshly cooked, esp after taking a bite- the outer part was hard and chewy. Too much honey too. The mac and cheese wasn't creamy, just ok. Collard greens were just ok as well. The cornbread was good, soft and buttery.

I have to come right out and say it-- I've never been so enthusiastic about a "take-out" place…read moreafter just 1 meal. Ever. At work, the Godfather wanted to order (unusual for him to suggest it; usually I'm the 1 pushing for us to order out, and he's invariably resistant, although ultimately, he's acquiescent, although just as invariably he blames me for "pushing him into it" as he gobbles down whatever food it was we've ordered). I was willing but wanted to try something different than our usual fare (burgers, Chinese, Japanese, sandwiches). Someone else mentioned Exotic Eats, as a younger co-worker had ordered from there recently and seemed to enjoy what he had eaten. I asked, "Does this younger co-worker have a discriminating palate?" (Not actually being quite the jerk I oftentimes seem to be, I did of course use less pretentious, overblown verbiage in asking my question.) The reply was, "He's young; he'll order almost anything and like it." So...it might be great; it might be horrible. So we took a chance. They deliver, and I was intrigued by their on-line menu. I can't remember what the Godfather ordered, or another co-worker who wanted us to include him in what had once been known as the Lunchbox Mafia, but I ordered "the Island Bowl." Sliced jerk chicken breast on a bed of Mac & Cheese with jerk BBQ sauce. Being hungry, I ordered a side of blueberry cornbread, and the dessert of banana pudding cheesecake. All of it washed down with my ever-present bottle of Poland Spring water. We didn't have to wait long for it to be delivered. As I mentioned in my introductory remarks, I found the food fabulous. The jerk chicken in its BBQ sauce had a tangy sting, but it wasn't unpleasant or pain-producing. And I have to say-- the Mac & Cheese was the best I've had since my late mother used to make it for me in childhood. It's a baked "dry" Mac & Cheese as opposed to the overly sauced (and bland) version you get in most restaurants these days (all it was missing was the crumbled crackers that my mother used to put on top of it). Pure deliciousness, as they say. The blueberry cornbread was the perfect accompaniment, and the banana pudding cheesecake was wonderfully smooth, creamy, and decadent. I wasn't feeling bloated to the point of discomfort once I had finished it all, but I definitely felt "well fed." My fellow partakers were equally as enthused. Prices were fair, portions were immeasurably more than adequate, and the meal was luxuriously satisfying on every single level. As mentioned, delivery didn't take long at all, and it arrived hot. I'm not entirely sure how to classify the cuisine. The website described it as "Soul Food" with a "Caribbean Spirit." A long-time friend of mine is Jamaican, and she used to throw a big feast for friends and family every summer (I was usually the only white person invited, which was never any sort of a problem, although once a little kid of 4 or 5 looked at me with hostility and said, "What are YOU doing here?"), before health issues sidelined that annual event. She was a great cook, and everything was fresh-- jerk chicken, fish, ackee that always reminded me of scrambled eggs, breadfruit, sorrel liquor, etc. Despite the quality of the food served, I never really acquired a taste for Jamaican cuisine (I ventured out once to a Jamaican restaurant in Perth Amboy with friends; they were enthusiastic about it but it wasn't of the same quality as my friend served, and obviously didn't transform me into a "fan"), but I don't know that Exotic Eats is Jamaican per se. But I know that what I had was delicious and filling, and I can't wait to order from Exotic Eats again. Obviously, very highly recommended.

From the moment we walked in, the owner was incredibly friendly and even offered us free samples of the collard greens, candied yams, and mac and cheese. For our main meals, we ordered the oxtail and the jerk chicken, and both were cooked to perfection with deep, authentic flavors. We are already planning our next trip back just to get more of that incredible mac and cheese!

The vibe inside is so cool, chill hip hop music playing throughout and I genuinely added about five songs to my music library before we even finished eating. That kind of atmosphere is hard to find. The food was incredible. I ordered the buffalo chicken tenders with waffles and everything about it was perfect. The tenders were crispy and glazed beautifully in buffalo sauce. The waffle was not your average waffle, it had this wheat cinnamon style to it that made it stand out, soft, fluffy and absolutely delicious. It came with butter and what I believe was an herb butter as well and whatever it was it was incredible. My fiancé ordered eggs Andy style, scrambled with bacon and toast, and the real standout on his plate were the potatoes. Crushed style, perfectly seasoned with what tasted like brown sugar and paprika. We are still talking about those potatoes. Service was amazing and the whole experience just felt effortless and fun. This one honestly hurt my heart…read more.. Y'all... this review hurts my heart to write because I am a Sweet Chick fan. Not a "I tried it once" fan. A real fan. I've been going to Sweet Chick since there was only one location in Brooklyn. I was literally traveling from Jersey to Brooklyn just for the food, the drinks, and the experience, and I never minded doing it because it was always worth it. So when they opened the Ludlow Street location, I was excited because now I didn't have to make the trip to Brooklyn every time I wanted my chicken and waffles. Back then, Sweet Chick was an experience. They had the big specials board with rotating waffles, desserts, and seasonal items. Their chicken and waffles never missed. I honestly can't remember ever leaving disappointed. So this review is really hard for me. Back on June 26th, after work, my mom and I decided to grab dinner. I work in the LES, and she suggested Sweet Chick. I did tell her my brother Robert had gone recently and said it had changed a lot, but we figured we'd see for ourselves. We got there around 9-ish. The first thing we noticed... It was HOT. Not warm. Hot. Like, "why does it feel like a sauna in here?" hot. We've had enough hot weather this summer, so walking into a restaurant with little to no air conditioning was honestly uncomfortable. We actually debated leaving before we even ordered, but decided to stick it out. Unfortunately... it never got better. The service also wasn't what I remembered. I'm really big on customer service, and Sweet Chick has always had amazing service whenever I've gone. This time it just felt different. The attentiveness wasn't there, and the overall vibe just felt... off. Even the menu has changed. My mom used to love their kale salad, but now it's made differently with things like dates, and she wasn't interested in it anymore. For drinks, my mom ordered an espresso martini, and unfortunately she really didn't enjoy it. It was pretty bitter, and we couldn't quite figure out what was off about it. If I'm ordering an espresso martini, I have certain expectations, and this one just didn't hit for her. I ordered the Queen of New York, and I actually really enjoyed my drink. No complaints there. Now... the food. I ordered the Maple Chipotle Chicken & Sweet Potato Waffle. And this is where my heart really broke. Years ago, when they first introduced the sweet potato waffle as a special, I remember it actually tasting like sweet potato. This one... Honestly just tasted like a regular waffle. I kept looking for that sweet potato flavor, and it just wasn't there. The chicken itself was crispy and cooked well, but the maple chipotle sauce wasn't evenly coated. Some bites were really good, while other pieces were dry because they barely had any sauce on them. Another thing longtime Sweet Chick fans might notice is the butter service. I remember getting three or four different flavored butters, each in their own little container. This time we got two flavors together in one cup. It's a small thing, but it was one of those details that always made Sweet Chick feel special. My mom ordered the Carolina BBQ Chicken with the Grilled Corn Waffle. I'll be fair--her waffle absolutely tasted like a corn waffle. I tried it, and it was really good. She enjoyed her meal more than I did, although she also had a few pieces of chicken that weren't evenly coated with sauce and were a little dry. Overall, she thought it was okay. And I think that's really the word for this visit. Okay. Not terrible. But not the Sweet Chick we remembered. Maybe that's why this visit hit me so hard. When you've loved a place for years, you naturally compare it to what you know it can be. I genuinely hope this was just an off night because I have so many great memories here, and I'd honestly love to come back one day and have the Sweet Chick experience that made me fall in love with it in the first place. Because this restaurant has meant a lot to me over the years, and I'm rooting for it. I really am.

The biscuits were soft and fluffy with a great flavor to them, and the included jams and butter were good as well. The fries were also good. While Bubby's is known for their pancakes, which is why we visited, it wasn't the best for us. We tried the chicken and pancakes. The chicken had some flavor, but not a lot and was filled with all spice in the skin/breading. It is not great to bite into whole all spice! Perhaps my order just had a lot, but I counted up to 15 in my entire plate. We were initially excited for the pancakes as it is what Bubby's is known for, however they were underwhelming and one guest in my party even compared them to an a large baked soft pretzel in flavor (spot on). While they weren't awful or off putting, it wasn't what we were expecting at all considering the hype. Another member of the party got a kebab meal and said the kebab was good and the rice was okay. When we arrived there was no wait and the restaurant was actually empty(about two other parties dining in total (we went on a weekday around 5 pm). The appetizers were the most loved thing for my party! While the pancake flight seems to be more popular, we weren't interested in all the toppings and hoped the pancakes could stand alone- but we were disappointed. Very lovely place otherwise!
