I contacted Homer from Island Coating to see if he'd be interested in putting up some wallpaper for our nursery. My husband and I tried to do it two years ago for our son's nursery and needless to say it was an experience we never wanted to do again. We knew we needed to hire someone to do the wallpaper for our daughters nursery this time and thank God Homer said he was available! We got quotes from other people, some were over $1000 which to me is totally absurd for one wall - I think they priced us at $1,400 or something like that, not to say the effort doesn't deserve a decent amount of payment but over a grand just seemed like a lot especially for our budget. Homer gave us a quote of $450 and knowing he had good reviews on Yelp I was comfortable saying yes. He was on time, professional, super nice, made sure I knew he was still arriving to do the job the day before, always messaged me back if I had questions, and the final result is incredible. He showed up in the morning just like he said he would and was done in the early afternoon. If I ever need someone to do wallpaper services in future renovations I am absolutely contacting Homer to do the job! We recently purchased a house with wallpaper on the kitchen and bathroom walls. It definitely wasn't horrible and I'm sure it was amazing during a certain era but for the 2020s it was a little outdated. I attempted to remove the wallpaper in the bathroom and didn't realize how difficult and TEDIOUS it is. The wallpaper was over 20 years old and isn't the peel and stick type. This was glued (like crazy glued) to the walls and I inadvertently damaged some of the drywall in the process. I didn't even want to attempt to do the kitchen at this point hence "Island Coating" came to the rescue. Homer (the owner) was responsive and professional. He contacted me right away and scheduled an in home visit to provide an estimate. He was so accommodating and flexible with my schedule. The price was also affordable and very reasonable! The job honestly took longer than expected due to the stubbornness of the wallpaper but Homer didn't complain. He worked non stop through the day ensuring no damage occurred to the walls. Even though he spent longer than he probably anticipated, he didn't charge more for his services. He also was very respectful and professional throughout that painful process. I've had other people come in to provide services (home repairs, painting, etc) who would cuss and swear when frustrated but not Homer. He's definitely a man of character. In the end, my kitchen turned out beautiful. I couldn't afford a backslash so I hung wallpaper (again ) but it was the easier peel and stick type and much more modern. Maybe it's not the real thing (tiles) but it still turned out amazing. So grateful to Homer at Island Coating.
