Went in about a week ago to pick up some cheese and got pre package vanilla ice cream to go.. it was awful. Had clearly been sitting in that freezer for god knows how long. Paid damn near $17 for ice cream that was awful. I won't be back again. read more

I was looking forward to trying this place out. It was an overall underwhelming experience. The grounds are pretty with some wooden tables and swings, all spaced well to account for social distancing. My children enjoyed walking over to the calf pen and saying hi to some cows. The indoor area is small with some products like jams, preserves, and various dairy products like milk, cheese, and ice cream. There were about 20 different flavors of ice cream. I got Vanilla and Salted Caramel, my wife got Rocky Road, and my son got Pink Princess (a cotton-candy flavor with sprinkles). My son's was really melty, as if not frozen enough. My wife's and mine were a little too icy with some big crystals. My wife found her Rocky Road to be, in her words "a pretty smooth road" - mostly chocolate ice cream with just a few tiny pieces of chocolate and hardly any marshmallows. Mine tasted fine, but not overwhelming. The two workers seemed bored out of their mind and yet perturbed at our visit. Go figure. The prices were fair. The outdoor waiting area had open trash cans and between the ice cream cups in there and the cow poop not far away, it was really hard to enjoy the ice cream without constantly swatting away the flies. At the end of the day, it was just fine. I don't know if it will warrant a visit from me in the future though. read more

Best ice cream anywhere! In the summer it's fun for the kids to check out the cows here. Frozen rockfish is delicious and a better value than many other seafood markets in the area. One request would be to please update your hours on Google. Drove to the Pocomoke location with a 6 and 2 year old after a half day last week and had two really upset kids as you weren't open. Nothing else really around to take them to, so it was a real bummer. We will always be back, but will call first from now on. read more

Love visiting the store on the farm, brings back memories! I noticed some reviewers here were put off by the "farminess" of the farm, which is funny because...it's a farm! But for those who can relax and enjoy, it's great to have truly amazing ice cream out at the picnic tables while actually watching the herd. A simple "farm-to-table" experience, a rare thing these days. Oh and their strawberry shortcake ice cream is magic. read more

While staying the weekend at a MD state park we discovered Chesapeake Bay Farms all natural local ice cream at the park store and it was amazing! Did alil online research and found out the farm was on our drive north back to NYC so we had to make a visit for more of their ice cream. Small family run shop with the wonderful and helpful owner helping us with ice cream selections. Explained to her we wanted to pick up a few gallons but lived in NYC and in our cooler with ice the precious ice cream would melt and not survive. She then recommends a place to buy dry ice heading north into Delaware which would keep our bounty frozen which was a great idea so we purchase a few tubs of her ice cream and set course to the dry ice shop in Del. Get there and the welding shop says they are out of dry ice due to a National CO2 shortage! Oh no my poor ice cream! We searched the inter webs for other sources of dry ice within a couple of hours and found a couple - called and no one had. Ultimately decided to drive to a nearby Walmart to stock up on bags of ice to fill up my cooler chest and hope for the best during my 5 hour drive back to NYC. Got home & the tubs were half soft but not yet all liquid. Put them in the freezer and the next day shared with family - everyone loved the ice cream. Honest milk flavor, creamy, not overly sweet, and every flavor was amazing. Next time I'm down in that part of MD or nearby I will bring my cooler and dry ice so I can stock up on this wonderful ice cream! A must try everyone! Support the local farmer as well. read more

I surprise visited my dad on Father's Day weekend and let him decide what we would do. He and my mother, who passed away in October, loved to go to Chesapeake Bay Farms for ice cream after her dialysis appointments. There is a great outdoor space to enjoy your treats with tables, swings, and umbrellas. The young person who served us was knowledgeable and kind. I was excited to learn they are part of the ice cream trail as we live very close to 4 other farms. I wanted to try two flavors, so I ordered a double scoop. Their scoops are VERY GENEROUS! I was shocked at how big my cup was! One flavor had coffee, it was DELICIOUS. My dad has his go to, butter pecan, and it was perfect. I can't wait to bring my kids on our next visit to see their Poppy! read more

Buy local!!! Support Worcester County's only dairy farm! Now a stop on Maryland's Ice Cream Trail! Chesapeake Bay Farms has delicious, and sometimes unusual, ice cream flavors. The folks who work there are always friendly and more than willing to give you a taste of whatever flavors you choose. I highly recommend the chocolate ice cream -- probably the best I've tasted anywhere! Definitely try the cotton candy ice cream if they have it available. It will surprise you. I am also a fan of their cheeses -- especially their spreadable cheeses. Wine cheddar is the best! I have also purchased crab meat here. They stock Epicure, which is excellent. The fact that they stock seafood here leads to my one criticism: The seafood makes this little ice cream shack smell, well, seafoody. This probably isn't good for the ice cream, as dairy products can absorb off flavors as a result. Fortunately, I haven't noticed this with their ice cream yet. If they could somehow separate the seafood from the dairy area in the future, this would be a good thing. read more

Our final stop on the Maryland Ice Cream Trail, this was one of our favorites! The peach ice cream was a must, given all the peach trees out back, and didn't disappoint. Creamy and rich, sweet without being cloying, it was yummy! And the chocolate salted caramel concoction (we couldn't just have one flavor!) was equally as delicious. 5 stars simply because their pineapple-orange ice cream was awesome. It was a hot day and my husband and I just got off a hike. I wanted something fruity and refreshing. The pineapple-orange ice cream was just right. My husband ordered a Coke Float with sweet cream ice cream. The funny thing is even though the menu board said "Coke," they only had Pepsi. Oh my gosh! Excellent staff that offer super friendly service each and every time! And the ice cream.. to die for! The only two I've tried (and have only ordered these two since they opened years ago) Coconut Joy and Carmel fudge. . Just so creamy without the extra sugar. I've also had the beef (amazing!), salmon (superbly fresh), crabs (full and sweet), and plenty of cheeses and butters which are just incredibly smooth and decadent. Roughly a month ago I stopped in after getting some blood work done and was surprised to get the opportunity to talk to the mother of one of the owners. After taking the time to talk to me, she thanked me for my support over the years, which as a regular customer, really means a lot. I have passed this place hundreds of times while headed back from the beach. I always told myself I would have to stop here but never got around to it. I finally made it into Chesapeake Bay Farms today and I am glad that I did. We started out with the ice cream which was delicious. The peach and the blueberry crunch ice cream was great. So too was the peanut butter chocolate chip milk shake. We hung around enjoying our treats as we admired the small cows and listened to them moo. It was easy to forget the buzzing of speeding cars down Route 50 while taking in the scenes of the small farm. After the the ice cream, we decided to get our seafood here for our nightly meal. We got a couple of dozen #1 male hard live crabs and 3 pounds of shrimp. The size and freshness was great, so too were the prices. While the atmosphere was cool, the food great and the prices reasonable, another real selling factor at Chesapeake Bay Farms is the service. We had the pleasure of meeting Tiara today. She was awesome. In this day and age of awful customer service, people like Tiara really shine. She was pleasant, professional and efficient. She was awesome to to deal with. We will be back again for sure. read more

I have been pleased with the cheese and meat from their store outside ocean city, so decided to try their delivery service.I was excited to be supporting a local business during these tough times of covid, and glad to have products delivered to me. Big mistake. I was told that my order would arrive between 2 and 7 pm. What? It actually didn't arrive until 7:30. Missing one item, the cheese was so dry it was inedible and the ice cream looked like it had melted and then been refrozen. I tried, but unfortunately they dropped the delivery ball. read more

I love supporting local businesses and the ice cream here is good but I'm questioning why no one has ever brought up the fact that the place is disgusting. Bathroom was so gross, no soap, toilet paper, paper towels, the owner is a slob and not friendly. If someone isn't taking pride in the place they are running, it makes me question how clean the food process is. There was a hair on my ice cream which is what made me write this. Hopefully someone sees this and fixes these issues because this place has great potential with better ownership. read more

We stopped there on the way back from Ocean City. I was searching for a place to buy seafood on our way back and stumbled on this store hidden in the 2nd page of hits on Yelp. Seemed that this had been named as one of the stopping points for the 2016 Ice Cream Trail by Maryland's Best. The reviews, both on Yelp and Google sounded genuine and glowing and I wholeheartedly support local shops over chain stores and this seemed a worthwhile stop. Boy, are we glad that we did !! Regrettably, they did not have the Peach flavor freshly made but we really wanted to taste some. But then the little boy at the counter pointed out that they had some in stock that they had made for the farmer's market. We were glad to buy one and it was out of the world delicious. Our kids lapped up the cookies-and-cream and the cherry ice-creams. Finally on our way out I went back to the counter to buy a peach salad dressing and when my eyes fell on the Blueberry Crunch, I just simply could not resist buying a kid's scoop, in spite of the fact that I was trying to be reasonably calorie conscious. I am very happy that I tried it. I still remember the taste when I close my eyes and think about it. The kids who were there earlier at the counter and the older lady, later, were very very cordial. Being Asian, I am always slightly leery of visiting small shops away from big cities since on several occasions, I have been made to feel differently than the other customers. Chesapeake Bay Farms is a family owned and operated treasure located just a few miles west of Ocean City, MD--an easy side trip from the beach. We visited with our little granddaughter in the summer and she enjoyed seeing the baby calves a little way off from the store--fun!. We have tried the (fabulous) ice cream that comes in MANY flavors, which you can try before you buy. There are also many differently flavored cheeses including the popular Old Bay Cheddar. We have purchased their grass fed beef and made some amazing meals. They also have local honey, eggs and fresh seafood. We recently called looking for live blue crabs when we knew we were a bit outside of the season, but owner, Danny, came through for us with the best crabs we had all year at a very fair price. We went back today to purchase some gorgeous handmade chocolate truffles for a holiday gift. Many reasons to shop at the farm! read more
