I'm only giving this place 3 stars because of my exceptional experience with Ms. Hope and Ms. Debbie. We booked a last minute massage on a very stressful week/day. They melt all of my stress away. My husband got Ms. Hope and he said that was the best massage he had thus far and we have been through SO MANY. I always told my husband that I can tell if the massage therapist is a good or not just by the first few mins I can kind of tell how this is going to go. My husband likes Swedish massage with the purpose of relaxation. For me, I like therapeutic deep tissue massage because I constantly have knots that needed to be worked on because I have chronic back pain. Typically, even with a good masseuse, it takes me a while to get relaxed because I'm always so tensed up. I hold everything on my shoulders and Ms. Debbie I think that's her name. She had glasses, slender and short, grayish/blonde hair. She had some magical touch and was able to do a mixture of things and I was instantly surprised that I was able to relax within the first 5 minutes. That's unheard of for me. Now in terms of working those knots, I'm not sure because I was so relaxed that I didn't care. I do know that she did a combo of everything and I was simply relaxed. My only regret that day was that I booked a 60 mins and not a 90 mins. Their pricing was expensive, but for how much my husband raved about the salt scrub and how great the massage was, I was like sure we'll come back. The price doesn't matter, you get what you paid for. So we were super excited to come back I booked us a 90 minutes massage and they were able to do same day which is great! I love that about them. When we showed up there were no Ms. Hope and Ms. Debbie. It was a male receptionist. He was nice but I saw him kind of chuckling with the female tatted up therapist. Then this shorter lady showed up with braids I think. Oh my god. I don't know where to begin. The massage was at 6, they didn't come back til the room til 6:14 by the time I changed and went to the rest room and back it was probably 5 mins max. They were outside talking. We just laid there asking each other if they were coming? Then once they started I knew uh oh this is not good. I noticed Ms. Debbie had like a seamless routine down. Extremely professional. Everything was done with relaxation at professionalism. This other lady, as soon as she started she started with one hand on my head and I immediately felt like it was one of those massages that my husband gave me when he's also tired and doesn't want to do it. It was all over the place. She found my knot and then kept rolling over and over the whole time with her forearm. Over and over til the point I had to ask her to move on to another spot and come back. Instead of doing that, she skipped the whole left said and go straight to legs and then it was shoulders after I flipped and it was done. I was left with 350 something bill and one side sore and the other side nothing done. Salt were still between my fingers neck, and feet. The towels were almost burning me at one point. This lady seriously never went to massage school. I've gotten enough massages in my life to know this. I usually love deep pressure and never complained. I can take pain. But she went over and over and over for like 30 mins straight in one spot on my right shoulder with her elbow. Seriously, the worst massage I've had thus far wasted my time and money. I ended up going to another therapist right after so they can help me even feel less pain and fix whatever she did. read more

Cute little spa. I booked my facial for 10am. The esthetician I had was very nice. I had their rejuvenating facial. Overall, the facial was good, and it came with a foot scrub and massage. The things that weren't done that has been in all the other facials I've had is the steaming of my face, looking at my skin under the magnifying light, and extractions. Also, my esthetician and a lot of the employees were on island so I wouldn't recommend being the first appointment of the day. read more

I had a Groupon to use and called to schedule an appointment. The receptionist reassured me I was all set. The day of the appointment I drove 35 minutes to get there and when I arrive I was told I was not on the books. I was told I would have to reschedule. This was really inconvenient for me as to this was my only day off, not to mention the gas I wasted to get there. If I didn't have a Groupon I would not be going to this place. read more

I had a really nice treatment, but the whole spa is under major renovations and they did not warn me before I booked. It took me a while to relax because of the strong fumes. They did their best to try to hide them in the treatment room, but I wish they would have told me in advance. They should be done this summer they said and after that I'd return. I been waiting awhile to post this because of how offended and upset this place made me. I actually went home and cried. I been here a few times and loved it! My last visit however the owner decided to do my massage. I wouldn't care at all who did my massage as long as they are licensed and professional. She was none of the above! I looked her up online and she had no license for herself and I also saw she didn't have one for her business to do massage therapy either. That alone should be a reason to not go here! She charged me full price too! I was so embarrassed how she treated me and I've seen other complaints on here as well about her doing this to other clients. I sent my mom here last week for pampering. This past year has been a tough one for her as she has been in and out of homeless shelters and is a recovering drug addict. I was so proud of her for getting herself clean and back on her feet. She still has her struggles but I am proud to say she is drug free!! After the appointment she called to tell me how well Wendy did with her mani/pedi. She said Angela was excellent in working on her carpel tunnel in her arms. Do not go here for nails. They are very outdated - I was there for 2.5 hrs for basic pedi and shellac mani which had to be removed due to being too thick and awful. The owner still charged me $110! Very disappointing. The girl who did my nails was very sweet but the owner needs to update equipment and not charge $110 for basic mani pedi and no color! read more

At first glance, this "whole-in-the-wall" spa seems ill appointed, but the minute you walk in, you know you've found a gem! We live in Austin, but have a 2nd home here. I've been making Island Day Spa part of my self-care routine once a month for over three years! Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Well first the positives.. the whole staff there was EXTREMELY nice to me and my friend and they gave us wine and did everything that was listed under what the mani/pedi was supposed to include... but the bad part? the massage guy hurt me! I will begin with the positive. I booked a last minute couples massage for my mom and I. We had two legit lmt do our massages and it was so great that I booked another massage this time deep tissue with reflexology. First, they call me to see if I can come in earlier for my massage on that day-fine I could so I did. I had booked my appt with the same girl I had last time. When I come in she's not working that day. They had the wrong type of massage booked and the owner or manager not sure who she is decides to do the massage herself. She is a very small older woman. When I tell her it's a deep tissue with reflexology she tells me to wait in the room and walks out. I hear her talking to the receptionist outside about how it's reflexology and she doesn't know how to do it( the lady I had originally booked it with has done reflexology since she was 12). She comes back in the room and proceeds to pretend to know what she's doing and I don't think she's even an lmt at all. She randomly rubbed my back and pressed on my feet for an hour pretending to do reflexology. I let her do it because my back was so tight that some massage was better than none. She charged me full price for this and I was so appalled she did this. So dishonest, so disorganized. read more

I am very disappointed. I read reviews with a bunch of satisfied customers. Beautiful place but my mani-pedi is so terrible. My nails are not fully painted all the way. One hand has two coats the other three. Nail Polish all over my skin around my nails. I kept hoping she'd fix it but I had no time to sit and wait longer or redo them. I am not one to go spend money on myself so when I do I want it to at least look decent and I'm sorry the worst experience I have ever had.
