I went in desperate, on vacation because my toe nail polish was coming off after two days at the beach. I was told they could take care of me right away for a gel pedicure. I had a bruised foot so I asked to just have a polish change. She removed the rest of the gel from my toe nails and repainted my nails with gel polish. It felt very rushed. I got back to the house and realized that I had a smudge on the polish on my big toe. We were packing to leave the next day, so I was unable to go back. $65 for a gel polish change, no massage. Today, two days later, the polish came off a 1/2 of one of my toe nails. We got home yesterday, so it's not like I can go back. read more

What a mixed bag. We made an appt for four ppl and three of us were seated fairly promptly; one waited another hour. But that's not the weird part. I understand this is a transient place where regulars are few and far between, but there is an opportunity here to be better. The back room holds two chairs (great massage chairs). It's small, but it could be a cute area. Oddly, they use it as a thoroughfare to the massage chair and the washing g machines. The techs have to constantly get up and move or get bumped. The service itself was fine. The paint jobs in ties and nails was uneven and was applied with L to R motion instead of up/down. Very overpriced. They will offer Bud Light, Miller Lite, or a soft drink to some patrons. The two of our party who were in the main room were offered nothing to drink. Techs were griping at each other, and the vibe was off putting- It just wasn't wonderful. read more

I had an extremely horrific experience here. I requested dip powder nails while on vacation because I didn't have time to get them done before leaving home, thought it would be a nice vacay treat while on the island. The nail tech, who I believe was also the female owner, was so extremely aggressive, despite my consistent complaints, that not only did I leave with extremely ugly and weird nails, my nails were bleeding at the cuticles and around my fingers, and all were sore. I had to purchase medicated cream to put on my nails and cuticles for several days to avoid infection and promote faster healing. Now, only 9 days later, the top layer is peeling off. The only reason I'm not getting them redone right now at my normal local nail salon, is I feel my fingers require more time for healing. As if that is not traumatizing enough, she insisted I dip my entire hands in a HOT bag of Acetone because 'it removes the old fast.' I refused to dip my hands in, but she kept pushing me, I requested the foils and she refused, so I would dip just my fingernails. Took forever fyi. The entire experience was so upsetting, so much so, I am considering doing away with even having powder dipped nails even though I usually love having them. I'm worried about my health with the hot acetone, and the long term damage with my nails and cuticles. Ok to top all that off, she charged me $170+tip for this and my daughter's manicure (daughter had a good experience with another woman there). I usually pay $55 for the dip powder at my own local nail salon and understand a bit more premium on the island but $200 later and a poor and painful experience...no way. A rip off, a traumatizing experience, it was jarring to say the least. Too bad, because my daughter had a very sweet and wonderful woman thankfully who gave her a great manicure and treated her so well. read more

Very happy with my pedicure today. Came here with my daughter to get pedicures. We both opted for a French pedicure. I got the basic spa pedicure. There were like 7 or 8 other ones from which to pick. My daughter and I were both offered drinks to start. She got water, I got hot tea which was actually served in a real tea cup. I thought that was a nice touch! Both women who did our pedicures were really nice. My pedicure included hit towels, massage, and hot stones. It was very relaxing. I really enjoyed it. I tried this salon for the first time. In fairness, the staff was very nice. The fresh fruit massage on my hands was amazing. But, the nail tech was so aggressive with a Dremel that my nails are ruined. My long time nail tech called the condition my nails are now in a ring of fire. The Dremel left red half moons at the cuticle of each nail. After two months, the nails are growing out with the rings about 1/4 of the way up the nail. I'm Told that when the rings get closer to the tips, the nails will break off. Lesson learned. I will never go back. I hesitated to write this review, but I don't want anyone else to have to deal with this. I just hope that I don't have permanent damage. read more

And that's not even touching on the fact that the business owner had my friend on the phone figuring out a technical issue with their POS system the entire 2.5 hours we were there and then they still charged her for her service. How is it relaxing for her to be figuring something out for the business for over two hours? Y'all should have comped her entire visit after that. Her nails also looked like mine, by the way. My fiancé recently broke his left wrist and right shoulder and severely dislocated his right thumb in a motorcycle accident. Casts, worn for weeks were removed just before our vacation near Port Aransas. We decided to get a basic MANi for him and a pedi for me. This was simply the closest nail salon and spa to us but was definitely a great decision. 2 women made us laugh and treated us with kindness while explaining techniques they utilized to comfort us, soften our skin and make my toes sparkle. Both of us were served 2 frozen margaritas which enhanced the experience. Definitely recommended! Rub chilled lime and grapefruit slices on your arms, legs, hands and feet. The pedicures featured an array of scrubs, fresh fruit, and exfoliation. The pedicures took an hour and 15 minutes which definitely made the price well worth it. If this is what you are going to do you shouldn't charge $70 for that. Within hours while playing cards a nail came off. After further examining her nails we noticed what had happened. The have many pedicure options to choose from and when I asked what she thought she suggested the Volcano Spa and she was not wrong! It was pretty amazing and very relaxing. Service was great. I got the gel nail polish on Tuesday, by Friday two of them had already peeled off. Really the only thing I've done besides washing my hands and dishes... is cooking. I usually get my nails dipped and I wasn't thinking when i came in asking for gel. I have one more nail that chipped so, I'll be going back to my usual. Stopped here to kill time. REPULSIVE...If I had wanted to pay SPA prices, I would have paid the spa at the Hotel but NO...I wanted to support the local community of a place that we come several times a year and love. That backfired here for sure. Super disappointed in my visit with this business. They gouge people. They didn't tell me that they would be charging me an additional $30.00 on both my feet and hands for shellac. So a 90.00 PEDICURE became over 100.00 ridiculous. They are advertising their massage area as a spa and in now way is it a spa. It is a back room that you have to go through the break room and their storage area. That is not a spa. Be careful going to this business. BOOOOO. For a pedicure and set of nails was nearly $250.00 what? Then the two massages we received was nearly 300.00 for a super mediocre massage with one woman that didn't seem like she even gave a darn about our being there. Shameful. No wonder the reviews are horrible lately. We love Port A and will continue to go there but no way do we recommend this place. Go elsewhere. After writing my first review this owner contacted Yelp and lied about the experience. I rewrote and then she began to harass me. See the pics of her texts to me. The negative reviews on here are spot on...This woman doesn't care about tourists, she over charges, doesn't disclose fees, and abuses people who post negatively,. Shame on this business. Unfortunately, I left fairly unpleased. I went in to get my shellac pedicure soak-off and polish. The lady didn't secure the cotton or acetone, so the polish was still hard and she started (very roughly) just filing the shellac off. It left my toe nails sore and very thin. She then was very sloppy with the polish and wouldn't clean my flooded cuticles of the excess polish. Finally, the original price was $42, but I know that soak off and shellac cost extra, but $30 more! An overpriced pedi for a half effort job, sadly dissatisfied.‍ read more
