You have to pay for parking and they don't validate. When you call, just speak to scheduling for everything you need. If you try any of the other menu options, you'll just be sent to voicemail. Dr. Roberts also sends all her prescriptions at the end of the day so you won't be able to pick up your new prescription right after your appointment and you'll have to wait. I didn't feel rushed with Dr. Roberts and she took the time to answer my questions. I would give this place 4-5 stars if parking was free and if it was easier to reach the front desk by phone. read more

What a mess that place is. They scheduled me with an assistant rather than the dr and while she was nice, she couldn't schedule my procedure because I had to come back and see the dr. Then they put adhesive bandages on my back. It is all over my chart that I am allergic to adhesive. The bandage they replaced it with fell off after 5 minutes. When I came back two weeks later to finally see the doctor there was confusion about when she would remove the cyst. She left the treatment room to go check my appointment and told me to go ahead and get dressed. She hadn't even bandaged the open wound on my back. By this time, I was so frustrated that I told them don't bother scheduling me I would not be returning. I then went to urgent care and had them bandage up my back. Don't do it. If you're looking for a dermatologist who treats a full-body skin check like an Olympic sprint, Dr. Wendy Roberts is your gal. My appointment lasted roughly the length of a TikTok video (and felt twice as chaotic). Highlights included: * Having my phone physically confiscated not once, but TWICE so I couldn't glance at the list of concerns I'd prepared so I would not forget anything. * Playing an aggressive game of "keep-away" with my own arms every time I tried to point at a spot and (gasp) ask a question. * Every time I tried to ask a question I received a micro answer and was just had another direction barked at me on what to do with my body. * The grand finale: after I explicitly warned her about my history of bad scarring and hyperpigmentation from liquid nitrogen, she whipped out the cryo gun like a Wild West bartender drawing on a drunk customer and blitzed two spots before I could ask questions or consent. I left feeling like I'd just survived hand-to-hand combat with someone who bills $300+ an hour to ignore patients. If you enjoy being steamrolled, patronized, and cryo-sprayed against your will, book today! Everyone else: run (don't walk) somewhere else. Two stars because the front desk was super nice. read more

I had an appointment at 11:00 and arrived at 10:50. I waited until 11:23 before being taken to a waiting room, where I remained until around 11:47 without any explanation or updates. When I stepped out to ask about the delay, I ran into the doctor, Dr. Roberts. As soon as I tried to ask why I had been waiting for so long, she interrupted me and repeatedly told me to go back to the room and wait, without allowing me to speak. She then went in to see another patient, which made the situation feel even more dismissive and frustrating. When Dr. Roberts later came in to see me, I asked if I could be seen by a different doctor, as I no longer felt comfortable continuing the visit with her. She took me to speak with the front desk. The interaction with the front desk was also uncomfortable. I was told that no replacement doctor was available and that I would need to come back on another day. Despite not receiving care, I was informed that the visit would still be billed to my insurance. Overall, the lack of communication, empathy, and professionalism from both the medical staff and the front desk was disappointing, and I expected better treatment as a patient. read more

This will be my last visit to this location. While the doctors and staff are kind and professional, the scheduling system is extremely disappointing. At my first appointment, I waited 45+ minutes past my scheduled time to be seen. At my second--and final--appointment, I wasn't seen until 4:30PM despite having a 3:00 PM slot. That kind of delay is unacceptable, especially when patients are also expected to pay for parking. This experience felt like a waste of both time and money. The office urgently needs to improve its scheduling and staffing to better respect patients' time. It's unfortunate, because the care itself is great--but unfortunately, that gets overshadowed by poor time management and lack of consideration for patients' schedules. read more

I was there, for about 30 minutes filling out paperwork. Then gone into examining room, only looked at one area on foot and lower leg. Dr. Black, in my original report I suppose to see a male Doctor, it turned out to be a woman. I was surprised, so I don't mind. She looks at my lower leg & foot, she prescribed medication to be put on my area that was examined for couple of weeks. When I saw original Doctor the next day, he opened a drawer on medication cabinet, it was the same drug with a little additional additive. He said to me the whole thing was a complete mistake , I certainly agree, he said, to me if he had known before I gone there, he would have canceled that appointment with them. read more

Dr Robert's was very responsive and caring when treating me for my sudden hair loss. She spent solid time with me reviewing my labs, medications and considering my overall health before prescribing treatments that got my hair growing back. Her front and back office staff are always friendly and helpful at each visit. I am so thankful. read more

You can't get an appointment here! I called every day 4 days in a row and I can't even talk to anybody to make an appointment. They have a recording that says if you want to hold or leave your # and they'll call you back. The 1st couple times I waited for 30 minutes then left my phone #. Due to work, I missed their call back a couple times. Called again another day, same process. Once I finally got a call back, I answered it, they put me on hold, we got disconnected! They didn't even bother to call me back after getting disconnected. I Called AGAIN, at 3:30pm and this time it basically went straight to voicemail. The doctors here are the most unfriendly professionals I have ever encountered. They almost seeem to be trying to make you feel badly about showing up as if it is an inconvenience to them. I saw two doctors here, thinking the first one had to be a one off. Nope! The other one was more miserable than the fist. So assuming they are all cranky and miserable. I'm not exaggerating. They barely get out a hello when they walk in the room. The most miserable and memorable office I have ever encountered. No joy, zero. They hate their jobs I guess. read more

I didn't plan on leaving a review originally, but this whole experience has been as bad as it could be. About two years ago I visited Island Dermatology Newport Beach and had a great experience. Thus, I was hoping when I had to reschedule my appointment from the Newport Beach location to the Laguna Hills location, I would have the same experience. However, immediately I was faced with problems from the front desk saying my insurance was not working and I needed to contact them. This was just a few days before my appointment that I made and waited over two months for. I then contacted my insurance to confirm everything was okay on my end and was informed that it was. So I called back again, and of course this time the front desk told me my insurance was working. Then during my visit I was told that I was unable to see a doctor because they were busy talking to a director of Island Dermatology, and they didn't want me to have to wait. I immediately was concerned because the PA told me that she was unable to prescribe the medication I had been previously prescribed at Newport Beach, but the doctor would call me back by the end of the business day, and it shouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately for me, they then called me back after I got home from my 45-minute drive, and they told me they were unable to prescribe that medication and required me to come back for another visit to give blood and see a new doctor. I then asked to talk to the manager, and she told me that they had no record of me ever visiting Island Dermatology. However, as I previously stated, I had been to Island Dermatology just a couple of years back and hadn't ever been to a dermatologist besides them before. The manager of Laguna Hills even asked if I changed my name before she would admit their wrongdoing. Eventually, I was able to find the medication prescribed by my doctor two years ago, and of course it was from Island Dermatology Newport Beach (Dr. Joseph Kamel). The next day they prescribed me my medication; however, they again messed up and sent it to a different CVS than I requested when I filled out my medical forms in person. Long story short, this dermatologist office is extremely difficult to work with, and I wouldn't ever trust them again with my medical records or any important documents. read more

I did get to see the PA and didn't have to wait very long. After that it went downhill. I had to make 4 calls to get a prescription filled and each time I was told it would be taken care of that day...not! Getting ahold of this office to get things done is impossible. I am not impressed by their professionalism and feel a total lack of caring , probably because I have an HMO. oh if i could only give this place zero stars i most definitely would!!! a nightmare of a place - run, DONT walk, away from them!!! i went in for my annual body check - dr green froze off a few spots - one of them never went away - went in for my 3 mo follow-up - he wanted to do a biopsy, but he wanted me to come back in (so that way they could charge me another office visit) - his assistant even said that all the other doctors would do the biopsy the same day, but not dr green - ok, well that makes zero sense!!! i scheduled a biopsy - when i went in for it, the spot had gone away & he said it was most likely a bruise that had been healing - wait, what?!? shouldn't a professional dermatologist have known that from the get-go??? that visit consisted of 12 mins from the time i parked my car, walked over, took the elevator up, went in, saw dr green & returned to my car - all that, a total of 12 mins!!! i paid over $2,000 for that debacle - i disputed the charges with their billing department, who are slow as molasses to respond, if at all - in the meantime they sent my account to a collection agency which they had promised not to do while it was in dispute. needless to say, i changed docs & went to see a new dermatologist who assured me i had nothing to worry about & was appaled at how dr green & island dermatology handled my issue. it is worth noting that i had a follow up with dr green - a few days before i received a text from island dermatology cancelling my appointment because my provider was not available - no explanation why he wasn't available - later found out he retired before my appointment. please be aware of my experience with this office - i hope it helps you to make an informed decision. read more
