I was looking for a new dermatologist and it was really important to me to find a Latina female doctor. I'm so glad I found Dr. Romero. From the first appointment, she took her time addressing all of my skin concerns and carefully looked at several moles I was worried about. She answered every question with calmness and clarity and never made me feel rushed. Her staff is also very thoughtful and caring and you can tell they genuinely care about their patients. I've since brought my toddler in to have a birthmark evaluated and will be switching my husband over to her as well. She recently removed a suspicious mole for me and the entire procedure was smooth. She helped keep me at ease through what can be a nerve racking situation. Moles can present differently on darker skin tones, so it's important to have a dermatologist who understands how to evaluate different skin types. I later saw other reviews mentioning the same issue with the receptionist, and I wish I had read them before wasting my time driving all the way to Laguna Hills. It's unfortunate, because Dr. Romero is great. 5 Stars Dr. Romero has been treating my 14-year-old son's aggressive acne for over a year now, and we couldn't be happier with the results. The regimen she prescribed cleared his skin without over-drying or irritation, and more importantly, helped restore his confidence. She has a warm, reassuring presence and made him feel completely comfortable from the start. She really listened to his concerns and took the time to explain everything clearly. Dr. Romero is not only kind and compassionate, but also incredibly knowledgeable and thorough. Her office is bright, modern, and spotless, with up to date equipment and a welcoming atmosphere. Totally disorganized and a waste of my valuable time. This was my first time visiting this office. I arrived at noon for a 12:30 appointment so I could take care of any business regarding insurance, etc., before the appointment. First off, they have no way of checking your insurance so when I explained that I had met my deductible and out-of-pocket expenses and didn't have a co-pay I had to spend 15 minutes of my time on the phone with my insurance to confirm this for them. Secondly, they require identification, which I completely understand. Unfortunately, I did not have my drivers license, but I had other identification, including a Costco card with my photo. I gave them my Costco card my insurance card and stated I would be happy to come back with my drivers license. I thought we were all good. I went to sit down somebody came out, took me into one of the waiting rooms. I met with the assistant to get my information and was told the doctor would be right in. Mind you it was now 12:50 and this is time I'm taking off of work. At around 12:55 the lady at the front desk comes in to tell me the doctor can't see me without a drivers license. So why did we go through the whole process of taking me back to the waiting room and taking my other identification ?!!!! Why waste my valuable time and my gas?! When she suggested I reschedule when I have my drivers license, my gut was tell me find another dermatologist. If this is how the appointment starts off then I can likely expect more problems down the road. read more

I always feel super comfortable here as well as I always get the nitty gritty truth of how my skin is doing. They also does some amazing acne facials and gets to know your skin type well. So disappointing to not even be able to have consistent information given when making an appointment. Referred to us by my urgent care, I called to have 2 warts removed from my sons feet. Was given 3 different answers about the appointment. Then the day before the appointment I received a text canceling us. "Brook...I just spoke with Dr Romero. We think with all these phone calls and texts, (I have called 2 times) it's best that you see your prior dermatology office. We have not seen your son before (was told It is possible to have them removed same day by the nurse) and we cannot promise to remove them tomorrow. Dr Romero sees kids and adults and evaluate on the first visit. The doctor discusses her diagnosis and makes her recommendation. She sees warts all the time and there are many options. We do our best to treat patients with the best care possible but our interaction with you has been difficult and don't want you upset if the doctor makes a different recommendation. Dr. Romero is fabulous!! On a professional level, she's Harvard-trained (It doesn't get much better than that!!) and she has extensive field experience and continuing educational training. She KNOWS her stuff!! On a personal level, she's warm, kind, easy to talk with, friendly, all while being very professional. Been bringing my two sons here for acne treatment since Feb and the their experiences have been wonderful thus far. Dr. Romero has been treating my kids with utmost professionalism and parental-style of care. She has been methodical with her approach and details several options to ensure the patient understands and selects the desired treatment. Communication has been on point with the staff here; the nurses are very responsive and Suzanne, at the front desk is very easy to work with and consistently polite. If your child suffers from severe acne, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Romero's office to get an assessment/discuss treatments as my teenagers' confidence and self-esteem were certainly boosted with their improving skin. read more

SUCH A SHAME... My son had a really bad problem with adult acne and I went to see Doc Romero. She was great. I recently decided that since I just passed 65 that I would go see her. I was treated so poorly by a lady on the front desk that I left. I sent a note and the office Manager called me, apologized, and said someone will call me to schedule an appointment. I said okay. 2 weeks later and NO call, nothing - and since they are screening my comments from the Doc I am leaving this review and both me and my son will look for another derm. I really like Dr. Romero's office. I previously went to Dr. Toy, also in MV, who had absolutely no bedside manner so Dr. Romero is a pleasant change. There are a few things in the office that I wish were better (Suzanne could collect the co-pay when you're leaving and making your next appt rather than up front. They always say "Let me get you 'checked in' and then just ask for payment) but overall, the staff is quite friendly. The doctor is knowledgable and chats with you about all of your issues, taking time and not feeling too rushed. I trust her and know that I am in good hands. read more

This little nugget is tucked away off busy Paseo de Valencia located in the middle of"spanish" style building. Plenty of onsite parking lot. (No charge) The office is cheerful the staff bubbly. They make the introduction warm, even when you are late ( got lost) for your appointment. The conversation is easy while they assess your skin situation. We are sent a RX for our problem and scheduled for a deep clean. Honestly aside from the fact we're not at a luxurious spa. The cost price point with insurance. There is no reason you can't get some skin maintenance without the big ticket bill you'd get at a spa. My son's teenage acne has cleared up exponentially. They really took care of us and it felt like I was working with my aunts. Housekeeping: this shop has everything on the spectrum you'd get at a med spa. Most insured but once you get into the cosmetic side, you're out of pocket. I'm going to put a pin in this review. I may try some services moving forward. We will see. TBD. Ciao read more

I've been seeing Dr Romero a couple years. She and her staff have always been wonderful and caring and always making sure all questions and concerns are addressed. This past week was a nightmare for me trying to obtain my new prescription for psoriasis with the speciality pharmacy. Fabiola went above and beyond to get the speciality pharmacies "we need this, call this number, it shipped, no it didn't ship" run around hammered out. She was amazing! Dr Romero & her staff are the best. They run on time and take the time to listen to your concerns and explain thoroughly what to expect. My husband is a "very sensitive patient" and hates to go to doctor. They were very kind & patient with him. It's usually very traumatic, with their care he got through it easily. Super friendly staff but honestly not worth the time/money. I came in looking for help with my skin and she immediately jumped to moles on my back without even addressing my first issue ($$$). She then handed me samples from some rep on my way out to try and didn't really give me a care plan of any kind. I wish I had a better experience here but my skin issue was never solved and I still ended up paying over $400 for my visits. I'd try an esthetician before this! read more

We have been seeing Dr Romero for over 3 years and she's amazing. My daughter has very bad eczema since she was a baby and it could flare up big time during Santa Ana wind and any seasonal changes. She gave up swimming and water sports because of the skin discomfort. She was about to quit competitive dance too because of all the discoloration and scars resulted from eczema when we found Dr Romero. Dr immediately worked her magic and had everything under control within days. Now with the new prescription, my daughter is finally free from the frustration of itchy sleepless nights, even her discoloration is starting to fade. They wanted me to sign a paper stating whatever insurance wouldn't pay you would agree to pay it out of pocket! NO I DON'T THINK SO that's the purpose of insurance! I called my PPO insurance and they told me to not sign anything like that. WE LEFT! read more

PATIENTS BEWARE: Had the absolute strangest experience here. I originally had booked an appointment with Dr Romero because this practice had decent reviews on yelp. Well if you do a little more research, you will easily find her horrible history and reviews from other cities she has practiced in. From the very beginning, the front desk staff is not competent and did not explain to me upon booking, that they do not allow an initial appointment to include a full body blemish check. (?? Way for them to make more money off insurance?). The staff member who showed me to the room and did the intake was incredibly rude, and honestly just strange. Had a strange way of conversing and made me feel incredibly awkward with long pauses and just stared at some points? But the real kicker was the dr herself. She really does live up to the historically bad reviews she has from other locations. Incredibly condescending, immediately jumped to telling me how she would remove/freeze off/shave off different blemishes when I never asked or even was there for that. Tried to argue with me about my family history of melanoma, and that in her '20 years of experience she had rarely heard of that happening' as if she did not believe me? Ended the appointment with the suggestion to come back after 2 weeks for a full body scan (since that is the timeframe insurance allows), and also to schedule another appointment 2 weeks after the scan to have anything removed. This place feels like all they care about is making money and getting as many appointments out of you as possible. Would never go back, and I hope patients avoid this clinic at all costs. read more
