My car had a terrible leak and water overflowed from my trunk, spilling underneath the carpeting of the entire vehicle. I called around and learned that many shops don't know how to treat this issue properly. Island Detail is one of the few shops that knows what they're doing when it comes to cleaning up water leaks. You have to pull back the carpeting, dry everything out, and replace the pads. Not every shop will bother with this effort, but it's necessary unless you want mold growing in your vehicle (or worse). Pat got me into his shop when everyone else was booked out. He fixed the issue quickly, went over all the costs with me in detail, and was communicative throughout. The leak was coming from multiple sources, and it took a few tries to properly troubleshoot the problem and resolve all the leaks, but Pat saw me through until the issue was fully resolved. I have no issue with the work done on my car except him not touching my headlight lenses which are still cloudy. What I have an issue with and what I'd caution other potential customers about is the busines practice of the shop. I saw what they quote for a full detail on there website and while high, I've had other cars detailed by this shop and I know the quality of their work so I said go ahead. After telling me he'd need the car for 3 days, he informed me when I was in an Uber headed to his shop to pick the car up that he'd need it for longer. He said Friday. When I was on my way, again in an Uber, to pick it up Friday, I get a text saying he had to run an errand and would be back by 4pm. So I wait outside for 1/2 hour. Today is Tuesday and I got his invoice. it's for almost double the listed price. I'm getting charged for multiple items that I wasn't told about nor authorized. My suggestion is to get a written estimate so you won't be shocked. You also might want to record any conversations as the owner has a sketchy memory. read more

Wow! Came back to get my car and it looked new! I didn't want to sell it. Patrick is a detail guy after my own heart. This is what a car detail should be. Yes, it's more expensive, but I easily got $1000 more for the car than I would have. He is so meticulous that he pulled the wheels off so he could paint the drums silver. Truly top drawer. I too was referred to Patrick by a trusted mechanic and can't say enough positive things about the whole experience. Not only did I end up with a like-new car, but I learned so much about my car, other cars, care of cars, keeping cars clean, and so on. Patrick is a font of knowledge and gave me maintenance tips, practical advice, and even cleaning tips that don't appear to be to his advantage. The car looked brand new when it was done. Forget brake dust, even the nicks in the wheels from curbing were cleaned out. It really did look brand new. It wasn't just "cleaned," it was detailed. That means little things like the loose ashtray was repaired, a jiggling door handle was miraculously solidified, a missing emblem on the engine was replaced, a missing spring clip in the trunk was fixed -- all without me even mentioning them and all included in the price. (I did pay a little to have a broken hose repaired, but that was appropriate because parts had to be ordered). This is a full service shop. In the past Pat has done a great job on my car. In my last experience he failed to do what he said he would. (Touching up paint,and an interior scratch) When I told him I was unhappy with the service, he said I was just trying to get something for free (after paying top dollor for a detail). He then became very rude and said I was always trying to get things for free. I had always paid him what he asked in the past happily. Island detail has lost it's attention to "Detail" and become an overpriced shop that doesn't deliver. Beware of this shops high cost and mediocre serivce. The best. Absolutely. I have a nice older, extremely well maintained Porsche 911 and bring it to Pat every two years for two full days worth of interior and exterior detailing. He sweats the details -- the exhaust system is clean; the suspension is detailed; the interior is cared for in every minor detail; the heat exchangers and radiators are cleaned to like-new condition.
