Incompetent, rude, unhelpful. You can't count on your trash always being picked up, depends on how the guy feels that day. So I called them to ask why my trash was not picked up. Madison said they didn't know, they'd call me back. They never did. I had to call them the following week and then Madison told me they didn't know what happened and also didn't know why she never called me back. When pressed, Madison started making up lies about a possible weather issue - yeah, that's why they skipped my house (no hill or access issues) and a few others in my neighborhood but managed to collect trash from everyone else. She then refused to send someone to pick up the trash they missed. I had to ask her not to charge me for the service I didn't receive - they were going to still bill me for it! Turns out when she promised to not bill me for the service I didn't receive, she was lying (see last paragraph). Madison then refused to put me through to a supervisor but would relay a message and admitted she wasn't sure if they'd call me back (like she never did). When I asked who was above her supervisors Eric and Andrew, she said it is a company called Waste Connections but refused to give me their contact number, told me to look it up online. After much protesting, she finally looked up the number for me - and gave me a number that directs right back to her office, not even Waste Connections, as she stated. Convenient. Spoke with the "boss" Andrew the next day. He just kept telling me how they are not required to refund me if they didn't pick up. Repeatedly told me they are allowed to bill you even if they don't provide the service. This company is criminal and its employees are unhelpful and rude. Unfortunately if you live on this god forsaken Island, you don't have any choices and are stuck working with losers like this. Everyone here should be unemployed. read more

At Island Disposal, you're greeted by rude, maskless, sneering Karens with no Covid protocol whatsoever. Asking a question about what gets put where results in eye-rolling, followed by a terse explanation and a sigh. They advertise that they recycle electronics. They do not, actually, do that, and told us to just throw our broken 50" flatscreen and laptop "in the trash", even though both contain environmental contaminants. Feckless, dangerously stupid, ignorant of the health of their community and the environment, this is exactly how recycling is done WRONG. Stay away from these people. They have no interest in your safety or the environment. They are the very definition of what it is to be a bad neighbor. Nope nope nope nope. read more

I had some materials and waste that I needed to get rid of and they were way too big to use my household recycle bins. Having just moved here and not being a local I had to find a place where I could get rid of large toilets and excess household goods and I was pleased to find this place. All I had to do is rent a truck loaded up and when you pull up they weigh the truck and then you're allowed to dump your materials and on the way out they minus the difference and you're charged. I had about 500 pounds worth of waste and it ended up costing me about 39 bucks is a very good deal I've been quoted about 150 from junk removal service read more

I've been a customer for six months and they still can't find my account and each call seems to take at least 10 minutes. I scheduled to pick up and they couldn't get to me for almost a week and then the driver showed up and rather than getting out to pick up the dumpster, he just drove away, of course they notified me after he was gone and then rescheduled me for another five days later meanwhile, the garbage is overflowing. They really don't care about good service and their managers are unhelpful. read more

I feel for the folks who had bad customer service. I am happy to say I have only got good help when I have called them through the years. They were polite and helped me work out whatever I was asking. We recently where I am property manager in Freeland got a new driver. He was going to the wrong side on the grass. I must have called 3 to 5 times. Never got the stink eye, just a nice woman who finally got it resolved. So, a shout out to her! Also, a thank you to all our drivers through the years. I'm not too sure why the individuals working customer service feel so entitled. They speak as if we owe them something, even though we pay them every single month. They do not treat customers like customers, but major inconveniences. They no longer do "personal" trash bins, which is fine, but they gave us the wrong sized bin so we called them to come pick it up and give us the size we need. Long story short, they never came to switch out the two, didn't pick our trash up, and won't do a thing about it. We should really have options for more reliable waste companies because I would have dropped them months ago. read more

Worst customer service ever! My neighbor texted that my two trash bins weren't picked up so I called and asked why and if they still could be. I explained we just moved in, I'm alone right now, pregnant and in desperate need of trash removal and Debbie was so rude to me! At the urging of my neighbor, I called back and spoke to the supervisor, Michelle, who didn't seem all that perturbed by my explanation that Debbie had not been polite to me as if this is the norm there?? She didn't even apologize for the unprofessional way in which her employee spoke to a customer nor the lack of good customer service, although she did call me back and state the driver would come back and get my forgotten bins... We will be using the dump ourselves within the next few months once our schedules normalize, hopefully. I'm sure the drivers are much nicer than the receptionists.... read more

Terrible customer service. For the third time in 6 months, our garbage was not picked up. Our neighbours​ left their two bins out and were emptied. However, our bin, which was right next to theirs was not emptied. Called customer service saying I wanted ​credit. I was told they do not do credit but I can put out two bins next week. I told them they should give me a $30 credit so I can now go out and buy an extra trash bin since it is their fault that I now need an extra trash bin. They said sorry, nothing they can do. So you pay for a service, which they do not provide, and they won't issue you a credit and want you to go spend more money because of their incompetence​. They're totally pathetic. read more

Since they changed the service as of Dec 20. my trash was not picked up on the new date of Tuesday dec. 21. I was told it is because we did not put our trash out at 6 a.m. We have lived here for 3 years and never had a problem until they changed the service. Worst customer service around.... talk to you like a hostage and not a paying customer. If you don't like the way you are treated in Coupeville it really doesn't matter since you can't cancel them. -- We no longer live in Arizona... we live on Whidbey Island....This is terrible customer service. Announcing they are going to Automated Garbage Service. We currently just bought two 32 gal cans. We called to ask about getting two 32 gal can instead of 1 64 gal can like the mailer stated. He was simply told, they do not do that. My husband told them he is handicapped and the lady on the phone said he could go and buy an adapter for the big can so my husband could drive it down. This adapter takes a ball socket mount. We use our lawn tractor for other things than just taking the trash down our steep hill to the road. If this was not a monopoly, I would go to a competitor. This place is TERRIBLE. They need competition so they HAVE to improve to stay in business. TERRIBLE company! read more

We have had island disposal for several years. Gone through 3 garbage men and they all are wonderful. From making sure that they have water when it's so hot during summer to winter time and open heart surgery and couldn't get my garbage can back up to the house. Customer service is some of the worst in this business. If you have an issue with them, then be prepared to be treated beyond poorly with your concerns being dismissed as quickly as you raise them. You're a source of revenue for them, and nothing more (and as the customer service lady reminded me my revenue pays less than 10% of her salary, so she has job security regardless of your call in for problem resolution). They get two stars because trash pick up is (mostly) adequate and their manager seems to be the only person who understands what customer service is. read more
