Called for a pick up at the airport and rebooked for 2 hours, after my flight arrival, end up cancelling my reservation, in the departure date , lady driver gave a call 15 minutes late and telling me that she doesn't know where palm waikiki is , gave me an attitude as well. I normally prefer private rides to and from airport vs Uber or Lyft when I'm traveling. I booked Island Express (via Viator) to transfer my son and I to the airport. Christian, our driver, arrived 10 minutes early at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and gave me a curtousy call. Hilton Hawaiian Village is humongous and he agreed to pick me up at the Kalia tower (Thank goodness or we'd have to walk with all our luggages in the humongous crowd and traffic at the front checkin area). Due to the many one way streets this hotel has we decided to meet across the street but no worries because Christian walked across the street to help with the luggages. Our conversation and small talk really made the ride comfortable AND got to learn about inflation in Hawaii lol. I will definitely recommend this service to anyone wanting a ride from Hotel to Airport OR for TOURS. I saved this company on my phone the next time I come to Hawaii! They are awesome! My wife and I were so glad to finally arrive at Daniel Inouye Airport because we were exhausted from our one day journey back home. What should have been a ten hour nonstop flight turned into an overnight layover because one of our plane's fuel pumps malfunctioned while taxiing on the runway. Until now, we've always used Uber from the airport because it's reasonable, quick and easy and only a 30 minute drive from home. When I opened the Uber app I couldn't believe they were charging $238.00 for an UberXL!! Even after waiting 40 minutes Uber's surge pricing was still in effect so time for Plan B to find a way home. We called Island Express Shuttle and about 25 minutes later our shuttle arrived. The driver was extremely polite and without hesitation loaded our five pieces of luggage (two of them were 60 and 67 pounds) into the van for us . The driver drove smoothly and safely the entire way and our bill was only $35.60 plus a generous tip. Normally I don't like to use off-brand shuttle services as you don't know what to expect, but this service was just as good (or better) than Super Shuttle and at a great price ($10 to/from the airport)... ridiculously cheap. My hotel recommended Island Express, and I now recommend it to you. I used them to/from Pearl Harbor and also for my return trip back to the airport. Service was great, and they pick you up from whatever hotel you are staying at in a nice air-conditioned van. Drivers are friendly, and can give you tips and local knowledge about the area. read more

First let me start off with absolutely no communication when the reservations were made, had to call several times to get them to respond if we were going to get picked up or not. When we arrived in Hawaii there was no problem. The driver was pleasant and got us to our hotel without issue, leaving was a whole different story the driver didn't bother to call then when was driving he was falling asleep while driving almost hit the car in front of him a couple of times. Be careful with these guys. They will throw in extra charges if you use a credit card. They will disguise it as tax but they don't charge it if you pay cash. They are also very slow at getting you to the airport. If your group is 2 or more you are better off taking an Uber. It is cheaper and it's a direct ride to the airport. Bad way to do service. I luckily found IES when we first arrived on Oahu. Their prices were competitive but their service and communication were first rate. Their drivers, Tor and Christian, made sure that we always knew what was going to happen, either letting us know if they were running a little late, or better yet if something opened up in their schedule and they could come get us early! They had some great local recommendations but mainly it was the great communication that impressed me the most. I want to include their office staff as well as they were always prompt in returning calls or making changes when I requested them. They will be my shuttle of choice. read more

They were a bomb for me. It seemed like a simple airport pick-up. Made the reservation and pre-paid online three days before. Called to make sure they got the reservation, airline, flight number and the guy on the other end assured me there will be no problem. Either there would be a shuttle waiting for me or it would only be a few minutes wait. Cool. After my on-time flight arrival, I went out to the designated curb and there was no sign of an Island Express Shuttle Plenty of others were there. I called and the lady I spoke with had no idea who I was or that their company was picking anyone up at the airport. After I gave her my reservation number she sounded like I was a burden to her and said "Well, we can have a van out there in forty-five minutes." Say what? I immediately asked for a refund and used one of the shuttles that were actually at the airport and were about the same price ($13-$15 is average to Waikiki for a shared van). From the shuttle driver that I used, Vina Shuttle, I learned you don't really need to pre-pay when taking a shared van out of HNL. I was going to give them two stars based on the quick refund but decided on one when i noticed the refund was a dollar short. You guys can keep my dollar, I'll keep my one star review. read more

Upon my return from Samoa this summer, I relied on my colleagues @ Yelp to guide me toward an airport transportation service. The last trip home, I waited for 20 mins to catch a cab that would accept credit cards & thought, if I were going to wait that long, I mine as well use an economical service with favorable reviews. I called 2 places that came up on the search function and both had recordings that indicated the staff were on 'summer vacay' and were not providing shuttle service. IET radio'd their drivers to see who was near the airport for my immediate pick up, while I waited on the other line. Once confirmed, they directed me where to meet and the driver met me within 20 mins of my call. Actually, he was waiting for me for 5 mins, since my luggage hadn't made it down the conveyor & I was grateful that he waited, since I planned to hustle to work that morning. The drive home toward Waiks was expedient & the driver made pleasant small talk as we drove. I would HIGHLY recommend them for their excellent customer service and value. $11 brought me safely home, in a clean, air conditioned van that I didn't have to share w/anyone. read more

When I called the dispatcher, was told there was no record of our reservation & the soonest I could get a shuttle would be another 30-45 minutes (possibly miss our flight home). Took a cab instead. I really don't understand the 5 prior reviews on here regarding this company. We got to the hotel and asked about a first-thing-in-the-moring visit to Pearl Harbor. The Hotel set us up with Island Express and told us when to be picked up to get to Pearl when I wanted to. The small Asian driver (Marie Phan) was all business. I wasn't told about the numerous stops that would be made along the way. Nor how crowded the small van would become by the time we left Honolulu proper. There were passengers on their way to the airport, to a flea market, and to Pearl Harbor. It took us over an hour to get there. A cab would have taken 20 min. Also, she seemed down right offended when we didn't buy a round trip pass. We had made arrangements with a tour company to be picked up at Pearl and shown other sights for 6 hours, so we had no need for a round tirp. She charged us $18 each for the trip. Our cab to the airport the next day was $40 for both. For $2 we could have gotten to Pearl 40 min. sooner. The other passengers were as concerned and disappointed as we were on the ride. We were squeezed into seating without seat belts available for all passengers. We were forced to sit tightly against strangers and the person seated next to me had to sit two rows away from the person they were traveling with. Of most concern, however, was the driving of Ms. Phan. While driving throug the streets of Honolulu and on the freeway, she took phone calls (one time she had two people on hold while talking to a third!) from hotels and from what seemed to be other shuttle drivers (was she the owner/boss?). Not only phone calls, but picked up a clip board and rested it on the steering wheel while driving and writing and talking on the phone taking reservations!!! Scary for more than just me. At one point she was on the feeder lane onto the freeway and was running out of lane. She was going about 20 mph talking, writing and driving and litterally forced a car out of thier lane moving some 50 mph. It was very dangerous. I reported this to the hotel who recommended her when we got back and they seemed to take it serously. I don't have any idea what sort of kick back arrangements go on there in Honolulu between hotel staff and shuttle/tour companies. But this woman is a hazzard to your health! read more

WARNING - DO NOT USE THIS SHUTTLE SERVICE! We were recommended to them by our hotel (Marriott in Waikiki) to use this shuttle service to the airport. We booked the 1245 shuttle to get to the airport for our flight at 255 and was told to meet at least 10 minutes early. The shuttle was not there and we called the number 4 times only to be answered by a rude distracted lady that would only say that they were arriving "soon". The shuttle arrived 20 minutes late and when we questioned the male driver, he yelled "it's not my fault!" ....Er, is it our fault? He then told us we should have taken a taxi. ...OKAY. Proceeded to talk on the phone while cussing and driving erratically. We had to tell him the light was green because he was writing on a piece of paper. And then when we arrived at the airport, he told us that we could not get a discount even though he was super late AND rude. We paid via credit card and when we were leaving, he called us back to accuse us of canceling the transaction. We had a lovely beautiful vacation and was still enjoying it until this horrible encounter. Way to leave a sour taste in our mouth as a way to end our vacation. Do not use this shuttle. Might as well take a taxi (we had multiple taxis come up to us since we were waiting for almost half an hour and offered us a discount.) read more

We used the Island Express services on 4 occasions, and on one of these occasions we experienced a problem with the driver. The Manager, handled the situation in a very courteous and professional manner, totally to our satisfaction. We would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone, in view of the management of Mr. Chris Phan. He completely understands the importance of customer service. We took this shuttle to the arena swap meet. Upon return time for 130 we were there where we were dropped off. The driver drove passed us and kept going. We called the management of IES and they preceded to tell us it was our fault,she was not going to call him back, we could still see the van in the distance. The company would send a shuttle in 2 hours. When the shuttle arrived 2hrs later the owner proceeded to yell at us not to complain and do the Hawaiian thing and relax, as she put her hand in our face. The shuttle she brought was full of people and had no room for my fathers collapsible scooter. We waited another 20 mins to get yet another shuttle there . During this time the driver came out and stared to yell and ended with a yelling ALOHA and waving his hands at us , I could tell it was sarcastically done. The Shoreline hotel was on the phone with us and about to sent private transport for us , thank you, they were surprised at what they heard and they were sympathetic to our dilemma. No communication about the needs of who they have dropped off, the second driver didn't know who we were. There is a lack of communication between drivers because when we were being picked up a second time they were unaware that we had a scooter. read more
