Initially I saw Dr. Avi Kumar for an evaluation for a shoulder problem. After a few rudimentary…read moremovements he summarized I needed a shoulder implant. 10 minutes Day of surgery I saw him pre-op for about two minutes. Since then I have been bounced around with PA's and physical therapists. Seems no one stays working with Coastal very long. There is virtually no after care and appointments are continually being changed..as far as a month in advance for a PA! I need the opposite shoulder repaired next but I am thinking I won't go through this again especially with Coastal. Find another orthopedic Dr. if you can that is not connected to Coastal!!

I worked in healthcare for 30 years and would have sent her home to dress appropriately. Thankfully her NP at later visits was intelligent and educated. The business never considered how many appointments were authorized for me and just saw me continuously until they ran out and then told me to go get more so I could continue my care. The NP told me that the office would request PT for me then 3 weeks later when I called they said they I needed to do that which delayed my physical therapy by 6 weeks; that's a lot for a broken dominant hand wrist. I will never go back there.

Absolutely love Dr. Sugar's office. Have taken both my kids there for several sports injuries…read more Broken ankle, strained knee, severs foot disease, back pain from growing pains, etc. the staff is always friendly and timely. They go above and beyond. Very thorough too. Even suggested blood labs when we weren't seeing issues with mri, exam and X-rays. They get to the bottom of the issue. Was also appreciative that they respect options and costs. Both kids needed boots and wraps and they fitted them in office and gave price but also suggested Amazon if we wanted to try on our own. We didn't but it was nice to know they supported options. Highly recommend

Dr David Sugar, lacks empathy…read more Myself and wife are both patients of Dr David Sugar. Previously we had a problem with Dr Sugar's staff he said to us "if you ever have a problem again, come see me and I'll take care of it". Starting two weeks ago my wife started to suffer with severe pain in her arm and shoulder. Not knowing what it was, she first visited our GP who diagnosed the condition tendonitis and suggested she visit out orthopedist, Dr David Sugar. After trying unsuccessfully for over a week, we decided that we would go to Dr Sugar's office without an appointment and wait to see him. We got there at 12:30 and was advised that if we didn't have an appointment she would not been seen by the Doctor. She explained the severity of the pain and said she would wait to see the Doctor. Fast forward 5 hours when the office manager again told us that Dr Sugar would not see her. My wife then said she only wanted to talk to him. She was told no. Though she was offered an appointment 2 days later, it became obvious it was just a ploy to get us to leave because early the next morning, we received call saying that we could no longer receive medical care from Dr Sugar and that our records were to be transferred to another doctor's office. Obviously Dr Sugar forgot his telling us "if you ever have a problem again, come see me and I'll take care of it". He did not even show the empathy one expects from a Doctor, but even from a decent man. He did not, and could not, find 5 minutes for long time patient in pain

This is going to be a long story, but I hope this could help someone…read more My ankle was broken with a ligament issue, and I was referred to see a specialist. The main office couldn't figure out the referral form from my primary doctor for 3 days, while telling me to call them to send the right paperwork, when I didn't even know what that was. After I told them I'd find another surgeon, they magically sorted it out. (Btw, this doc doesn't know how to use any modern tech. I was at 1st appt for over 4hrs). I got my surgery scheduled with Dr. Bright very soon. I had a plate and screws inserted into my ankle, which took about 2 hours. My main issue with care was that I was not given any pain medication but told to take Tylenol, although I have no history/issue with it. I had to call the next day and plead for medication while crying in pain. Also, I kept falling during my rehab, which my PT reported to the surgeon. His note should've raised a red flag, but my surgeon or office never called. When I went to see him, he briefly looked at my X-ray and my ankle and recommended removal surgery. I ended up getting surgery from a different doctor, and he said that my ligament was torn, and this should've been easily seen from an X-ray when I was injured at the beginning, and this should've been fixed during my first surgery. Why should you have a surgeon who barely listens to you, reads your charts or notes before coming into your room, or checks your updates from PT? I'm still suffering 2 years later after 2 surgeries; this may be permanent. Do not get close there.

Although Dr. Hand was recommended to me by my dermatologist, I was unable to make an appointment…read more I had to call three times (10 rings the first two times) before someone FINALLY answered the phone. I got an incredibly rude receptionist who simply kept repeating that since I wasn't a current patient the office needed my records & insisted I bring them myself. At that point, she hung up on my. Guess I'll look for a different practice.

I am writing to formally complain and cancel my appointment scheduled for Tuesday. I have tried to…read morecontact your office on two separate occasions to request an appointment, and both experiences were extremely unpleasant. The first time, a woman who appeared to be Latina answered my call. She spoke to me in English in a very rude and unprofessional manner. This morning, I tried to call again, and the same woman was even more impolite, speaking a very poor and unpleasant form of Spanish. I understand and speak English fluently, as I speak five languages, so communication was not the issue. However, her unkind attitude was incredibly off-putting. I struggled to get through to her, and she even had difficulty understanding the alphabet when I tried to spell out numbers or letters. The whole interaction was highly uncomfortable. Additionally, I insisted several times on speaking with someone else who spoke English. Despite my efforts to communicate in English, she insisted on speaking Spanish, saying that she was the only one who spoke Spanish. I repeatedly told her that I could speak English and preferred to do so, but she continued to insist on speaking Spanish. I found this behavior extremely unprofessional and frustrating. Furthermore, my husband was also attended by this same woman recently, and he had a similar experience. He is an American citizen, as am I, but he was also treated poorly. I do not understand how such a person can be working in a medical environment, especially when we are seeking professional care. It was clear that she was hostile and unpleasant, almost as if she were angry with the world. I don't know what her issue is, but it was distressing and not at all what I expect from a service that is supposed to be helpful and supportive. Because of this, I am canceling my appointment and will not be seeking treatment with you. I hope that no one else has to experience what I went through this morning with this woman. I believe her name is Asha, A-S-H-I-A, but I may be mistaken. My name is Robinson Guerra. I sincerely hope that no other person has to deal with this kind of treatment in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Robinson Guerra
