I ordered the $50 Kuikui Nut Lei that is on their website for my son's High School Graduation. I was promised that it looks exactly like the picture. The lei in the photo has the brown koa seeds. Well, I didn't get the koa seeds. They replaced it some unattractive yellow/greenish sea shells. I'm not a happy customer. And I wish I could post the photos to compare the two leis. read more

My husband and I had been into hula dancing for over a year, and are both learning and embracing the Hawaiian culture. We celebrated our 25th Silver Wedding Anniversary by having a Hawaiian Island Style Unity Sand Renewal of Vows in Laguna Beach on August 3rd 2013. To make it more authentic, we also did our lei exchange ceremony. We ordered our very pretty and fresh Lori Lei and Ti Leaf Lei from Island Florals in Costa Mesa. Florence was very patient and helpful with us when we were deciding what leis to order (they have many pretty selections!). It was a day before our event when we picked up the Lori lei and the Ti leaf lei and some white orchids to use for my hair, and they were still so pretty and fresh on the day of our event and even few days after! I phoned in to order some lei's for a few different events and was rather rudely told that its graduation season now and they are making leis every school in southern California and that they couldn't help me with what I wanted. im sorry but june is also the biggest wedding month of the year & not to mention people have birthdays too. I would have understood & sympathized these facts if they were presented in a more courteous manner. if you are overwhelmed & stressed don't let it affect your new business! also the leis were $35 which seems to be on the high side for the local leis available. maybe I will try them for leis another time, maybe not. read more

Hidden gem in Costa Mesa. I found them through yelp last minute in August which is off season for graduation leis. I drove right over and they had a selection to choose from. I'm a transplanted Hawaiian living in California. Been here a long time. Imagine my glee when I found another transplanted local who made some of the most beautiful leis outside of Hawai'i right here in my own town. I've been one of Florence's customers (read; fan) for many years. She is one of the most lovely people you'd ever want to meet; full of TRUE Aloha Spirit. Not to mention, one of the most talented floral designers out there. I've seen a lot of hoidy-toidy floral designers come and go. Especially here in Orange County. But Florence just keeps her very "zen-like" feathers unruffled. She's a true gem. She's been in business for 30 years. I think that, right there, says something. Island Florals is one of the few places in Southern California that you can get a lei, and chances are, if you bought a lei from another florist in Orange County, they got it at Island Florals. read more

I needed a lei for an event for my daughter. It was a last minute thing but I googled leis and it gave me Island Florals in Costa Mesa which was not too far from where I am. I called and Sandy was very helpful and knowledgeable about the different types of lei that they offer. She also pointed me to their Facebook page so I can see the pictures since I didn't know what I wanted. When I finally went in later on that afternoon, it was in a sort of industrial area and didn't expect a floral shop to be located there. But their store is large with lots of displays. The staff is very friendly and offered suggestions when to order graduation leis etc. They also had on display different types of table arrangements and flower arrangements that would go great at a dinner party or company events if you are a party planner. I am so happy to find these guys! The lei I ended up buying was a simple plumeria and orchid lei but it was so fragrant and fresh. I can't believe they ship their flowers from the islands. Their arrangements are just breath-taking, and I think their prices are fair. Cheap things are never good, and good things are never cheap, right? They did my mother's celebration last year and now my mother-in-laws, and everyone oohs and ahhs at the arrangements.
