Ever since Hilo Hattie left The Block of Orange, I had to find a new place to get my lei's. I discovered Island Florals and have purchased lei's from them on several occasions. 2 out of 3 times, I had a great experience. One time I had a lei shipped to Seattle, and by the time it got there, the lei was pretty "limp". On my most recent occasion, I pre-ordered a pikake lei and kukui lei for my parents 80th birthday party. Sandy, one of the workers there, called me several times, first to let me know that unfortunately they couldn't get the pikake lei (which she warned me ahead of time that she may not be able to get it), and the second time to let me know when the lei's had actually arrived for pick-up. She always kept me abreast of the status of the lei's and displayed outstanding customer service! Overall, I've been very pleased with the lei's I've purchased from them and the overall experience. The tropical arrangement would have been beautiful, but such was not the case, as it was left outside under the sun in 90+ heat. The Anthurium, ginger, etc were sunburnt and browned. I was out of town when I received a call that flowers had been delivered to my door. I called back as soon as I got the message and spoke with Jane. I was devastated I missed the flowers and asked if they had any other deliveries in the area that day or next day to pick them up and I would pick it up from their location when I returned. I would gladly pay a fee for the local pickup. Just to preserve them and keep them cool since we've been in a heat wave. It was an $$$ arrangement for my birthday. Had this simple situation worked out better, I would become a regular at Island Floral as I always have fresh flowers in my house and tropicals are my favorite. Any suggestions or help from them on how to work with the situation would have been extremely appreciated. Jane's response was that they've been paid, cut and there was nothing she could do. I didn't want new flowers, just hoping we could work together to save their arrangements. No budging, no sense of customer service. When I mentioned my past experience where floral companies have kept arrangements in their cooled van if no one was home, Jane's excuse was they did not have my contact number. They obviously did in order to leave a voice message (it's still on my phone). I asked to speak to a manager or owner who might be able to authorize picking up the flowers on one of their nearby deliveries, Jane said she'd have someone call me back. I received a nice arrangement for Valentine's Day from my husband. 3 of the anthurium snapped off of the stem and it looked as if the driver tried to hide it or cover it up by tucking it under some of the greenery. This is a great place for Hawaiian leis. I needed one for graduation and didn't want to call home (Hawaii) to have someone mail it just in case it didn't make it. They were fairly reasonable ($35 for a tuberose and orchid lei) and have amazing customer service. I don't remember the girls name who assisted me but she was great. Local Native Hawaiian community leaders/elders had shared about this business years ago and it's taken me forever to finally check out and support their business. Unfortunately, it was under sad circumstances as I was buying a lei for someone dear to me for a paddle out. They can make their leis with biodegradable string meant for paddle outs, which I requested, as this special person cared deeply about the environment and our beaches. They do respond to emails but it's best to call to place an order and yes they are open during this pandemic. Just call in advance to check their hours and follow their protocols. Highly recommend. Not only did they produce a beautiful product, but their customer service is on point! I spoke with Florence in regards to ordering a Haku Lei on short notice. From what I was told, they typically need at least a weeks notice. Fortunately, that was not the case. When I initially called for a quote, they were extremely busy and understaffed. I am pretty impressed with the leis that I have bought for two separate and special occasions. The first time, I last minute ordered a lei and they were able to put one together for me. The second time, I placed my order in a week in advance, but the staff called me before my pick up time to let me know that they were running low on the orchid that I've wanted. They then asked me if they could arrange the lei a different way, but still make it beautiful and I was willing to compromise with them because they were being very professional and friendly. The staff and florists at Island Florals are truly helpful and considerate in trying to accommodate the needs of their customers. Once you arrive at the shop, you can parallel park in the front of the store (maybe limited) or park in the back lot (plenty parking here!). Picking up your order will be quick and simple whether you've paid ahead of time or in-person. For me, I was in and out of the floral shop within a couple of minutes. 3 days before my brothers wedding I was frantically looking for another floral place that would make me a ti leaf lei with white orchids because another floral shop was not responding back to my emails even though they said they would make my lei. (I won't name names but that other floral place finally emailed me back after I told them I went with someone else and they said they had texted me but since I didn't text them back that they didn't think I wanted the lei...I personally think that was very unprofessional of them to not have called me or email me instead to confirm if I wanted the lei. But it is what it is and I'm thankful I found someone else). So I found Island Florals on yelp and I sent an email out and got a response within about less then 10 minutes. They were able to make this type of lei for me and I got a quote and was able to set up payment, pick up date and time over the phone (And this was all done within an hour or less). They really eased my worries and frustrations that day. And when I picked up the lei the day before my brothers wedding, I was not disappointed. It turned out perfect! Having grew up in Hawaii, I wanted a maile lei for my brothers wedding but because of agriculture regulations, floral shops in Hawaii are not able to ship to California. Needed a lei quick and found this shop on Yelp. Conveniently located a couple of minutes from the 405. I was able to grab their last ti leaf lei and pay for my purchase in less than 10 minutes. They had some really nice white, purple and yellow/white orchid leis in single and double strands. Price for ti leaf $35, double orchid lei $45 which I thought was reasonable, especially without having to place the order ahead of time. Nice customer service too. read more
